I Could Have Had a Cruise. Instead, I'm Going to WDW! May 2010 PTR - ONE MORE DAY!!!

Cute new stuff. I agree with you on the size 5T vs 4. 4's are very hard to find. I got some bike shorts at CP last weekend. Cute new shirts for you. LOL at planning your next trip-me too and I even have a ticker :)

What a cute Splash Mountain dinner. I could go for some sauteed mushrooms and onions right now!

Very cute clothing finds. I remember when Hunter was in between sizes. Everything was either too little or too big.

Lacey is headed your way in about a week. She and Jesse are out for Spring Break. They should be at our house in about an hour or so and will spend a week. Then, they are headed to Jesse's house for a week.

Splash Mountain night looks like a lot of fun! You do such a great job on your Disney Nights. :goodvibes Sauteed mushrooms and onions...YUUUUUMMMMMM!

I really like the shirts you bought too. I like the neckine of the pink and the shape of the dark blue! :thumbsup2

I'm working on my next trip already too! :lmao:

Cute SM night!

I used to love Children's Place when the girls were younger. I could always find a bargain there.

Great shopping---I really like the blue top, with the tie at the neck. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry everyone! I know I haven't been posting a lot on here and I am really having a hard time keeping up with everyone else's PTRs. I thought after the musical was over I'd have more time...:lmao: With all of Alex's end of school activities and trying to get us ready for Disney (I am about over shopping. I never thought I'd say that but I have shopped every day this week and when it's with a 3 year old, it gets old fast) I have been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off! Plus, as you'll see in my next post (well really it will be 3 since it's so long), I've been busy with a project for the kids and playing with a new toy (not mine, Alex's). I promise I'll post our next planned day either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I see your new ticker! How exciting Mary! I don't remember having this many problems finding Alex clothes in this size but it's been a nightmare trying to find Lauren some clothes. I saw those bike shorts but Lauren is VERY picky about her clothes. She would wear nothing but dresses if I let her. She's such a princess.

Thanks Lisa! I waited till everyone was finished with the mushrooms and onions and then I ate the remainder out of the bowls. So yummy!!!

I'm just really glad I finally found some clothes for her. :sad2:

Tell Lacey if she has bad allergies to pack her some medicine. The pollen is ridiculous right now. I actually gagged on pollen while I was picking up Alex from school today.

Aww, thanks Leanne! I can't believe we only have 2 more Disney nights till we leave!! :woohoo:

I'd been eyeing both of those shirts for awhile so I finally broke down and bought them.

I'm not sure, but I may be working on two trips...have to see what my honey says about one of them. Not getting my hopes up but he hasn't said no...yet. ;)

You think Lauren's sunglasses come in an adult size?? Hmmm....

They're adorable!

I know!!!! I wish my head was smaller so I could have bought one for myself. :rolleyes1

I noticed yesterday that when she wears them, they remind me of sunglasses that Elton John would have worn...:lmao:

Thanks Michelle!

I didn't really shop there when the kids were younger. I recently just ventured into the store and I like what they have.

I'm wearing that shirt today. :)

One day I was looking around on the Disney for Families board and I came across a sticky thread titled: “Kid’s Trip Pages to print out =0)” I had never thought about printing out activities for the kids to do while on the road. So my curiosity got the better of me and I started reading the thread. I skimmed through 18 pages (how long the thread is right now) and came across this post: #262. I clicked on the links, downloaded the books and started singing the “Hallelujah Chorus” (Alto part of course since that’s what I am). Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, rescuetink!!! :worship: I tweaked some of the pages for my children and also omitted some since Lauren is only 3 and really can’t do word puzzles. It took me pretty much 2 days this week to design pages and then print both folders, but here’s the final result:

The red one is Alex’s, the pink is Lauren’s:
IMG_3787w.jpg

Lauren’s title page:
IMG_3791w.jpg

Alex’s title page:
IMG_3797w.jpg

The first 4 pages are the same for each one. The first two are a Mickey car coloring page (since we’re driving) and the first of two sticker pages:
IMG_3792w.jpg

The third and fourth pages are the other sticker page and a counting page where the kids can keep track of how many cars, trucks, motorcycles, and semis they see (My cousin and I did this on a trip from Greensburg, IN to Elk Grove Village, IL. It was fun for us so maybe the kids will get a kick out of it for a little while):
IMG_3793w.jpg

