I don't like the electrical water parade.

I don’t hate but I don’t really like it either. It’s very dated and feels like a time warp to the 1970s. People often mention nostalgia regarding this parade because they remember it from their childhood, and I get that. The parade doesn’t really bother me but in the locations where I stay the music is not loud at all.

Whoops, I left out “doesn’t” in my original message and have corrected it. It doesn’t really bother me.

I didn’t start coming to WDW until 2006, when I was 40. I grew up in LA and went to Disneyland frequently as a kid. So while I remember pining to go to Disney World when I was a kid, I didn’t get here in time to form that nostalgic bond with this parade!

Arguably not amazing strictly on its merits, but like many are saying, it’s all about the nostalgia for me. At a time when so many things at Disney close down or are changed significantly, I love having some things the same as I still remember them from decades ago. I would be very sad if they took it away.

I love it, mostly for the nostalgia. My first trip was in 1992, I was 6 years old and I can remember being at the Poly waiting to go to the Luau with my family and watching this from the beach. It always brings me back to that trip. I hope they never get rid of it.

I'm 52, saw it first time when I was 8.

I hope it stays forever.
I agree 100%. I am a bit older, didn't see first time til I was in my 20's, but still love this. No need to tear down and replace with new and flashy. Let's keep some Disney in Disney.

We love sitting out on the balcony at Bay Lake, in my PJs, before bed and watching. Love the sentimental feel of it!

I've only stayed at Wilderness Lodge once. The parade came by around 9 or 9:30 if I remember correctly. It really didn't bother me. I'm not going to alter my plans to watch it, not going to complain about it either. If it floated by at like 10:30 or 11:00 it might be a different story. I view anyone who is annoyed by the parade as the same group that looks out the window all day waiting to yell at the neighborhood kids for taking one step off the sidewalk onto their lawn.
Ouch.

Absolutely love it! Reminds me of my childhood, it was magical watching it from the CR when I was a kid. Is it more nostalgia now, yes, but it's one of the few original opening day WDW things left. Could it use some minor updating and maybe a few more barges? Yes, that would be fun, but it needs to maintain it's originality. It's not a trip unless I see it. Hope it never goes away.

I absolutely love it! It reminds me of my first visit in January 1972. We camped at Fort Wilderness and I remember just being amazed by the parade as it floated by. The water parade was very high tech for the 1970's!

Like I said in another post, I was disappointed when the viking ride was made into frozen ever after for the same reason so I do understand.

Same with complaining about the boat horns, especially when YOU pick the resort. LOL
We actually would leave our balcony door open a crack so we could hear them better, I guess we're just a crazy family:rotfl2:
Imagine being annoyed by happy music noises at WDW.

This wasn't really meant to be a thread to complain, it's more of just curiosity if there were others out there that felt the same way because I thought I was alone in not liking it. I love WL and Ft. Wilderness, even with the water parade. My "happy music noises" are usually nature related.

Yup. Remember all the WDW stuff that went away with covid and didn't come back? I was hoping EWP was going to be one of those things . . . no luck. We were staying at CCV one time - it was SO loud and I could hear it multiple times as it moved by the other resorts. We were able to switch rooms, thank goodness. That being said, on one trip my sister and I were the ONLY people on a ferry from TTC to MK one night and it passed right by us - it was so close and that was kind of neat!

Exactly this! I hear the boats on day one and think "I am home". Its like a warm welcome. I feel the same way when I hear the train in MK, from my resort room!
Crazy family you are not alone! :P
