"I DO...want dessert" Our 10-Day DxDP Honeymoon-FINAL POST

I finally got a chance to catch up on your report. Sanaa looks wonderful. We are staying at AKV in Kidani, so we plan on trying this out. I appreciate your report and am excited for this meal. :thumbsup2

We had an awful experience our one and only time at 'Ohana. Sadly, my DH and my boys all refuse to give it another chance. It was THAT BAD. :crazy2:

Ohh, I do love the feel of Kidani. I hope you have a wonderful time. Sanaa was beautiful. (Don't forget to use the bathroom!)

We had an awful experience our one and only time at 'Ohana. Sadly, my DH and my boys all refuse to give it another chance. It was THAT BAD. :crazy2:

It's too bad, isn't it? I was really excited to go there, as I had heard so many wonderful things. I think it will be hard to get my DH back there too. Especially with so many other awesome dining opportunities! Maybe you and I will have to ditch the boys and meet up at Ohana sometime. :) I would give it another shot.

We did the KTTK tour today. I was really looking forward to this because we were going to go backstage! Since it came with lunch, we specifically planned for the 9:30am tour so we could grab a cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery for breakfast before our tour.

Well...things didn't quite work out that way. We waited FOREVER for a bus from the resort to MK. Therefore, we were just in time for our tour and didn't have time for the bakery. :sad2: What a bummer! A good reason to go back to D-World soon, right?!

So, we did the tour. It was great! Lots of fun info. Would I do it again? No. Would I recommend someone who has never done it to do it? Yep. I would personally do a different tour next time just for something new.

We stopped at CHH for lunch. We ate in a quiet area upstairs, which was nice. However, DH and I had to sit with another couple. As nice as it could've been...it wasn't. We totally didn't click and it made for an awkward lunch. Perhaps no assigned seats would've been much better?! Anyway, the food was so-so. We both had the chicken and fish basket. I think it would have been great if it was hotter. I'm not sure if our tour group was running late, or if the food was out too early, but it was definitely on the cold side. Also, no tarter sauce!! No tarter sauce???!!! With fried fish???!!! What the heck? Also, no dessert. Seriously?! I was bummed. And still hungry. For the rest of the tour, I kept thinking about all those snack credits we still had left and all the food carts we were walking past...my tummy growling the whole time. Slightly irritating, but my own fault perhaps?:guilty:

So, I would go to CHH again because I think their food is probably good when fresh, but DH much preferred our experience at Pecos Bills last year. If you need a quick service lunch at MK, I would recommend one of those restaurants.

Next Up: Our last dinner :sad1: Le Cellier

I'm in, kind of late but I am here. You reviews are great. Loved you Jiko review! We are eating many of the same places so this was great. Thanks!

Ahhh!! So many updates! NICE!! Ok Sanaa looks AMAZING! We love Indian food, and this looks sooo good! I don't know when we'll get there though which is stinky!! Well, it's on my bucket list. So is the bathroom :thumbsup2 Then pre-Sanaa I forget to mention that we both LOVEDDDD the crab and shrimp bisque at Narcoossee's. OMG so delicious. NOW O'hana, we felt the same exact way! Except our meat server wasn't very nice so it was just a meh experience. Lastly, so cool you did KTTK!!! DH and I want to do it at some point, it's on our list as well lol. DEF try CHH again, it's our favorite CS place for lunch in MK. DH gets the fish basket (sometimes the fish and chicken combo) and I get the tuna sandwich on mulitgrain bread. SO good. I'm sure that those fried fish baskets were not too yummy just sitting there waiting for you guys...:sad2:
Anyway, great reviews so far!! Loving your style!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Better late than never, huh?!? :) So glad you could join in and thanks for reading. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

So, I'm thinking we should plan a trip around the same time and meet up. lol. Seriously, we like the same stuff. Wild, huh? Please try to fit in Sanaa sometime...especially if you already dig Indian food. We had never had Indian food in our lives and loved Sanaa, so I cannot imagine the experience you would have.

Too bad about Ohanas, right? Seriously. That place gets so much hype that I COULDN'T WAIT to go there. What a bummer.

