I Could Have Had a Cruise. Instead, I'm Going to WDW! May 2010 PTR - ONE MORE DAY!!!

Yikes! Quite a bit has happened on your Pre-trip Plan since I last looked!! The Yacht Club! How awesome! And you have quite the following sista! Loved LM night. We rented it 2 weeks ago and all my kids refuse to drive in the car without it now. Too funny. One day i WILL do a Disney night.

Wow, big change! I'm sure that it will be awesome to be at the Yacht Club, though. We wandered around there on our trip and it seemed really nice. And you'll have Stormalong Bay! We're staying at the BCV on our next trip (early June), so I'm excited about that too!

And don't worry about the Tonga Toast--you can always take a quick monorail trip to the Poly from the MK and swing by Kona or Captain Cooke's to pick some up!

I think it was on our 2005 trip we went around to different resorts. One of them being the Yacht and Beach club (I guess they technically two different resorts). We loved it! It's always been a resort we've thought of staying at but it has never been at the front of the list. Now that we've stayed at most of the resorts we've been interested in, we've given it another look. The kids are going to flip over the pool!!! I'm still pinching myself. It all happened so fast!

Mmmm...Tonga Toast. We're still going to the Poly to eat at 'Ohana for dinner. so I'll get my Poly fix. I never thought about going there from MK...Oh dear!;)

I'm like a ninja! I move fast and strike quietly. :lmao: I'm just honored that anyone is interested in what we're doing. Most of the people I know are not Disney fanatics so it's nice to share my love for Disney with others who appreciate it.

I'm telling you, if I can do a Disney night, anyone can. They are a blast to plan!

Love the Little Mermaid night. Totally stealing all your ideas-I will give you credit though :)
Congrats on the YC-looks amazing!! We are 98% sure we are going to switch-probably to a moderate. We will have DVC for our next trip(s) and really can't justify the price tag of the Poly.

Mary, steal away! Lauren is still walking around the house wearing her princess crown she made.

Even though we initially started looking at other resorts because of money, the YC ended up not being a whole lot less expensive then the Poly. But we figured it's for our anniversary so we'll splurge a little this trip and probably go back to CBR next trip (which we very seriously considered going back to for this trip because we loved it so much).

Little Mermaid night looked like fun! I have been talking to Alisa and my SIL Stacey, and they are on board for all of us to have our Disney theme nights together. We were brainstorming ideas on our way back from New Orleans this evening. We are thinking our first night is going to be a POTC night - french bread pizzas with masts to make them look like pirate ships. We could do a beach scene with crumbled graham crackers and blue jello...chocloate gold coins. We could do a treasure hunt as an activity for the night. We came up with some cool things for Bug's life.

Congrats on the change to the YC! I'm sure yall will love it! Am I the only one not changing my trip? Repeat after me...I don't want the cake everyday. I don't want the cake everyday. There is no Boardwalk Bakery. Just kidding...It's going to be hard to avoind that one.

We'll be in Epcot on Saturday night as well. We have ADRs at Coral Reef and plan to watch Illuminations that night as well. Maybe we'll end up bumping into each other.

Megan, I love the french bread pizza idea! Mom sayed when it's her turn to pick she might pick POTC so I might have to steal that idea if it's okay. I don't know if I'll be using sand on the table again. Our cat Tigger had a little too much fun playing in it.:rolleyes1 He eventually got locked up until we were done with dinner. I like the scavenger hunt idea. I just may steal all of your ideas. ;)

I don't want the cake everyday. I don't want the cake everyday. I don't want the cake everyday. I do want the cake everyday. I do want the cake everyday. See. It doesn't work...:lmao:

We're eating at Coral Reef on Sunday night so we'll miss each other there by one night. I keep reading about people using lime green mickey's to identify other DIS members. Where do you get such a thing? I'll definately be keeping my eyes open for those. I think it would be so neat to see people from here while we're there. I wish we were staying a little later so we could go to the gathering but Mom and I have to get back so we can leave on Sunday to go to Washington D.C. with our church choir. We're going to get home Saturday afternoon, do laundry, repack our bags, go to church Sunday morning, and then leave after the morning services on busses to go to D.C. It's going to be a couple of busy weeks for us!

We can't make the meet either. Maybe next summer, so we'll see about that. The lime green Mickey heads can be found in the paint section at Home Depot. They are th e p aint chips for the Disney paint line.

We're staying at the BCV on our next trip (early June), so I'm excited about that too!
Boy, where was my brain when I wrote that? I didn't realize until it was quoted back to me, but it's November that we're staying at BCV. June is POFQ. Oops!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll have a great time at the Yacht Club! And I bet your kids will love that pool! And that's cool that you're going to 'Ohana...yum, yum!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only member of the "Switch em up Club". I change my vacation around so much I stop posting about it because I don't want everyone to think I'm nuts..........:lmao:. I have changed our ressies 3 times since booking...........

