Sony A550 and CZ 16-80 are on the way! (sorry, Groucho, no Pentax this time...) Negotiating with a seller on a used Sony 70200G now. Going to Disney in a week and a half with the new toys!

I got my A500 today. :thumbsup2 It is definitely an upgrade from the A300. :cloud9: I am taking it to softball tryouts tomorrow to see how it shoots in the gym. I hope you enjoy the A550!

Congratulations! And good luck on getting the 70-200! :)

And congratulations to you too polkadotminnie!!

Awesome and congrats, hope you share some shots when you get back!

Thank you all!

Code, I will defnitely have LOTS of new shots - flower and garden festival starts the day we arrive, and I'll be breaking in all the new stuff. It killed me to spend so much on that one lens, but I didn't like what I was reading about the Sigma (and seeing) and didn't like the build and the AF speed of the Tamron. I had X-dollars set aside for the whole purchase, so even though the Sony lens put me just over my budget, I'm not nearly as afraid that I wil regret it in a year (or 2 weeks).

Congratulations, Polkadotminnie!

That's it, you're dead to me!

Just kidding of course. :) Hope you enjoy your camera! Get as much practice as you can in before the trip, and remember to check your settings often!

Congrats on your new toys! :cool1:

Congrats indeed...and welcome to the A5xx family! :) I've had a ball with my A550, as it has now passed 25,000 shutter actuations since November...it gets quite a workout when I go birding, and of course when I go to Disney every few months. You've got a great lens to pair with it, and should be very happy with the results. It's wonderful to be able to shoot clean ISO6400 shots without requiring any post processing - and wait until the first time you try the 7fps mode - you'll think Al Capone and his Tommy gun just opened fire on you.

Looking forward to your first shots, and of course any questions on the camera, feel free to ask.

:sad1:

Groucho, It was a TOUGH decision, trust me. Funny about the settings... When I took my A200 out to Disney for a very important photographic trip last July, I had bumped my ISO to go into some dark rides. I didn't reset it after that and my whole set outdoors that afternoon (the IMPORTANT shots, of course) was, well... pretty wretched. When I sent that camera to my DD today I put in a big note about resetting her ISO afterward if she goes on a dark ride or queue.

Pozey - toy #2 will be here Thursday. I'm tracking it on UPS... :goodvibes

Justin, I LOVE the 7 fps. It's sooooo cool! I really need the weather to clear up so I can take it out before Disney next week. The cat can only tolerate me shooting at her so much.
