ATT uverse Cable and Internet was $140 a month. 40 internet/100 cable. So a veteran of having no home telephone line- cell only since 1999 and DSL back then for internet I whacked cable two weeks ago. If you have gone this route or have always been, share with us your best places to watch and your cost (if you don’t mind)

Current set-up /Cost
Outdoor HD Antenna $60 – one time cost
Roku Box – a wireless access point to TV- (went this way since I already had blue ray.) $99 -one time cost

Monthly-
Hula Plus $8 per month
Netflix $8 per month

Savings per month $100-$20 = $80 or $960 a year.

Just watched ESPN 3 – live college basketball – on my TV via my hdmi port on my laptop. Watched livestream.com and the blues/jazz reggae festival out of Jamaica last weekend, although big names appeared not to be part of the broadcast via my laptop.

What’s your favorite internet broadcast site? Does it do live and what about HD?

Thanks for sharing

I think my favorite is amazon prime... it has much of the same content as netflix for $80/year and lets you rent instantly if you want something extra. There are random things one will have that the other doesn't, but content is very similar. I got a $5 credit for signing up with my roku player and rented "the help" for free without having to pick it up and return it OR wait for it to get mailed.

Occasionally you can catch something on the channel's website. I used to watch the big bang theory that way.

It probably does HD, but my TV is from the mid-90's so I don't really pay attention to that.

We live in the middle of nowhere, so sadly no broadcast TV available even with the big antenna. Our satellite service was up to $96 a month. It was ridiculous for the amount of TV we watch, so we axed it. 3 days later, they called with a retention offer of $25 a month...we thought that was fair. A few less channels, but most of the ones we watched.

That said, Netflix is perfect for those with kids especially! Everything they watch is on! Even new episodes of the Disney channel shows!
