I didn't know this

I got a letter from WDW today, the one in the blue envelope like when I paid my deposit. Well, I paid my deposit back in May for this March, 2005 trip so I called to see what the deal was. It seems everytime you call to check on your reservation it generates a letter. I have called several times about AAA discounts so I guess I can expect more of these blue envelopes. By the way, no AAA discount in the system yet.

Also, the CM tried to tell me I had to send in additional money for my deposit since the price went up since I booked my room. I got a letter from WDW saying I did not have to pay more and read the letter to her. I still have a reservation as of now at least. I guess I will keep a check on this but that will also mean even more blue envelopes.

I thought once you had a reservation and you paid a deposit that it is locked in to that price you got even if that goes up. Thanks for telling me about the evenlopes, I must call alot because I get alot, I just called today to drop the silver plan and just do the dreammaker package, :D

That only applies for periods where WDW has released their rates. If she booked her March 2005 trip before the 2005 rates were published, they will accept her reservation but her rate is not locked and will change when they set the room rates for 2005... then it is "locked".

For some reason, I get a blue Disney envelope every week or so; I made our ressies about a month ago, and I've gotten 6-7 confirmations. I have called a couple times to check on it or change dates, but not that many. One day I got three in the same day.

I was told when I called for about booking our trip next year that they would make the ressie at this year's rates (because 2005 rates were not out at that time) and I would have to pay the deposit within 14 days; then if the rates increased, I would have to pay the difference on what the deposit would be with next year's rates.

Thank you so much for clearing up the mystery of the blue envelopes. I was always checking on other event tickets and, after each call, I would get an envelope in the mail. It did cause quite a bit of confusion. It now makes sense!

No AAA rate in the system? I am a AAA member and paid for the trip (air and hotel) with the AAA rate in Disney Travel's system, back in March 2004 for a November 2004 trip. The only AAA rates they did not have were for park tickets.

I called AAA and they were clueless as to which AAA can offer a special ticket discount for AAA members.

Have a magical day!

disneyaggie ~ I think the OP meant that there were not AAA room-only rates in the system yet. The package rates for 2005 are available for AAA, but not the room-only rates. I am waiting for those to come out too.

Also, the AAA website I go to has special ticket rates for 4 day park hoppers. Only 4 day hoppers, though. Offhand, I do not remember the cost -- a little cheaper than Disney's advance purchase price. If the reps you are talking to on the phone don't know about it, check AAA's website under discounted tickets. We have Disney, US, IOA, and Six Flags Great America listed as having discounted tickets.
