I can't understand how the Disney Photopass works...

I am trying to figure out exactly what the photopass is. Not sure if it's an SD type card that you put in your own camera and a park photographer takes the shots for you or you give to a photogragher to use on their camera then return it to you or what. Went to the Disney site and it didn't help me understand it either. Anyone knows how this works? Thanks.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your camera to start with.

Disney hs photographers stationed throughout all of the parks. Their most common sites are shown on the park Guides that are free at the entrance to every park. They will take a photo of you and your party, usually in front of a park landmark. Some, but not all photographers can take what is called"magic shots" which involve adding a digital special effect to the photo in "post-production".

The first time you get your photo taken, ask the photographer for a PhotoPass Card. It is just a paper card that has a bar code on the back. The photographer scans this bar code to tie it to the photo. You give the photographer this card every time you have your photo taken. DON`T LOSE THE CARD!!!!

The photo pass is amazing. It's a great way to share your pics with family when you get home. The card you receive when they take you first photo will be scanned every times they snap another. Then you go home and log in and you can see all the pictures they took online and order what you want. But don't lose the card cause the odds of you ever seeing your pictures again would be slim!

I email myself my number on my photo card that way I have the number if I ever loose the card. You can always have multiple cards, but you need the number to get the photos once you get home.

It is an awesome service...a couple of the photographers took some special shots for our son...One he ended up holding Tinkerbelle, one a baby lion...there was one where we were sitting with Mickey...They took great shots of us in front of the castle, epcot ball, big hat, big tree....PLUS...I was able to add borders to some of the shots...

NOW...I am waiting for the CD to arrive...said it was shipped on the 12th...anyone know how they ship them? Is it by mail? How long does it take? My pics expire in a little over a week...I want that CD to make sure it works before the pics are gone.

We always use it. You can have several photopass cards so if you leave yours at the room one day, you can ask for another when you're in the parks. You can also each have a card, especially if you're splitting up at times.

We took a picture of the number on all of our photopass cards. There were 6 of us in the group. We also wrote the number down back in our room. That way if we did lose the card after the photographer had scanned it, you still have the number to enter it in when you claim your pics online.

The card itself is like a little cardboard/paper credit card but the water parks have smaller ones that have a hole in it with an elastic for your wrist that I liked much better. This way you don't have to take it off and risk losing it as easily.

When we were in HS we were in a photo place on the main entryway to claim pics of 2 of my kids from a Phineas and Ferb thing and the guy there offered to put all our pics together on one card so we didn't have as many. I don't know how many, if any, other places there are in the World that can do this but it was handy as we had ended up with about 10 cards by then.

I would suggest pre-purchasing the photo pass and getting the discount. Although I've never had to do it but I've been told that if you don't have any pics worthwhile, when you get home after viewing them you can cancel it and get your money back as long as you haven't claimed your pics. I'm sure someone else can explain it better since as I said, I haven't done it. I've only been to Disney once.
