We are supposed to get 4" of snow and then freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. I swear, after the week I have had, I don't care if I have to shovel a path to FL, dangit, I AM GOING!!!

I watched the weather all week and they said today was supposed to be 45 and cloudy, I figured "best day to do last minute outside stuff to TT and TV" , tomorrow was supposed to be 45 and rainy. So I watch the weather last night, and they change everything. Today, I frooze my butt off it was about 20 degrees, and windy.

My luck, when we get to fl, it will be a freak blizzard!!!

Leave early and beat the storm. Just call in sick ;)

Sounds like our luck. The day we where leaving for our 1/07 trip to FW everything iced over. We only live 60 miles from the Gulf of Mexico we never get ice. We had planed on leaving around 7am we had to wait till noon so some of the ice was off the roads. Even than we where the only people on the road.

Take it slow and easy, you'll make it, remember safety first above all things. That's how it is whenever we plan anything , it can be beautiful outside and the day we decide to leave it will rain cats and dogs everytime.
GOD SPEED !:laundy:

Dw works tonight, and is off for 17 days, I am just a bum, so I can do what I like.... but DS's school is having a cow that we are taking him out of kindergarten for 10 days, couldn't take another....

I would have a hard time not leaving early.

I don't understand what is so important about kindergarten that he can't miss 10 days! Is that the time frame that they learn about the "Periwinkle" crayola???

Seriously! he will get so much more learning at WDW! It's all about the life experiences!

Our school district has a 12/24 policy, if you miss more than 12 in a row or in 1/2 year, then they can hold you back.... I may have had something to do with this policy from when I was a senior :rolleyes1

Some policies make no sense. If the child is excelling, I see know reason why you can't take the child out for an educational and family trip. This just grips my trigger!

Ours is 10 days unexcused in 6 months... so our ENT appt yesterday came with a Drs note (excused) as we're pulling our 1st grader out for a week! Yeah!

Pull on those snowshoes John!

To me as long as you are passing the days you are there should not matter. But schools dont care what I thank.:confused3

They can hold you back in kindergarten? :scared1: That stinks! In my opinion, you'd be better off taking him to WDW. I never went to kindergarten and I turned out o.k. :hippie: ... I think.

Well its funny to hear your story. This past december I had to snowplow our yard to get the RV out :scared1: We then drove down in a bit of snow, a bit of ice, a bit of fog. By far our worst drive yet. We did take our time and things turned out great.

Unfortunatly we needed to plow the yard when we got back to park it again. O Well, the fort is worth it.

I would be calling the school and telling them to bad so sad he is our son we are taking him for an extra day deal with it LOL. I am so glad our schools aren't like that here.

You know what is funny, the school just called and canx pm kindergarten, not the whole school, just his class... ARRRGH!

Sad as it may seem, it probably is not an academic issue but a money issue. Our schools in Texas get money from the state for every child for each day they attend class. If they miss a day, the school doesn't get money for that day. Attendance is taken by 10:00 am, if the child is there, the school gets credit. Your state may have the same policies. They gave us a hard time as parents and as teachers for any unexcused absences. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore. :teacher:

That is basically how it is here in Tennessee as well. It is about money first, then preparation for the standardized testing which supports the school's performance under No Child Left Behind. That performance also drives federal dollars, so again it is about money. :sad2: Don't mean to vent, but losing parental control over educational decisions for my daughters is one of the reasons we are now homeschooling. One of the side-benefits of this is....we can go to the Fort during off-peak times!