I am so in love with those pictures of the YC bedrooms... (sigh) :cloud9: Since we are staying at the BCV the FIRST NIGHT of our stay in June, I can almost be at that level of comfort... are the beds the same?? (hopeful?)

Seeing as we're switching rooms 3 times during our stay, I'm thinking about taking those "Jumping bed" pictures -- you know, where people jump onto the bed and someone snaps a picture while you're mid-air and it looks like you're flying over the bed? :rotfl: If I get this crazy look on my face like, "I LOVE THIS BED!", I think it would be fairly hilarious...

of course, none of you could see it. :upsidedow

I'm so happy for you in your switch -- can't wait for Storm Along Bay, and I'm sure your kids will love it!!!

Thank you Megan! I'll be sure to go pick some up before we go.

We didn't go to 'Ohana last year so I'm excited to go back there and eat the shrimp. Yummy! Yummy!

Dana, we are constantly tweaking our plans. Sometimes we've changed ADRs while at Disney. You'd think after so many trips we'd all have it figured out. :rotfl: If I had had a whole year to plan this trip who knows how many times I would have changed my mind! We may have tried to book every resort by now.:lmao:

Vickie, I think the beds are the same at the BC and YC. If you do take a picture you have to post it on your TR when you get back!

We were talking to Alex tonight about the YC. He was spinning a globe that we have in our dinning room and we told him the YC has a huge one in the lobby. He just simply said "I know. I spun it when we were there last time. It's a lot bigger than me and it's heavy." Um...he was only 3 when we visited the resort. It sometimes scares me how well he remembers things. I can't even remember what I ate for lunch today!

We interrupt this PTR with breaking news. We are not, I repeat, not, staying at the Poly anymore. Nor are we staying at the WL, or the CBR, or the AKL…What!? No, we’re staying somewhere I haven’t even mentioned in this PTR. We’ve decided that we will be staying at

The Yacht Club!

You’re probably asking “Where did this come from?” It’s Mike’s fault, really. Here’s the story:

Flashback to 2000 when Mike was planning our honeymoon, the very first resort he booked was the Beach Club. Not the Yacht Club; the Beach Club. Confused? It will be clear in a couple of minutes. After some time, Mike changed his mind and decided that we should stay at the WL instead. And we did, and we had a wonderful time.

Flash forward to this past Thursday. We started thinking about switching resorts (as Leanne called it, we got an itch to change something). We started naming other resorts we would like to stay at besides the Poly. Why? Mostly money. We thought that we could still have a good time even if we didn’t spend the money for the Poly. We talked about CBR, WL, and AKL. Mike contacted our travel agent Friday morning and asked her to price rooms at all three resorts. Now you’re thinking “What does this have to do with the YC?” :confused3 Patience grasshopper. Before Melissa (our travel agent) could even email us the prices we got cold feet and decided to forget about switching and stay at the Poly (once again).

Flash forward again to early Friday evening when Mike gets home. He was a little bored at work in the afternoon so he got on the DISboards. Bad DISboards! Maybe I’ll blame this on the DISboards instead of Mike. Yeah! That’s it! It’s the DISboards fault! :thumbsup2 Anyway, I asked him what he was looking at. “The Yacht and Beach club thread” was his answer. Now it’s starting to become clear, isn’t it? I then asked, “Are you interested in staying there?” (Maybe it’s my fault since I opened the door for him to voice his opinion…) He said, “Maybe, are you?” This is it! This is the moment of truth! I could have said yes and then we’d start the process of switching resorts and staying somewhere completely new; or I could have said no and we’d still be staying at a beautiful, familiar resort. What did I say? “Could we really go there?! That would be great! I’ve always wanted to stay there! They have a great pool! We’d be right next to Epcot and the Boardwalk Bakery (like I really need to be that close to a place that sells cake!)! That would rock!” (I may have been a little excited) :hyper: :yay:

But which one should we pick? The Yacht Club or the Beach Club? Both have newly renovated rooms and besides some little details, they look a lot alike now. But the Beach Club has rooms without balconies; so we chose the Yacht Club.

So Friday night, Mike emailed Melissa (again) :sad2:, and asked her to price a standard view room at the Yacht Club with DDP and parkhoppers. On a side note, Friday night was also our third Disney Night and Mom happened to be over so we started showing her pics of the Yacht Club and telling her all about it. She’s pretty excited too! Anyway, tonight we heard back from Melissa and we are good to go with the Yacht Club!!! Woohoo! And I promise, we will not switch resorts again. Because if we do, Melissa just might hunt us down…:lmao:

I have to post some pics:

Are u freaking kidding me?? those are the rooms!!?? holy @$%@! OMG! CBR no longer looks very exciting. :sad2:
I love how your daughter is your mini you! So cute. Enjoy!