Lauren’s book has more princessy and Tinker Belly (I made up some words!!) things:
IMG_3794w.jpg

Alex’s has more boyey items. Like Toy Storyey and Lion Kingy things (I can’t stop myself now!):
IMG_3798w.jpg

IMG_3800w.jpg

They both have a ton of pages in them. I think Lauren’s has about 40 something (front and back). Alex’s has at least twice as much (I used a lot of ink on these). Here’s how thick Lauren’s is:
IMG_3796w.jpg

So that’s what I’ve been doing for a couple of days this week.

We also ordered Alex a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really cool book. I can’t take credit for finding this one. Mike found this. He actually called me from his work really excited that he found it. And now that I’ve seen it, I don’t care that it’s made for kids, I want one. It’s the most awesome thing I’ve seen (at least during this week). It’s a book called “Guide to the Magic: For Kids” and it ROCKS!!!! We got this for Alex since Lauren is a little too young to do much with this book. But when she gets a couple years older, we’ll get her one. I’ll take you on a tour of the book.

First the cover:

Then the child writes down info about themselves and the trip:

Tips to enjoy the magic:

Oooo! I love to collect Disney items!
IMG_3836w.jpg

Can you find all of the monorail colors AND ride them? (Good thing we’re staying at a monorail resort!)
IMG_3837w.jpg

It also has phrases that you can listen for:
IMG_3838w.jpg

I can’t wait to see Alex try to find metal palm trees:
IMG_3839w.jpg

Oh boy! A character scavenger hunt!
IMG_3840w.jpg

Continued on next post…

All of that is even before you get to any of the parks or rides!!!! So now I’ll go to Magic Kingdom section of the book.

The first pages of Magic Kingdom section:

List of different sections and rides in MK:

Why don’t we venture into Adventureland:
IMG_3807w.jpg

IMG_3809w.jpg

Interesting:
IMG_3808w.jpg

We must go to POTC:
IMG_3810w.jpg

So the book tells you that Pirates is a dark boat ride, it’s mildly scary (yellow circle means medium, green would mean not scary, red means it’s terrifying!!!), and the child gets to rate the ride and then put the ride sticker (found in the back of the book) on the page once they’ve ridden.
IMG_3811w.jpg

There’s also some really neat pictures:

I’m going to be looking for these guys:

Here’s the stickers in the back of the book:

There’s the POTC one:
IMG_3834w.jpg

Oh why not! How about ToT!!!
IMG_3816w.jpg

IMG_3818w.jpg

Ummm….I really didn’t need to know this. :scared1: I’m glad Alex can’t read very well yet. I’d never get him on it if he knew this:
IMG_3819w.jpg

IMG_3821w.jpg

Thirteen…You know what I think of when I think of the number thirteen and ToT? In 2007, I was ridding ToT for my fifth of sixth time that trip, thinking how cool I was that I got to ride it that many times, and then I ran into a mother/daughter team who were riding it for the thirteenth time…not that trip, but THAT DAY!!!! I love me some ToT, but that’s just insane!!!

Continued on next post...

After all the parks and rides, the book has a day-by-day journal. Here’s day one:

IMG_3823w.jpg

You get to report on the weather. Notice how there is no cold option for the temp. I don’t know if you’ve been in the winter months, but Mike and I did during our honeymoon and the high one day was in the thirties. We thought it was interesting how the book didn’t include a cold option.
IMG_3824w.jpg

They get to check where they went that particular day and what modes of transportation they used:
IMG_3825w.jpg

Tip for the day and souvenirs bought (I hope this doesn’t mean Alex is going to expect to get something everyday…):

Attractions visited and food eaten:

IMG_3828w.jpg

Favorite thing for that particular day, hidden Mickey’s found, and other things done that day:

After about 14 days worth of pages, there is a section to put stickers and autographs:

That’s pretty much a guide for the whole book. I have to admit, I have book envy y’all! I think they need to make the same book and just change the title to: “Guide to the Magic: For Adults.” I’d buy it. :thumbsup2

Here's the kicker about both the folders and the book, they don't know what they are. They know I printed something off for them to do during the trip in the van, but they don't know what it exactly is. And Alex has absolutely no idea about the "Guide to the Magic" book. He's going to flip out over it! We're going to give them both the folders and the book after we're in the van heading towards Gainesville.

