I Could Have Had a Cruise. Instead, I'm Going to WDW! May 2010 PTR - ONE MORE DAY!!!

I'll be the harassed looking woman with two children and instead of being an Olympic speed walker, I'll be drooling over all the baked goods in all the different countries. :lmao:

YAY!:yay: I didn't realize so many of us would be in EP on Saturday evening. I have a hard enough time keeping my own schedule straight! ;) We just need to plan to grab a meeting place and watch Illuminations together ! :thumbsup2

I knew the ADR switcharoo was coming. I switched 5 of mine last night :):scared1:
All of ya'll going to be at Epcot-hmmm I was planning on MK but Epcot is VERY close and we will be going to EMH at MK on Sun.....I am up for a MEET and some CRAZINESS!!!

Wow! Five!? Mary, that's impressive! :worship:

Subbing.....now I gotta go back and read the juicy details. Be back later to make comments.

:welcome: Lisa! It's great to see you!

Leanne, I forgot you would be there! I remember reading that now!

I hope you can watch some Illuminations with us!

Does anyone have a favorite place to watch in Epcot? We like France. There's a place next to the bridge along the water where there's room for kids to run around.

Megan, I think France would be great! Since it's been so long since we've seen Illuminations, what time do y'all think we should meet?

I can do France Megan! I don't have a particular spot. I haven't made it over to see it our last two trips so I'm just super excited to get to see it again. Meeting my DIS friends would be a great bonus! :cheer2:

Yay! I'm so excited Leanne!

Now ya'll got me questioning some of my ADRs, Thanks A LOT....... :rolleyes1:lmao:.

That's what we're here for! :rotfl:

Michelle, I didn't realize it either. Yay! Illuminations with DIS friends!

Ok, so now that we’ve finally figured out the whole resort thing, I’ll continue with our plans. Sunday morning we’ll wake up at a decent time so we make opening for MK. Since we’re not staying at the Poly now, we’ll be driving to the TTC and then getting on the monorail. (Well, we changed back to the Poly so we'll just have to walk to the TTC) The kids think the monorail is great. I’m starting to wonder if they think that it’s a ride in WDW. I enjoy it too. I got a T-shirt last trip that has the Spanish spiel about stepping away from the doors.

Anyway, we’ll arrive at MK and watch the opening show. This is one of my favorite things in WDW. It’s one of those things that makes me feel like I’m officially in WDW.

And then we’ll enter into Main Street with a million other people. And then I’ll see it. No not the castle, although that is a beautiful sight. I’ll see the Main Street Bakery. Be still my heart. I think between this, and the Boardwalk Bakery, I’m going to have no trouble using my snack credits. I don’t know if I’ll make it into the bakery on our way in but I’m sure I’ll be making a trip there sometime this morning.

After a couple of pictures in front of the castle we’ll either head left or right. It’s very rare that we head up the middle. Last year we headed to Splash Mountain first.

IMG_1634w.jpg

I’m going to guess that we’ll try to do the same thing this time. We’ll all get to ride if Lauren is tall enough. For the past couple of trips I’ve sat out from riding Splash Mountain and BTMR so I’m really excited about possibly riding them. After those two rides, we’ll probably just go with the flow. We like the Carpets, PoC, Tiki Room, and Haunted Mansion which y’all know are around that area. We might also head into the area of Fantasyland that runs into Frontierland. So we might get to Small World, Peter Pan, Carousel, and maybe Toontown. The plan for lunch is to eat at Pecos Bill. My favorite thing to eat at Pecos Bill is the carrot cake. YUM! I said cake y’all. :woohoo: Why does Disney make cake so available to us? I think that’s one reason I love Disney so much. I get to eat cake all day long if I want (and come home with some extra pounds). :lmao:

After lunch, we’ll probably wander around some more, ride some of the rides mentioned above, and I’m sure we’ll have to look around in the Emporium. Why did they have to put all that wonderful shopping and the bakery in one area? It takes us forever to leave MK. I’ll probably want to grab a snack from the bakery and then we’ll make our way to the monorail, TTC and then the van.

