I could go running and racing...but I am not fast. An NYE, runDisney, no-kid-in-tow trip to WDW!

Hello, DIS friends new and friends already (not OLD!!!),
with my December-January trip only 101 days away, I though perhaps it was time to get started here!!

I actually started planning this trip on a whim! I have always wanted to do a runDisney event...in fact, it's the only reason I started running ever in the first place! The hope that someday I would eventually make it to run through my favorite parks is usually enough to keep me moving....usually!! I don't get there fast, but I get there eventually, which is good enough!

We had just returned from a most amazingly magical 12 days in Disney World last December, and I started talking with some friends about the possibility of a January trip. This coincided with the opening of registration for runDisney marathon weekend, so I had a very quick period during which to decide if I would indeed register and try to plan another trip. It didn't take long to convince myself I had to go

But, we'll get to that.....ANYWAY. Who's in for this trip?

Rob, my DH, who will deny his love of Disney to anyone who asks (except me!) but ends up being very magical and having an awesome time on every trip we've taken.

And that's it....yep, you read that right!! A trip for 2, and I CAN. NOT. WAIT!

Missing from this trip will be the little man I love the most.

I'm totally biased, but this kid is the greatest!! We'll miss him lots, but Rob and I are SUPER excited for this adult trip--it has been WAY different than planning for our last trip, that's for sure!

So, anyway, way back in February I made the decision that THIS would be the year I sign up to runDisney!
I didn't really know what I was doing or how this works, but thankfully I had an active.com log in already, so when the cues opened up to register, I was met with this!

I actually got my phone online, too, and had dual little walking guys to watch--I was really nervous I wouldn't be able to get into both the 5 and 10K, but hoped by having two devices ready I would have a better chance

In no time at all, I had successfully signed myself up for both races!! They're expensive, but I didn't even care (or notice) about the prices, honestly! I added on the magnet for my car and the exclusive ornament and pins--I couldn't stop myself! I was SO thrilled knowing that I made it in!! That confirmation email made me smile through the happiest tears!

Today is 100 days til my trip....AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

And the Disney Parks Blog announced the bling for all the marathon weekend races, too. WOOHOO.

I'm here. So far behind on the DIS right now but I figured I better bookmark my spot here! One of these days I'm going to start a PTR for my January trip but who knows when that will be.

I can't wait to run the 5K myself and that medal is awesome! Plus we will get our DIS meet redo in so we can get some pictures this time. I know for sure you will have at least one person beat in the 5K, me! My fastest 5K so far has been 41 minutes and that's with really pushing myself. I plan on many character stops so I expect the Disney one to take well over an hour or more!

I hear you on the ADR stalking. Would they just release the ROL packages for January already?!?! I would really like to have that in place before my FP+ day.

I just did the Boston Marathon this past April for the second time, and I have to say after that I have zero desire to do Dopey lol. Power to you if you make it there! It is just more work than I ever want to do.

Yes we are planning a Hawaii cruise in 2019 for our honeymoon so a stop in Cali is a must, and if I can do the Half, which I think is now star wars, even better!

Best of luck with your training. A 10K is a great way to start. I am also super slow too, like a 12 minute mile for distance, I can do 10/mm for a 5K if the weather is perfect lol.

The only way I will ever run an entire marathon is if I know I can stop and see characters on my way

I do between 10 and 11 miles when I run a 5K, too! But you're so right--the weather has to really be on my side!! Although, come to think of it....we did a 5K where it suddenly started to pour as I ran the last mile. It got so bad they actually black flagged the course right after we finished....I did a 9 1/2 minute mile for that last one, so apparently if it's a monsoon, I can be rather speedy!!

So, I was all excited to give you the scoop on the ADRs we've reserved and a couple of other things we've added to our trip.......until I realized just now that I left my planner at home . My kids will be back from their Gym break before I know it, so I will have to report back tomorrow!

But, since I'm here I thought I'd at least give you a couple of pictures of what we've been up to!!

Last weekend (when it was in the upper 90's!!!!) we took Jimmy family camping with his Cub Scout pack for the first time. It. Was. HOTTT!! But that didn't stop him from snoozing all wrapped up in his sleeping bag surrounded by his favorite guys!