Up Next: Day 7

Wow Alicia, those are soooooooo neat :thumbsup2. I wish I had been on the Dis when Dallas was small. He doesn't like that kind of stuff now, but he would have loved them when he was 5 or 6. He plays his DS now, but he gets bored with it about 2 hours into our 8 hour trip :sad2:.

Day 7 will start with us waking up to go to normal entry for DHS. Originally this was supposed to be our second time to DHS. But since we’ve tweaked the schedule a little, this will be Mom’s, Alex’s and Lauren’s first time in the park (Mike and I will have gone on our “anniversary night”). Since I’ve already posted what our plan of attack is for DHS on a previous post: "I SEE TOWER OF TOWER!" - Day 3 , I won’t bore you with posting it again. You can follow the link and refresh your memory if you want.

For lunch this day we originally decided to eat at ABC Commissary, again. For like the third trip in a row. I think Mike is getting a little tired of eating here so don’t be surprised if you read the TR we changed our minds. But if we do eat here, I’ll have my usual curry chicken. Last year it was named the “McSteamy Curry Chicken.” I don’t care what it’s called. I love it and will eat all of it!

After we have our fill of DHS, we’ll follow our usual routine and head back to the resort for a little rest and relaxation. We won’t have to go far for our dinner since we’ll be eating at ‘Ohana. We have a 5:00 ADR so we’ll get to spend lots of time at the resort. I’m thinking that Mom and I might go to DTD to do some shopping. We’ll have to see.

After we’ve stuffed our faces, we’ll hop on the monorail and go to the MK. The kids will probably ask to do Buzz, POTC, Aladdin’s Carpets, HM, Barnstormer, and TTA. I’m so glad the TTA is operational again! We really missed riding it last May.

The next day will be our last full day at WDW. But I don’t want to think about that right now.

Up Next: Disney Night #11 - Jasmine Night

I'm so glad that there are people on here that are willing to share what they've learned about Disney and what their families do for their trips. I've gotten so many new ideas for this trip!

Alex doesn't have a DS, yet (although I do :rolleyes1). He does have a Leapster that he plays with so that should keep him occupied along with the DVD player, and the books...these kids don't know how good they have it! I remember sitting in the car listening to my Walkman while reading a book. And I'll still here a million times "Are we there yet?" :sad2:

First: those folder/books are awesome -- the kids will have a great time doing that! I'd love to be creative with Jordan and her friend and do something like that for them...but it would be "uncool".

Second: that Disney book is the BOMB! (sorry...probably not a good word) But really -- you will get just as much enjoyment out of helping your DS with filling out that book than if you had one to fill out, yourself...probably. :upsidedow I say that because I always enjoyed helping my DD fill out stuff like that when she was little...the memories you'll create with him by doing that will be the best.

Third: You have a DS??? Wow, your coolness factor just went 'way up to me - :lmao: I bought myself a Gameboy Advanced back before the days of the DS, before my DD was old enough for one...but she got one shortly thereafter, and now she has the DS in the family.

I've got to come up with something for these teens to get their excitement factor up while we're flying in...what's cool enough for teens?

Oh wow!!! Love the activity books you made for your kiddos!!! They will have so much to do!! And the "Guide to the Magic for Kids"-- where did you get that?! Ally would LOVE something like that! The book looks incredible!! Thanks for sharing, Alicia!! :goodvibes

I don't know what I'm going to do when they become "cool" teenagers. It makes me sad to think about it.

The book is the BOMB!!! I have to admit, since Alex doesn't know about it, I've thought of keeping it for myself. Then my conscience gets the best of me. I'm kidding y'all. I'd never take it away from him but I would really really like to have one. :thumbsup2

I do have a DS. I bought it last year with my birthday money. I like playing video games. It's one thing that both Mike and I like to do. I've enjoyed having it. It's great for times like you're sitting in a doctor's waiting room or in an airport.

I have no clue what teenagers would find cool. The 3rd and 4th graders in my choir sometimes look at me like I'm crazy.
