I didn't know the baby's powers so I covered the basics: An Oct. '11/March ‘12 PTR

Sorry! Sorry! I wanted to put up No. 3 yesterday, but we ended up being at Keith and Lala's house all day for Tanner's birthday party. When we got home late last night, Franklin and I both crashed HARD! So you get a double-dose of the countdown today. And then it's time for us to pack! I work tonight and tomorrow night, so Franklin and I won't really see each other again until it's time to leave for the airport, so the packing will happen today.

30 Things I LOVE About Disney World

No. 3 -- Conquering thrill-ride fears

I told you all about how I conquered Space Mountain in 2010.

Then in 2011, I conquered another big fear: Rock-n-Rollercoaster.

I was most terrified of the ride’s take-off. :scared1: But I read somewhere that the take-off lasts 2.7 seconds, so I figured if I counted to three it would be over. Here’s me looking like I’m concentrating very hard on counting.

So I decided to give it a try, and it worked! The take-off was terrifying, but the rest of the ride was really fun. And I’m actually looking forward to riding it again this week.

Trying the new rides felt like a big accomplishment for me, the former ride chicken. There are two attractions I’ve yet to ride: Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror. Splash I can almost swear I will never ride. :sad2: I hate big drops, and well, the whole point of that ride is the biggest drop of them all. ToT on the other hand, I have the inkling to try it every now and then. So who knows? I just may give it a shot.

No. 2 -- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is and always has been my favorite ride at Disney World. The love affair started with a little white lie from my dad. When I was 4, he told me we were going on the Disney World train. :rolleyes1 But it didn’t matter, I was in love with the ride!

I usually require a minimum of five or six rides on BTM each trip. This trip, however, will be completely different -- BTM is under refurb. So I guess maybe we’ll just have to schedule a BTM-only day when we go back in October to make up for it!

30 Things I LOVE About Disney World

No. 1 -- First sight of the castle

You know the feeling: You slide your ticket into the turnstile and walk underneath the Train Station. The first thing you notice is the blast of the beautiful blue sky and the hustle and bustle of the goings on on Main Street. But none of that really matters because your eye is trained straight ahead, on the gleaming castle in the distance.

The first time you see the castle on any trip feels like coming home. The sight screams “I’m at Disney World.” And there’s no better feeling in the world.

So that’s it friends, the end of our countdown. Which means IT’S TIME TO GO TO DISNEY WORLD! :dance3: Our checked bag is packed (yes, note the singular bag there -- Franklin and I managed to get both our stuff into one bag that is underweight. It’s almost like we’ve got this Disney packing thing down or something :lmao:.). I’ll finish packing my carry-on this afternoon before having to work. Luckily my boss took pity on my early flight and is letting me work from home this evening, which will save me at least an hour and a half travel time and also will let me get stuff done around here while I work. I feel much less panicked now that I’m working from home.

There's so much to look forward to on this trip: dinner at 'Ohana, lunch at Le Cellier, exploring Boardwalk for the first time since making it our home resort and, of course, seeing Tanner's reaction to EVERYTHING! It's going to be a wonderful trip and I wanted to thank you all for joining me on the journey to planning it. I'll hopefully get to do some live check-ins while I'm there. And then once I'm home again, it'll will be time to fire up another trip report!

Yayyyyyy!!!!! It's time to go!! I hope you have a safe and fun trip, can't wait for the TR!

We're here! We got to Florida, everything went smoothly getting the rental car and getting to our Windsor Hills house. And I even got a little sprinkle of pixie dust on the ride from the airport : Our DVC contract has closed! A perfect way to start our vacation. Off to Animal Kingdom we go...

Just a quick update. Franklin has sailed waaaaaaay beyond the 2000 photo over/under we set. Lots of fun photos to look forward to.

Gotta go, Beauty and the Beast is about to start.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for Big Thunder Mountain!!!

:banana::banana: For seeing the castle for the first time. I know exactly the feeling you are talking about. Even my jaded boys believe that every trip to Disney should start at MK.
