I don't know whether to be insulted or angry or what...

That's not Julia Roberts! It's just an actress who has a similar look! :goodvibes

Really? It looks and sounds just like her, and from what I recall, the guy looks like her husband. What's his name--Danny Modine?

You know....Chase has me really concerned. I had a credit card with Providian, it got bought out by Chase. I have my Disne Visa card as well. So, I start paying off, in larger chunks, the old Providian card...Chase put a much higher interest rate on it. Then, Chase bought out Washington Mutual, who holds our mortgage. THen, Chase shut down the old Providian account..yes, I was part of the big 'house cleaning' Chase did last summer.
Now...I'm so nervous about how they do business, that I'm seriously thinking about going with Wells Fargo and getting a refi done on the mortgage. It just never ends!!!

Janice, the guy really does look like Danny Moder, come to think of it! Recognizing celebrities is the only thing I'm confident of, sadly! So, yeah, it's someone else! If I was adept at posting pics here, I'd do a side by side for you! I've also had the conscious thought that they specifically cast that commercial with a Julia Roberts "type",though, so don't feel bad. Boy, we're really derailing the thread! Sorry! :)

Wow that is unbelievable!! Although being Chase I believe it. I have my car loan through them and it was the constant trying to sell me on thier different "services" that made me stop going into the bank to pay (I used to work next door to a branch when I first recieved the loan). I am going to be so thankful when I am through paying on it in a year.

Yikes! Okay, so I got a flier in my Disney Visa bill (I charge everything to it, pay it off weekly, take my credits and run.) that if I sign up for a Chase Checking account and sign up for direct deposit and direct deposit money into the account every month for 6 months, Chase will give me $125.

Are they going to do an upsell on me? I was thinking of having $10 deposited in the account every paycheck and then closing the account as soon as the 6 months were up and spending my $125 on prezzies for some dear relations.

What are prezzies?

We live in the UK but have a couple of invesment properties in Sarasota which we had mortgages on with Washington Mutual and of course now with Chase and I had no idea that they had such a bad reputation.

I have tried to contact them about a couple of issues with the mortgages and have got absolutely nowhere because we are 'non-resident aliens' and they don't want to know, which makes me really worried what would happen if we have a serious problem - how on earth could we get it sorted out.

Just as an aside--I hate the Chase commercials with Julia Roberts. The own where some guy (maybe her husband?) is talking to her about Chase rewards and she's trying to tell him that she used them to buy the fabu dress she's wearing. C'mon, like Julia Roberts needs Chase rewards to buy a dress? :lmao:

Interesting - this is one of the few tv commercials that we actually like. Unlike the average commercial where the guy is usually portrayed as inept, an idiot or a dunce this one sets up both the male and female roles as equals. We like the gentle humor between the two onscreen. We think it is a good example of what a commercial should be - a showcase for your product using some humor and witt, without denegrating anyone in the process.

Now, if you want out & out stupid in the commercial genre just look for Burger King. We've not stepped into a BK restaurant since the start if the BK "King" commercial series. We refuse to reward stupidity !

I was convinced that commercial was actually "Julia" and "Danny." Well, if anything that makes me NOT hate it. I liked the black-and-white photography and the way the couple dances, but I couldn't past thinking it was absurd to suggest the real Julia Roberts would use Chase rewards for a fancy dress. :lmao:

I found the commercial via YOUTUBE however I cannot post the link. The comments are awful.

The actress is Molly Culver who was on a show called VIP. Here is the clean IMBD link of her.

I can only imagine what the comments must be like. :scared1: Thanks for the warning!

I hate BK's food to begin with, but even if I loved it, I wouldn't patronize the place due to the commercials alone. I change the channel whenever they come on.

I'm wondering how to deal with these people now. Do I not answer my cell when I see it's them calling? Or do I out-and-out tell them that they had a chance to get some business from me, but blew it by suggesting that I take out a loan that is grossly unsuited to my needs?

Honestly, they were saying that I should borrow a ballpark figure of money that I don't even have earmarked to spend. And they were suggesting I refinance a loan that will paid be off in 14 years, is not amortized, and at a fixed rate of 5%. In return, they offered me a mortgage that will take 30 years to pay off, will be amortized with high amounts of the initial monthly payments going towards interest only, and at a fixed rate of 5% as well. It's so ridiculous, it's laughable, and to suggest doing it, Chase is telling me that it has no problem robbing me.

Seriously, do I tell them this? I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but it's a little unnerving to think that they may be hooking some poor souls with crazy deals like this.
