I couldnt get out the word "YES"! (An engagement TR)

as you can guess from the title of the thread "IM ENGAGED"

this is us:

Ive always wanted to do a trip report ..... hope you dont mind if i do it here to set the scene of how it happened? Sorry if i'm breaking rules but thought that as it's an enegement story people here wouldnt mind?

Yesterday was my 30th Birthday. I've not been looking forward to turning 30 so my Neil (referred now to as DF Disney Fiancé - OH MY GOD I can finally say that!!!) decided to do something special to cheer me up.

He decided to take me to Planet Hollywood in London, UK as I loved the one in DTD. He asked what else i'd like to do ..... "Hamleys" the famous London toys store came straight to my mind. Perhaps the fact that I didnt want to turn 30 played a part in that - turning 30 and spending hours in a toy store are a strange combination

Then I mentioned i've always wanted to go on "The London Eye". For those that dont know what that is, its a fair ground big wheel but on a VERY large scale on the edge of the River Thames. Here it is:

Then on Friday at work I get presented with £50 worth of Disney Store vouchers (again, a strange present for a 30year old, but they know how much I love disney!) So I looked up Oxford street on the web to see where the nearest disney store is – and low and behold right opposite Bond Street tube station is a Disney store.

So the places to visit list is ......
Hamleys
London Eye
Planet Hollywood
Disney Store

Anyway on to Sunday 27th July ..........

Sunday morning my wonderful then “boyfriend” wakes up and takes the dogs out for a walk on his own so that I can have a lie in. It was great!
Get up when he gets back, have a bath and go downstairs to open all my pressies and cards. Among them were body butter and other smellies, dvds (Enchanted). From DF I get a Skyline by Autoart car model (Skylines are my fav car, especialy in purple) and a track day experience at Brands Hatch (which im sooooo excited about)

So, 10am comes around and our dog sitter arrives (actually he’s df’s friend Scott) .... then were off. We head to my parents who live a stones throw away from an underground station. So after the initial hellos and goodbyes and hugs we leave the car outside their house & were on our way on the underground train towards the centre of london. The good weather had decided to spring up in full force so it was mega hot. In England we dont get many hot days so I wasnt going to moan (although I did have the occasional “Wow its hot and sticky”)

First we head towards Disney Store but get side tracked into HMV (darn DVD special offers!!) I end up spending my mums birthday money on Indiana Jones Lego game for my DS (I LOVED the star wars Lego game so I know I’ll love this). Father of the Bride 1 & 2 dvd as well as The Beach with Leonardo Caprio in it (like this film because it reminds me of the Maldives, mine and DF’s first holiday together location). DF picks up Wild Wild West featuring Will Smith – which I later find out the guy has not put in the bag so I’ve had to order it for him again RRAARRRRR!!!

Then into the Disney Store. I wanted to get a snow globe with some princesses on but they had about 3 different ones and none of which has a princess on. As we were walking out I notice a binder with Sleeping Beauty on and said to my DF I was going to get one to use as my wedding folder when we finally end up getting married. Now I realise what he said next I should have picked up on .... he said “Why dont you get one now while you can” How silly am I ... I must have had my Disney goggles on and just didnt think about what he said. Anyway I didnt get it in the end *** I said they would have plenty more when the time comes

We decide we fancy an ice cold drink. I saw a mcdonalds sign and fancy a strawberry shake. Fight our way into there ask for a shake and I get told “we dont do milkshakes” ***??????? A mcdonalds that doesnt do milkshakes??????? So we decide to head to Burger King instead as we prefer their shakes anyway. It turns out it was quite a walk but we had time to spare. About 15 minutes later we arrive at burger king and get told “we dont do shakes!” Great place London!! NOT!!! So right around the corner is another McDonalds and I decide to try there ....... I hit jackpot! So I have a muffin with mine and DF has a donut with his.

All refreshed and full we head to the Playboy store just down the road. I could have spent lots but decide not to because I’m planning on big weight loss so it would be a waste of money. Im a big fan of Girls of the Playboy Mansion. Its such a feel good program. With all the bad stuff on tv in dramas and news, it makes a change to watch a program where everyones so happy (although I do feel a little depressed watching such beautiful skinny girls, but hey I’ll look like that one day! Ha ha ha ha)

Then we arrive at Hamleys. I was expecting something like the toy store from the film BIG starring Tom Hanks. The famous walk on piano that he and the store owner play on. I was going to re-en-act that famous scene. Anyone know what I’m talking about???

Well, unfortunately its nothing like that! Its actually quite small floor space – however there are 5 floors plus a basement so put them altogether and I’m sure its massive. But it still feels small for some reason?! We especially liked the film memorabilia section (they had some great stuff including life size versions of the Nimbus 2000 and one of the first broomsticks Harry Potter learns to fly on. I didnt see the price but I dont think my bank account would stretch to it unfortunately. I did however nearly buy a copy of the Triwizard Cup and a lovely statue of Batmans mask.