I would give CHH another chance, but I'm not sure about DH. That might take quite a bit of convincing (and a few bribery tactics, if you know what I mean ;)). I remember going there as a kid whenever we caught a CS at MK. It was our go-to spot, so I know it's good. Good luck to me trying to convince DH to pass up one of those juicy burgers from Pecos, though!

Thanks for joining in and reading! I remember reading your reviews during the countdown to our trip. Loved yours as well!

Ok I don't know if you know this, but I have a history of meeting Dis-buddies on here then actually PLANNING TRIPS together!! My Dis-buddy iheartpluto and I met on here and then coincidentally were in wdw at the same time last year for our 1 year anniversaries, so we met up and had a blast. Then we got in cahoots and each planned a November trip where we're meeting up for Drinking around the World and Kim Possible! Then a night EMH in EPCOT! So it's not that far off if we did this :rotfl: :rotfl2::banana:

Glad to see you guys liked Sanaa. It's my favorite non signature restaurant.

The Kulfi is passion fruit flavored, fyi. That was my fav part of the dessert sampler.

Sorry 'Ohana wasn't good. I'm kind of nervous about it - I have a dinner ADR there on an upcoming trip and I want to see what all the fuss is about.

Ha! That's too funny! Sounds like you're going to have a great time. I mean seriously, drinking around the world?! How can that NOT be fun?!

Yes, Sanaa was fabulous. Also, thanks for the info on the Kulfi. :goodvibes

Don't be nervous about Ohana. Everyone has their own opinion and each experience is different. It may be so good that it kicks Sanaa out of your number one slot! :) Just be open minded and give it a shot. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Well, here it is...the last dinner of our trip. (sniff, sniff :sad2:)

We had such a fabulous dinner at Le Cellier on the last night of our engagement trip, so we decided we would make it a tradition to eat here on our last night of every trip.

I did not take any pictures of the food because: a.) we had been here before, and b.) we were practically sitting on top of the couple beside us. I thought it might be a bit weird.

We definitely knoew what we wanted. We started out at the Canadian beer/popcorn stand and got some popcorn and some Moosehead. I loved the Moosehead Light and DH LOVES the regular. He has talked about this beer for an entire year now, and he evern "saved up" for this night. Well, we got our beer and some popcorn and waited on a bench for our table.

When we got to our table we met our server, who was in training. I have to say that out of 10 days on the DxDP this server was BY FAR our best of the week. She was simply fantastic and she made our last dinner fantastic.

For appetizers, we both got the Cheddar Cheese soup. Now THIS is what I had been talking about for a whole year. I swear, I could just eat three bowls of this with the pretzel bread sticks and be one happy camper. It is so cheesy, rich, creamy...perfect!

For entrees, we both had the filet with mashed potatoes and no mushrooms. So, so , SO good. One of the best steaks of the trip (tied with Narcoosies). These were perfectly cooked, deliciously spiced, and served with wonderful mashed potatoes.

For dessert, we got the maple creme brulee and the chocolate "moose".

We did the best we could because they were so good, but MAN...were we full!

This was a wonderful dinner. I love Le Cellier. I'm not sure if we will be able to swing it in the future since it is now 2 TS, but I sure hope so. We absolutely love it. This is one restaurant that certainly lives up to the hype. I would recommend for anyone to go there, especially if you are looking for a romantic meal. I have heard people complain about the atmosphere being too dimly lit and like you're in a basement...um...HELLO!! It's called Le Cellier and it's supposed to replicate a wine cellar. Of course it will be dimly lit and slightly cavernous...I enjoy the romantic feel of the place. Also, to those who compare it to Outback...please. Outback cannot shake a stick at Le Cellier...even on Outback's best day and Le Cellier's worst. To those who have never been: run, don't walk to Le Cellier. Oh, and go hungry. ;)

Thank you so much for your update and I'm so glad you posted LeCellier b/c we are trying it for the first time in December and I'm husband asked if its that good or is it a Hype.
I have enjoyed your Food review and sad its at the end.

Well, thanks so much for reading. It has been a great first dining review experience! I still have one day left though...also still have to review snacks, final thoughts, etc. So, stay tuned!

I really enjoyed all of your posts during your TR! Thanks for taking the time to reminisce with us. Our trip is coming up quickly - I can hardly wait!