We’ll spend the afternoon at the YC relaxing in the room, playing at Stormalong Bay, taking pictures of the resort, and exploring the resort. Maybe Lauren will even take a nap (she likes her naps). (We'll still hang out at the pool and everything else, it will just be at the Poly instead)

Our ADR at Coral Reef is at 4:45 so we won’t have to rush to make that. We’ll probably be at the park by 4:00. SSE is the first thing we’ll see and probably the first ride for the night. We’ll then head to The Seas for our Coral Reef dinner. Completely new restaurant for us so we’re all excited about eating here! I’m still leaning toward having the Blackened Catfish with Pepper Jack Cheese Grits. Umm….can I just have some of that right now? And don’t forget the Chocolate Wave! Come to Mama!

After dinner we’ll probably wander around WS and maybe work on finishing the kids’ masks and I’m sure we’ll have to go on Nemo. I’m having a hard time remembering that we won’t be leaving from the front now. We get to now leave by using the International Gateway. Woohoo! So we may do some stuff in Future World and then move to the WS. We probably will leave at a decent time since the next day we’re planning on going to early entry for AK the next morning.

Alicia, your plans for your MK day sound great! I love that about WDW as well - the abundance of such lovely little treats. Can I tell you something that will shock you? I have never stepped foot into the Main Street Bakery. Maybe I should fix that this trip.

I normally hit my spot in France by about 8:15 for Illuminations. We have a seat on the ledge away from the water. The kids play. We are close to snacks if anyone wants something. We always have stuff for the kids to play with while they wait. Sam normally approaches other kids in the area and asks them to play while we wait. It is a circular area, so they know not to pass me up because the only thing behind me is the stairs to go up to the bridge. The boat for the Illuminations cruise passes right next to us. It's just a nice spot. No one is going to encroach on your space. People may go in front of me and stand at the iron fence along the water, but we sit on the ledge which allows us to see above anyone who comes our way.

Pics from our last time in France for Illuminations...Bonus for you - we'll be right next to the International Gateway for your quick exit.

I made an ADR at Chefs de France at 710p so we will meet ya after. I am going to post this on the Mayhem report as well.

That looks like a great spot!

Guess what Megan? Our last trip was the first time I've been to the Main Street Bakery! You'd think as much as I love cake I would have been there a million times. I'm going to have to make up for lost time!

That's a great spot! Lots of room for the kiddos to play around in. 8:15 is around the time we would probably start findin a spot to watch too so that sounds great!

Okay, so I'm now all caught up. But, I left my notes at home on everything I wanted to comment on. :headache:

First off, my daughter is in Knoxville as we speak, well type. She's there for a conference with her Mission Georgia group. Her boyfriend's family pastor a church there in Knoxville. Small world huh.

Since I don't remember what it was I wanted to comment on (my mind seems to do that more and more often the older I get), I guess I'll just say that I love the opening ceremony at the Magic Kingdom. I can rarely get my hubby up and running early enough to catch it though.

Glad to see that you're trying the Coral Reef. It's fantastic. My husband refuses to order anything but the Blackened catfish and pepper jack cheese grits. Yummy!

YAY Alicia for your plans for MK morning! :cheer2: I must be honest and admit that I, too, have never been in Main St. Bakery! I will correct that situation during at least one of my two upcoming trips!

Another admission----I've never seen the opening show at MK! Double:eek::eek: !

So, let me get this straight----Mini-DIS meet Sat. 22, to watch Illuminations near France. :woohoo: Is that right?

I just found your pre-trip report and love it.
I love your Disney nights. I was thinking about starting something like that but am not very creative. Maybe just a Disney movie night.
We will be there May 22- June 1. It seems like it is taking forever to get here doesn't it.

Wow! It is a small world! Do you mind me asking what church? I'm pretty sure it's not ours since I haven't heard about a conference being held there. It was nice here until today. It's rainy and not quite as warm. Hopefully she's staying dry.

