Woohoo! Congrats, can't wait to see some shots. I really like mine (not only because of the fact I can use it in lower light). I think it's really sharp when stopped down a bit, I lobe the shallow DOF i get when I use it wide open and it's so lightweight...adds hardly anything to the bag so there's never a reason to leave it at home!

Enjoy. I love my nifty fifty. Its pretty much all I use right now. A few times I've thrown my kit on but its rare. Gotta love the bokeh from it.

Well...I'm not a Canon user (and not sure mine are really that sharp) but here you go anyway.

Baby crying = f/1.8, ISO 200, 1/30

Christmas Ornament = f/1.8, ISO 800, 1/15

Cat = f/1.8, ISO 1600 (no idea why), 1/160

Roses = f/1.8, ISO 200, 1/4000 (hmmmm)

Guy on couch = f/1.8, ISO 500, 1/40

and they both look like the cat i used to have( passed away), duncan, aka skunkers ( we never call our pets by their names and the one i have now is a girl and i always call her "HE"

Well...I'm not a Canon user (and not sure mine are really that sharp) but here you go anyway.

i went back over a couple i had i know were that lens and they are ok around f5-8 or so but nothing is sharp lower than that, i mean the whole photo is soft, not like I'm focusing on the wrong place and the dof is short( which of course it is that low) and the speed is like 200, so even for me that ought to be enough to be able to get a sharp portion . like the baby and couch one even the face wouldn't be sharp and yours are.......it would be kind of nice if it was just my lens stunk...maybe i 'll go to the camera shop and see if i can try one out and how it works compared to mine