We too will be going to Le Cellier - and I also do not understand why people complain of the atmosphere. Perhaps they've never really looked at the name of the restaurant? You don't need to comprehend French without seeing the obvious staring right at you - :lmao:

See you soon when your last post hits the board. :surfweb:

Congrats on your wedding!
Thank You so much for your awesome review! We are going on our "disneymoon" in Jan/Feb and are thinking of trying alot of these same restaurants. We also have the deluxe dining plan, and that is one thing that worries us both, is too much food!
We plan to do buffet breakfasts, some counters/snacks, and then table service dinners.

Who knows.. maybe we should start a review like yours! :confused3

Hey all! I'm subbing in!

Congratulations on your marriage! My FI and I will also be taking a Disneymoon next fall, so I like reading about others on theirs! :lovestruc Also your hubby is just like my FI: meat and potatoes only please! :rotfl:

Great reviews girl!

I hope you have a super trip and thanks for reading! Enjoy Le Cellier and have some cheese soup for me please.

Congrats on your wedding!

Thanks so much and congrats to you, too! I cannot think of a better place to honeymoon than D-World. It is simply perfect. Good luck on the DxDP...it's challenging but fun! My advice...have a breakfast around 9:30am, snack during the afternoon, and have a 2 TS dinner. We would definitely use that strategy on the DxDP again. Have a blast!

Thanks and congratulations to you! Have a super time and try to get your future husband to bend just a little on the meat and potatoes thing. D-World is the place to do it and he won't be disappointed. My DH said, "It Mickey made it, I will eat it." :lmao: Wait til you hear our update at the end of the review. You will definitely appreciate the turn my DH has taken.

So, we have come to the last day of the trip. So sad. Looking back, I cannot believe how fast it went...

Our last lunch was at Yak and Yeti. I was excited about this one because I LOVE Asian food. When we got there, it was pouring rain outside and the lobby of the restaurant was totally packed. It was a bit of a wait until we got our table, but we got a great table upstairs. Man, this place is LOUD but the decor is amazing!

For our appetizer, we shared the dim sum basket for two.
Honeymoon378.jpg

I have no idea what we were eating. And, to be honest, it was a little strange. I think it was weird that everything was the same exact color. It almost looked raw. (Please forgive my lack of dim sum knowledge.) Nothing tasted bad, just a little too odd for us.

DH got the Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp for his entree.
Honeymoon379.jpg

The presentation was cool, and he liked the shrimp. He was not that crazy about the steak. Here's the deal: Do NOT go to Yak and Yeti for steak after eating the filet at Narcoosees, Le Cellier, and Cali Grill. Those are all tough competition and I feel DH should've known better. :confused3

I was blown away by my entree, the Crispy Mahi Mahi.
Honeymoon380.jpg

This was one of the most spectacular fish dishes I have ever eaten. Ever. The fish was unbelievably flaky, the panko was crunchy, and the sauce was sooooo freaking good. I really wish I could eat this again right now. I'm not sure if I should admit this or not, but I think I enjoyed this entree more than any other on this trip...or at least just as much as some of the others.

For dessert, we each got the Fried Wontons.
Honeymoon381.jpg

I know everyone raves about these, but I was a bit skeptical. I'm not big on desserts with cream cheese...Give me anything else with cream cheese (a bagel, crab dip, spinach dip, etc.) and I'm lovin' it. But give me a dessert with cream cheese (even cheesecake) and it tastes a bit sour to me. However....these wontons were awesome. They were a perfect finish to this meal. The cold ice cream was a great addition, as well.

As you can tell, I loved Yak & Yeti. It was such a great end to the trip. I think it will take some convincing to get DH to go back, but I'm sure he'll agree. He didn't hate it, it just wasn't his favorite meal of the trip.

Side note: If you go to Yak & Yeti, make sure you use the bathroom...well, at least wash your hands. The hand dryers were the coolest freakin' things either of us had ever seen. Definitely worth a trip and a quick handwashing. (No, we don't have some weird bathroom fetish. We just can appreciate the little things. lol)

Up Next...Snacks, Highlights, Rankings, and What We Would Do Differently Next Time

Heather, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and enormous effort to post all your dining reviews. Lurkers like me definitely appreciate every word and picture.:thumbsup2

We are looking forward to Narcoosee's on our next trip, your review confirms my choice.

Congrats on your marriage and I look forward to your final thoughts. :)