So what do you think is happening now that we’ve changed resorts? We’re looking at changing some of our ADRs and park days. I’m convinced we’re going to have this all figured out before we leave (at least that’s what I keep telling myself).:rotfl:

Mike continues to be concerned with going to DHS on Saturday with Star Wars weekend going on. So we’re thinking about changing that day to an Epcot day. Plus, we’re trying to change our ADR for that night also. Mike read somewhere that Teppan Edo serves just plain Japanese sticky rice and he wasn’t too thrilled about it. He really likes Le Cellier so he checked to see if there was any openings any of the evenings we are going to Epcot. Nada! Zip! Zilch! We’ll keep checking on that but we decided that we would like to go back to San Angel Inn since we haven’t been there for awhile. So here’s a slightly revised schedule (I’m not even going to try to convince you that this is final.): :lmao:

Friday, May 21st – Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s 10:45/Dinner at T-Rex 4:00/Evening at MK

Saturday, May 22nd – Morning at Epcot, Lunch at Undecided/Afternoon at YC/Dinner at San Angel Inn 5:00 (or Le Cellier if it becomes available)/Evening at Epcot (stay for Illuminations)

Sunday, May 23rd – Morning at MK, Lunch at Pecos Bill/Afternoon at YC/Dinner at Coral Reef 4:45/Evening at Epcot

Monday, May 24th – Morning at AK, Lunch at Yak and Yeti or Pizzafari/Afternoon at YC/Dinner – Kids and Mom = Room Service, Mike and Me Yachtsman Steakhouse 5:10/Evening – Mike and Me at DHS, Mom and Kids at Epcot or around the YC

Tuesday, May 25th – Morning at Epcot, Lunch at Sunshine Seasons/Afternoon at YC/Dinner at CRT 5:25/Evening at MK

Wednesday, May 26th – Morning at DHS, Lunch at ABC Commissary/Afternoon at YC/Dinner at ‘Ohana 5:00/Evening at MK

Thursday, May 27th – Morning at MK, Lunch at Columbia Harbor House/Afternoon at YC/Dinner at Biergarten 5:30/Evening at Epcot

Friday, May 28th – Morning at MK, Lunch at Cosmic Ray’s/Afternoon – Drive to Ashburn, GA.

I think one afternoon while Mike and the kids hang out at the resort, Mom and I will venture to DTD for some shopping!

Along with some ADR changes, we’ve also decided to change our plan of attack for our first visit to DHS (which is now probably going to be on Wednesday now). Instead of splitting up with Mike and me going to ToT and Mom and the kids getting Fastpasses for TSM, I think we’re all going to head to TSM first and then after riding that, head to ToT and RRC. Since Mike and I are going to DHS by ourselves, I’m hoping to ride ToT 2 times. That way, when we go to DHS on Wednesday morning, we can concentrate our efforts on going on TSM and RRC.

Have I confused you yet because I think I’ve just about confused myself! :upsidedow I do know one thing, The resort is now and will remain the YC. We’re just too excited about staying there to change it.

Coming up: Day 4. Yeehaw!

Up Next: Main Street Bakery, Here I Come!! – Day 4 – May 23rd

Aww, now we won't be at Teppan Edo for dinner on Saturday night. Oh well, we still may run into each other in Epcot. I'll be the harassed looking woman, dragging three kids around, speed-walking like I"m in the Olympics walking event! :rotfl:

Hey! All three of us will be in Epcot on Saturday, and we all have dinner ressies. I believe all three of us plan to watch Illuminations that night as well.

HMMMMMMM.....

I know Michelle. I was thinking that when Mike was talking about switching. Teppan Edo was one that he was really interested in going to so when he said he wasn't so thrilled about the rice I thought it might be better to go somewhere else that he would enjoy. I really wish we could get into Le Cellier! I can't believe that it is completely booked up! When we went there on our honeymoon it was popular but not as popular as it has gotten. We technically still have the Teppan Edo ressie though. So you never know, we may change our mind again!

I'll be the harassed looking woman with two children and instead of being an Olympic speed walker, I'll be drooling over all the baked goods in all the different countries. :lmao:

HMMMMMMM.....

Megan, I'll double the Hmmmmmmm....If the three of us are going to be at Epcot that night, perhaps we could meet up somewhere. I'm so excited for the kids and Mom to see Illuminations!

Don't forget about me.. We're heading to EPCOT after our Luau for Illuminations. Maybe we'll bump into you! :goodvibes

Oh Leanne! I didn't realize that you were going to be there too! Sorry! Wow! There will be quite a few of us there that night. We could be one big crazy group and have everyone looking at us like  :lmao:

I knew the ADR switcharoo was coming. I switched 5 of mine last night :):scared1:
All of ya'll going to be at Epcot-hmmm I was planning on MK but Epcot is VERY close and we will be going to EMH at MK on Sun.....I am up for a MEET and some CRAZINESS!!!

Leanne, I forgot you would be there! I remember reading that now!

I hope you can watch some Illuminations with us!

Does anyone have a favorite place to watch in Epcot? We like France. There's a place next to the bridge along the water where there's room for kids to run around.

I can do France Megan! I don't have a particular spot. I haven't made it over to see it our last two trips so I'm just super excited to get to see it again. Meeting my DIS friends would be a great bonus! :cheer2:
