Sorry if it has..........
But for those sitting on the fence to buy better decide in a hurry!

As of March 31st Points will be going up to $101.00!

Hope this helps someone decide!

That must be what the big meeting was about a couple weeks ago!

That deadline is just for new members. Current member have an "extension" until June or July.

Thanks for the info. on this. I will say this: a price increase shouldn't help anyone "decide". SSR sales are not going well, it is just a matter of time before the next F&F deal comes along. All potential owners out there: Wait, because a great deal is coming. People buying in a year before the F&F discount deal paid more per point than those who just bought in January of 2006. I'll dig for numbers on this. Heck, I bought in, in 2002 and paid slightly more than those with the F&F deal. Anyone have a history of prices handy? Don't be swayed by the increase, increase it all they want, it is always about what you pay in the end. Another great deal is coming, just wait.

Dave, how can you be so certain that sales are not going well?
A price increase would usually mean good sales, or even that sales are on target, but I would think DVC is smater than to raise prices on a product that isn't selling. :smokin:

Wow, $101. That's about 33% more than we paid (direct to Disney) 4 1/2 years ago. I wonder what the increase in hotel rates has been in that time? I'd ask about the increase in price of park tickets, but I probably wouldn't like the answer! But I would be surprised if hotel rates have gone up nearly that much.

Actually, they already are $101 to new members. There is a special offer to DL AP holders of 15% off a purchase price of $101/point. And as for those who wonder why there would be a price increase if sales are poor, it's so that they continue to offer these great discounts. If they were going well, do you think they would need to offer 15% off?

raise the price to 100................ put it on sale for 80.

"man honey, we should buy now.........this is a great deal, look how much we are saving off the regular price".

Listen closely............ That is the sound of the head of the nail being hit and hit hard enough to drive it all the way home.

Actually that is just good marketing - period.

I don't care if the resort rivaled the GF.

Good question,

I have a friend that was a DVC guide a while back. He relocated to Jacksonville, Florida so obviously he gave up that job. He still has contact with some friends that are DVC guides. This info. comes from him. His friends have said that the sales are screeching to a hault. This is part of the reason for the F&F discount. Sales got off to a great start thus the expansion. Since the resort has opened sales have slowed. Could it be people aren't liking what they see? I don't know so I won't go there. I can tell you if I hadn't bought in before it opened I wouldn't have bought there. Raising the price gives the appearance that sales are going well and helps move some off the fence. It is a hard sell tactic without appearing that way. The guide says "Just wanted to give you a heads up that the price is increasing to $101 dollars on x date." Seems like he is doing you a favor. Dean and others have also given some reasons that sales are going well. It is like asking a restaurant owner "How's business?" What should he say? "Ah, it sucks, actually. I'm going broke." No matter what you want to give the appearance that all is well.

The Florida prices have not increased yet. They are still $98 with an $8 incentive. I suspect the reason you are seeing the discount is because they have already raised the prices in California.

So sales may pick up a little for a couple weeks, but then the price increase actually goes into effect and sales come to a screeching hault.

That just doesn't make good business sense in my opinion, but hey, what do I know about business? :teeth:

I would imagine a very small % of dvc contracts are sold at "full" price.

Moving the regular price up, simply allow dvc to still run GREAT SALES, and WONDERFUL OFFERS, and LIMITED TIME PERKS, and continue to move the price up.

people often times don't look at what something cost, that look at much of a "deal" they got......

"man, i got the dealer to knock 9k dollars of the price of this car.........9k dollars. HA sell me something at full price...........not on your life. yup got them to come down, 9k dollars"

never once did the guy mention the price he did pay is $2,500 more then what the same car sold for 2 years prior.

JC PENNYS has the biggest sale of the year, 4 times every mth.

The outward indications to me are that sales are not going that well in DVD's eyes, they do tend to have inflated expectations. We've also had some indirect, but ? inside, collaboration. One person posted in the last day or two that their guide, since fired, said the same. I realize a possible disgruntled employee is not the most reliable source of information but you can bet they know a lot more than likely any of us would. The other is that, as I posted previously, I have a source that is second hand but inside and has always been accurate. And my source has never been on the cutting edge, they never float things that are just happening. But everyone can believe what they want.