Sunday, we did the Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer's in memory of my Grandma who passed away in April 2016. Our little team raised almost $5,000!!!! I reached my goal of $1,000, so I got a Grand Champions medal, and a beautiful sunset that night, which I like to think was courtesy of Grandma Dottie

And finally, over Labor Day I had ordered a tank top from an etsy shop that I didn't realize was in Thailand. When I got the shipping notification it said it could take up to a few months to arrive....oops!! I was so pleasantly surprised when it arrived already!!! AND fit perfectly!! The ears and fanny pack (or hip belt, whatever it was labeled to make it sound cooler!!) were additions I picked up at the Disney Store the other day when I stumbled upon a gift card in the bottom of my purse. Yay for Pixie Dust!!

I look forward to following along! I felt the same way in the beginning of running. I just started running races to prepare for someday running my dream race in Disney. It took off from there and my love for running turned into a love for trail running, and yet I still haven't run a Disney race! It was hard to justify financially and with 2 sons, but it's finally happening (without them) in 2018! They are going with their father, so I am taking advantage for a guilt free solo trip.

Thanks It sort of came together accidentally, but I am totally in love, too!!! In fact, you'll see this weekend I was able to add the most perfectly perfect pair of flip flops to the mix!

It was hard to justify financially and with 2 sons, but it's finally happening (without them) in 2018! They are going with their father, so I am taking advantage for a guilt free solo trip.

I was having a bit of guilt about leaving Jimmy at home for this trip, too....BUT he was just there for 12 glorious days last December/January (shameless plug for my first TR!) and I'm REALLY looking forward to this adults only trip to try out some new things we wouldn't be able to do if he was along for the ride.

I actually don't love running that much....or at all...LOL. This is seriously the only light at the end of the tunnel for me to run ever!!

Yay!! HI Our trips were close to overlapping, but not as close as yours and Ariana's!!! Bummed we won't be able to meet up, but SUPER excited for you to get to go on that trip!!!!

I am happy to announce that my 10K costume has arrived (well, what I think will be my 10K costume)!

I say "I think" because I have to take this dress on a trial run to see how it feels. My backup plan is a purple running skirt and a really cute running material tank top that has been bedazzled in all sorts of ways to add buttons and flair that look like Buzz's space suit (found that on etsy....not buying unless this dress doesn't work out!) I also have compression sleeves for my arms and calves, which will do double duty for my 5K costume, too, ... again, "I think!" LOL I didn't take a picture yet, but I have some awesome props to go along with this costume. Those giant gloves, of which I'm only wearing one in the pic because I couldn't hold my phone wearing 2, I won't really run with, but I think they're amazing for taking pics!!! I also have some pretty incredible, yet also ridiculous, sunglasses with Buzz's eyebrows and helmet on them....just wait til you get a load of those! So, I'm pretty happy with how that is coming together.

Now, on to real life!! Every year over Columbus Day weekend, my Mom and I take a trip (an excellent adventure, if you will!) to the Wisconsin Dells. It's something we used to always do with my Grandma when I was little, so I love that we are carrying on the tradition with my son. One of the things we do is a ride on the Pumpkin Train. They have a sign, "Welcome Little Pumpkins," which we always take a picture of him by. I thought it would be funny to stage a retake of the first trip we took in 2009 I can't believe how "leggy" he looks in this picture!!! My baby is growing up WAY too quickly for my liking!

Another bonus of this trip is the Disney Outlet!!!!! I was VERY excited to see what they had in store and surprisingly only bought these flip flops ($6) and the Pluto had I'd promised to buy Jimmy on my trip (because it was 30% off in the store and I knew it would be full price at WDW!)

Because I'm obsessed with what people's tattoos say when I can't tell in a picture--let me just tell anyone who might be curious that my tattoo is in my Grandma's handwriting, and it's from a note she wrote me when I was away at college. It says "My Darling, Love always."

Another highlight at the Outlet mall is the Hot Topic outlet, which had a clearance rack of buy 1, get 1 for $1 shirts. So, I came away with these two, plus I had a 10% off coupon, so my grand total for 2 shirts was only $14!!!

79 days to go til our trip!!! I almost started my online resort check-in today, but realized my break was almost over and chickened out!! Maybe tomorrow 19 days til FP day, and it's killing me that I haven't been able to book our ROL dining package, Fantasmic VIP seating and dessert, or Highway in the Sky event that I've been stalking seriously multiple times a day since our 180 day mark...I wish I was kidding, but I've really been a bit of a lunatic about it actually. Sigh.

Tell me about it! I'm so glad the ROL wait is over but I'm still looking for several ADRs for my February trip. We decided to do that one well after the 180 day mark so I'm still looking. Better go check them for the 100th time today, be right back....
