April, I hope and pray that Isis gets better soon. I know what you mean about how worrying about the fur babies gets worse as they get older. You just can't help it.
I hope it's just something simple making Isis sick! I know my Phoenix will just randomly get sick a few times at least once a year, and it's never been anything but an upset stomach. I hope the vet says it's nothing and she is a healthy girl!![]()
I hope Isis is okay; can't wait to hear about the October plans.
Hi April,
My sincere apologies for missing your TR. I hope you can forgive me. I was off the boards for about a year. I looked for your TR this past weekend and was happy to see it is still open. I just finished up this evening. You posted great pictures of your trip(s)!! I especially like the Festival of the Masters pics since I have never seen pictures of that before. I also love many of the shots around Crescent Lake. I also appreciate seeing all the unique food offerings in the Food and Wine menu board pics. You also had me listening to some Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Music on Youtube this weekend while reading. Good stuff!
I hope Isis is ok!
Best Wishes,
clearskies
I'm so happy to hear that Isis' illness was just a stomach bug! Not that that's a good thing but I think you know what I mean.
I just wanted to post a little about the October trip. It is going to be a short one! I arrive in the morning on October 18 & will get to Beach Club by 11. My friend from PA will arrive about an hour after me. We will walk over to EPCOT for a bit, then rest up before the Halloween Party. The next day, we are going to Islands of Adventure because my friend is a huge Harry Potter fan. We have dinner that night at Jiko. Saturday morning we have breakfast at Boma, then plan to go to Animal Kingdom. That night we might go back to EPCOT or walk over to the Boardwalk. Sunday we have breakfast scheduled at 1900 Park Fare & the day is pretty much open. We are going to DHS for the PM extra magic hours. We don't have much time the next morning before our flights leave.
That's about it. I'm looking forward to it because I have had a summer full of weddings & parties. My commute makes me not want to go anywhere on the weekends, so it has been an adjustment this summer! I am used to staying home & doing housework all weekend. This weekend & next I have a few things to attend & then it should be quiet for a while. Thanks for sticking with me even though I haven't been posting much.
Great plans for the quick October trip-
Love that you are going to the Halloween Party.
LOVE that you are going to Harry Potter World (can't wait to see your pictures)
LOVE that you and your friend are staying at the Beach Club.
I'm really glad that it isn't a serious health issue with Isis. How scary for you!
I'm so glad Isis just has a stomach bug and nothing major. I'm sure it isn't pleasant, but it could be so much worse!![]()
aprilisis said:Ugh- it has turned into more than I thought. She is either dry heaving or throwing up bile almost every morning. The vet has her on medicine for Pancreatitis. It has been almost a month of this. I just wish I could do more for her. It's so frustrating to feel powerless.
Darn. But Pancreatitis can be treated after you find a good routine for her. Food usually tends to control it even better than medicine does in a lit if cases, though the meds can certainly help too. Hope you find a routine that helps her soon.
Hey April,
I'd been off the boards for a while...
& I just found this...
I've made it through page 5 and am subbing on...
& it looks like on this page you're talking about a trip this month...
(I have one coming up end of Nov/beginning of Dec...)
As always your photos are stunning and I can't wait to go back and read/see more...

aprilisis said:That makes me feel a little better, thanks. I know we have to tweak her diet- the vet says low fat snacks only and lean hamburg & rice for dinner. Do you have any advice or suggestions? I'm trying to stick to only bland/non-acidic stuff. It's tough, too, because she used to eat pretty much whatever she wanted and now she is really ticked because she can't have whatever she wants!
I have some friends that are vet techs and a ton that work in all aspects of animal care, let me check with them. What medication is she on? Does she have any food allergies?
Here is what my various friends said:
Meg (had a cat who was treated for pancreatitus before they found it was actually cancer. Has experience with the treatment though): the doggie needs pain meds, nausea meds, and obviously Cerenia for the vomiting. Tell them Cerenia is CRITICAL! It WILL stop the vomiting. We were treating Bug for pancreatitis when we found it was FIP. Pain meds are critical as well. Eating is painful, therefore they get sick and puke. And they stop eating. So, Kita got pain meds, Cerenia, subq fluids and we assist fed her. A feeding tube is sometimes needed with this DX. Let me know if I can help with anything else. It's a nasty DX and does take time for them to recover.
Marti: (as you will read, her 12 year old dog Apache was diagnosed in August with pancreatitus): my Apache had this in August and I thought it might be the end of him because he's about the same age and can barely walk anymore. The boiled chicken and rice after a night of IV fluids and a day of no food worked really well. They tell me that if they start vomiting again, they need to not have new ammunition for 24 hours or so to stop the cycle, but I don't know everything about this particular dog and i'm certainly no vet.
Cheryl (she is a vet tech, so she knows her stuff!): "I would honestly be concerned that she is having problems with the rice or beef. Although low fat is critical with pancreatitis any underlying sensitivies have to be taken into account. Will see what resources I can find but even changing to a white meat chicken or turkey (bolied) with a different, gentle grain (millet is a good one to try that tends to be low allergenic)"

Hope this helps April!!!! If they give me anything else I will pass it along.
Thank you SO MUCH for all of the info! You're the best! Right now, Isis is taking urosodiol (I think that is what it is called). She only dry heaves or throws up early in the morning, but it never contains food. Usually it is a little bile. Other than that, she is eating, drinking, & doing everything else normally. I'll talk with the vet later with the information you have sent me. I can't thank you enough!!!![]()
You are very welcome! Animal stuff is easy for me to help with, since I have so many friends that work with them or are involved with animal rescue that can help with anything I don't already know. I had all of those responses within 10 minutes of posting asking for information on Facebook!I hope it helps!
April, I hope that you can find something that will help Isis soon. I know that you've got to be worried about her.
Hi April, i am so sorry about Isis' diagnosis....I hope she is doing better??? You got some great advice from your readers and I hope it is helping her....i hope your stress level comes down
Hey April,
How are you doing? How's Isis?