I’m currently doing a film room as DF and I have so much memorabilia between us, so they would have gone perfect ... but we didnt.

After a couple of hours in there we emerged with only a Disney “Cars” model.

We walked quite a bit more to find planet hollywood but on the way passed the “Cheers” bar and decided to go in for a cooling drink. It was nothing like the TV series but we did welcome and ice-cold lager.

Finally we find the resturant but we weren’t hungry so decided to find the eye. After alot of walking we arrive and its just SOOOOOOOO busy. The queue was so long and everyone was standing in the baking hot sun. I said to DF that we could do it another time as it was too (BIG MISTAKE – this is where I ruined DF’s plans!! I didnt pick up on his disappointment as I later found out he was planning on popping the question when we got to the top! ) Que’s are so much more bearable when your waiting in a disney parks aren’t they

As were walking away we notice signs saying “Movieum” – oh a museum about movies ..... how brilliant ........

Thank you everyone ..... heres part 3 (sorry I was so tired last night after doing part 2 I couldnt keep my eyes open any longer!)

*Off subject* Have recently seen Batman The Dark Knight - its fantastic if anyone has been undecided about it - GO SEE IT (although I think you guys in the US are in front of us so it's probably not in the cinema anymore?

And Christopher Reeve was smaller than I expected

anyway , here is the final and most exciting installment ......

So we get into Planet Hollywood and get a table straight away. It was no where near as big as DTD, and had no aircon so we were baking! But I was enjoying myself. It only 1 floor half the size of DTD PH

I would have looked weird photographing my food in a london resturant so no food porn – SORRY!!

Unfortunately we weren’t too hungry so just had a pasta dish each. When we finished our mains DF went missing for a little while. Id earlier gone to the rest room so understood he may be a while, plus with the memorabilia on the walls I knew he would get side tracked. I found out he had been trying to organise something special for me (be it a birthday cake with the wording “will you marry me” around the plate. But in England they dont share the same enthusiasm as disney people, so he couldnt get anything except 2 candles stuck into my dessert. It was the thought that counts)

Anyway, we order some dessert. I wanted to try the White chocolate bread pudding. So they arrive (with my 2 candles) and we start to eat it. The conversation turns to how the day has been and DF asks “Have you had a good day” to which I replied “its been brilliant”. DF asks “Have you done and got everything you wanted” I say “oh god yeah. I couldnt have asked for better presents”

Why I didnt say “Oh except an engagement ring” I dont know!!!??????? But I didnt.

I say thanks for the track day and car model and add “ohhhhhhh, except a real skyline. Ohhhhhh is that what I’ve got at home waiting for me. Is that a surprise” DF replies “I wish” and we laugh.

He asks “you sure there’s nothing else you want” I reply “no its been a great day” ....

He then .......

Puts a ring box opened up in front of me and says “so you wont be wanting this and you wont be wanting to marry me then”

I gasp and covered my face in order not to cry (ive been very emotional lately and crying at the slightest horrible thing, so didnt want to ruin the moment by associating it with a negative feeling!) So I make a muffled scream instead

Luckily it was busy and loud so no one heard me (I dont like being the centre of attention to be honest).

He said “is that a yes then” and I replied “yes” – think I should have been myself and just said “HELL YEAH” but it was special and thought I shouldnt be so common

We put the ring on and I kept stretching across the table to give him a kiss with the occassional low key scream. Beaming ear from ear and staring non-stop at my stunning ring. Turns out he’s had it made up from a picture we’ve had for a while (actually its a picture of a ring I found when we were in florida last year!) and his friend has been holding it so I didnt come across it.Apparently I go searching for pressies- dont know where he gets that idea from

This picture doesnt do the ring any justice but gives you a general idea...... I love it!

It turns out the clasp is a Tiffany clasp. I keep reading on the boards about tiffany rings that brides keep falling in love with, so when he said it, disboards popped straight into my head!

It also turns out a week earlier DF and his friends Paul & Scott had made the 60 mile trip late on friday evening to visit my dad and ask him if he could ask me to marry him. This shocked me because my Neil does what he wants and doesnt seek anyone’s approval, but that really did make me happy. Apparently he said it was ok lol. DF may have planned it right because my dad was in the pub at the time

So thats my story ....... oh however .........

During the excitement I managed to get out in some way “can I have a disney wedding” and he didnt hesitate to say “Yes. If you want a disney wedding then its your day and you can have one”!!! OH MY GOODNESS - i dont post here much, but I once posted that I loved reading everyones stories because I didnt think I would ever have my own disney wedding as my other half kept saying no - so to hear him say yes just put the chery on the cake

Its still all sinking in, but I expect over the next few weeks when I start referring to him as my fiance it will all seem real .... but for now just looking down at my stunning ring will have to do.

Sorry if it seemed a bit long winded for just an engagement TR but thought what the hell, I’m excited so thought I’d write it. So thank you for reading and I can wait to start my planning journal one day on here
