I don't know a word of Japanese! - A COMPLETED TR!

Less then 3 weeks to go now! :cool1:

Every time I research things to do in Tokyo there's always some mention of the Park Hyatt and that the movie Lost in Translation was filmed there. So I added it to our "Movies to watch" list.

Last night DH and I watched it, and I can now officially say that it was a waste of 100 minutes!! There's a few parts where the movie is interesting, but nothing happens! I am so disappointed because I thought it was going to be one of those movies that would get us really excited for our trip, and something we could watch when we got back to remind us of the places we saw, but no, it was so boring, and all DH and I could say was "I hope Tokyo isn't as boring as this movie makes it look!" :confused3

So now if anyone has any recommendations of any good movies that are set in Japan I'd be happy to hear about it

I didn't like Lost in Translation either- I remember little about it other than that it was very disappointing. Glad I'm not the only one. :rotfl:

Can't think of good movies set in Japan off the top of my head. I've enjoyed episodes of Amazing Race where they've gone to Japan.

Just reminding you - I am reading along intently - remember lots of food porn - with prices !! Please!

I have been looking at airfare today - we can fly Jetstar for $3765 for our family - (no meals, no points, stopover in Cairns or Gold Coast, no bags and we would have to leave Sydney at the ungodly hour of 6:00am - which means leaving home around 4:00am :scared1: (and either one less day of holiday or 1 more day off school)

So I am still holding out for Qantas - have a budget of around $1k pp and should be able to use Points + pay for a bit of a discount! :wizard:

Jetstar had a special about a month ago... GC to Narita $209 one way! (in Nov/Dec) That's a great price. You aren't going until 2013 are you? You have heaps of time. They should start coming out soon.

I find the problem with the Jetstar sales is that when they come up, they're generally for in just a couple of weeks, so you sort of have to be ready to go at a moments notice :confused3

We got our flights through qantas for $1000 per person, so it definitely exists. :thumbsup2

I usually take food porn pics, but I never remember the prices, so I'll do my best to remember that, or even just take a pic of the menu :rolleyes1

Bleh  16 days out and I've been struck down with a cold, here's hoping that I've got enough time to get over it before our holiday, but I have a pretty high track record of being sick while on holidays, so chances are it will hang around :sad2:

On the plus side - only 7 working days until I'm on leave  Less if I take a sick day, but I have a fair bit of work to cram into those days

Trying to look into coin laundries around CST hotel, they exist, but every time I go to a map to find out how to get there, the map is in Japanese :lmao:

When all else fails, buy more clothes...no need to do laundry. :thumbsup2

Hope you are feeling better.

:scratchin hmmm...

:lmao:

I'm back at work today, so a little better. Trying to get my motivation levels up!

I purchased my TDR 4 day passport yesterday  Now I just need to remember to take the email confirmation and the credit card I used to pay for it with me...

I also purchased a data sim to put in my phone while we're over there so I can use maps and be online all the time :goodvibes I've organised it be delivered to my hotel, so fingers crossed it gets there :scared:

Not long to go now. That's a very exciting looking countdown.

Glad you got the TDR passes sorted.

it is an exciting count down ticker isn't it? lol.

I feel like I've left everything to the last minute though. I think next holiday we'll go back to booking 6 months in advance!

Sometimes, these ad-hoc spur of the moment holidays are the best. :goodvibes

Just got a call from the bank, my Yen has turned up, so I'm going to go pick it up at lunch :goodvibes

Today is my last day at work, so I've booked myself in the office all day to try and get all of my paperwork under control. I'm actually surprised with how under control I've got it :rotfl:

Then I've got an action packed week of tieing up a heap of loose ends. Which includes my trip to Newcastle to see Flight of the Conchords :cool1: I'm only going to spend 2 nights in Newie though because I have so much to get done! :scared:

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it, I played there songs all day today.

I got my yen :goodvibes

I'm all caught up! BecBennett it sounds like an amazing trip! I know I've said that about everyone's trip...but I mean it!

By the way, the photo of you and hubby on the carousel is just gorgeous. Happy Belated 1st wedding anniversary! And definitely travel as much as you can before you have kids, as well as travelling with kids. Rewarding in very different ways.

Enjoy your week off!