Mike is what I would call the enforcer of our group. He can wake up and get moving quickly no matter how little sleep he gets. Me, I tend to wake up slower than him. So if he thinks we need to be at the park by a certain time, and I'm not getting ready fast enough, he'll start bugging me about moving faster. Can get quite interesting too since most of the time I haven't had a lot of coffee by that point and I'm not a happy camper until I've had my coffee!

Anything that says it has cheese and grits is going in my tummy! It's just an awesome combination! We've heard differing reviews on Coral Reef so that's probably one reason we haven't tried it before now but we're feeling pretty excited about going there.

REALLY?! I've seen the opening so many times I can sing the song. We probably wouldn't have seen it as many times as we have if Mike didn't keep bothering me to get ready faster the mornings we go to openings. That and the kids wake up before 7:00 most mornings!

I had some kind of cake (imagine that!) for breakfast one morning from the Main Street Bakery. It was SOOOO GOOD!!! I don't know why I never thought of going in there before. But now that I know they have cake, it's going to be my new favorite place!

So, let me get this straight----Mini-DIS meet Sat. 22, to watch Illuminations near France. :woohoo: Is that right?

That sounds right to me. Can't wait to see everyone! :woohoo:

:welcome: pinkxray! I've gotten quite a few ideas from this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1707141 There are a ton of ideas on there. Most of the time, I just try to figure out the menu and then I'll head to the craft store and try to find something that's inexpensive and fun to do that fits into our theme. Tonight is Frontierland night! So excited. I don't want to give too much away right now but I will tell you that cake will be served.:yay:

I just sent Lacey a text asking her where the conference is being held and the name of Jesse's dad's church. She travels so much that I can't keep up with what state she is in much less the name of the venue they are at. I know that Jesse's dad's church is not a traditional church per se. They dress like bikers most of the time. But, they are good people as they travel all over the United States helping children who have been abused. Once Lacey responds, I'll let you know.

From the minute my feet hit the floor, I am movin' and ready to go. John on the other hand, is a pretty slow mover.

I think you'll enjoy the Coral Reef. We haven't had a bad meal there yet. And, the atmosphere is cool.

Well, this is going to be one busy weekend! Tonight is our fourth Disney night! I can't believe it! It's kind of special since Mike picked it and this weekend is his birthday. I'll have to let y'all know how it went later.

Then tomorrow night, Mike and I are going to go out to eat for his birthday. Mom is going to watch the kids so we can go to eat by ourselves. I'm not sure where we're going but he's mentioned Carabas, Abuelos, and Olive Garden. We'll see. I'm definitely going to tell whoever our server is that it's Mike's birthday. Maybe they'll embarrass him!

Saturday is Mike's actual birthday. He'll be 35 years old!!! :lmao: Sorry, I just like to give him a hard time about how he's older than me. I'll be busy making a cake and mashed potatoes. I don't like to brag (but I will), but the mashed potatoes I make are so well liked, my MIL asks me to make them and bring them to her house. Y'all the potatoes have a ton of heavy cream and butter in them. They're bound to be good! So I'll be making enough mashed potatoes for 12 people to eat. For dinner, we're going to Mike's Mom's house where we'll enjoy her chicken casserole and my mashed potatoes and cake. YUM!

Then there's Sunday. Sundays are always busy. Between me singing in the choir in the morning, directing the 3rd and 4th grade children's choir, Alex and Lauren going to children's choir, and me singing in the choir during the evening service we're not home a whole lot on Sundays. This Sunday, Alex's choir will be singing during the evening service so I'll be rushing to get out of my choir to get downstairs to our sanctuary to hear Alex's choir sing

So that's what we're up to this weekend. That and probably tweaking our Disney schedule. I just can't leave it alone! Here in the near future, I'll have to post about how many times we've changed our ADRs for our anniversary dinner. It's insane! And we're still changing it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
