I don't know what to do about cameras.

I just can't decide whether to take my big camera or not. My point and shoot is pretty crappy but the pics are fine and my dslr is so heavy. When I get home I never end up getting photos printed because I want to edit them first and there are folders everywhere due to using two cameras and I'm just lazy.

Will I regret it if I don't take my dslr? It's not as if I haven't been before. UGH It's quite a burden to carry it around but I do like the pics it takes.

I always take my DSLR. I took my point and shoot last year only to Universal Studios because I didn't want to have to store it in a locker. I regretted it. So many views of the Wizarding World I wanted to take with my DSLR the way I wanted them.

The photos keep me smiling until my next trip.

I take my DSLR and point and shoot. I usually keep my dslr with me but on occasion when I can't be bothered with the weight, I've at least got a back up.

If the photos aren't that important to you and they're just left for editing without returning to them, then I say take the point and shoot. At least you'll get some use out of it. :)

I just finished up my last trip yesterday. I made myself do it. 534 photos edited downloaded and sent away for printing. Out of those 534 photos, only 63 were taken with my point and shoot. I think that has answered my question lol

Even if you don't plan on printing the photos there is plenty you can do with them - onto facebook, trip report on the DIS and my fav - make a photobook with the photos...I may be bias as I think great photo memories of a trip are so so important. I had an experience on my honeymoon where I hardly took any pictures and I regret it hugely now as I have no tangible photo memories from a very important trip...

If your point and click doesn't do well and you don't want to take your bulky camera perhaps consider buying (if it's in your budget) one of the inbetween type cameras that don't have additional lenses but take great photos and aren't anywhere near as bulky...or getting a better point and click - there are some that are better than others....

Otherwise, if you don't think you'll use or care about the photos after the trip then your small point and click would be fine :)

I agree - could be worth investing in a better quality compact camera if you care about the photo quality but can't be bothered with your DSLR.

I personally have one of the hybrid style Sony Cybershots (not the tiny point and shoot version), and LOVE it! It takes such great pics, and is nice and easy to handle, fits into bags etc. I also have a smaller waterproof point and shoot. I take both with me and generally use the waterproof one during the day, on wet rides, or if it's raining. But when the sun goes down, or for low light day shots, I always get the Sony out.

If you're not keen on getting another camera, I would take the DSLR away with you, and just decide when you want to take it. If you're planning to have a break in the afternoon, you could just grab your DSLR for night time shots.

There's nothing I love better than looking back through my holiday snaps on the computer, facebook, or in a printed photobook, and oohing and aahing over them :goodvibes

Another suggestion: get a digital photo frame. You can play all your photos on a loop (you can even slow them down to just have a few, or even one each day).
