Mindy is 7 years old and she is my DH's dog. When he is on the road she misses him. He worked in the yard the past month so he was home at sometime everyday. Well My DH left yesterday afternoon and he won't be home till tomorrow. Since DH left I can not get Mindy to go outside to go potty for anything. I have tried treats, bones, even leftovers. She has never done this before. Any ideas to get my dog outside.

Wow that is an odd one. My dog will run outside for treats and bones. I hate to say it but maybe it's time to force her out? Put the leash on her and drag her out the door?

I know it sounds cruel but she has to go outside and sometimes you have to force the issue.

Have you tried to put her on a leash and physically bring her outside?

Can you pick her up and bring her outside? She's gotta go!

I agree with all these. It may be time to force her out, or put her on a leash and walk her outside. Hope she starts to obey you! :)

Thanks,I will try her lease. I can't carry her out is is about 60 pounds and the chiropractor isn't open to fix me later. ;)

During all the firework popping, I've had to drag Chloe out by a leash.

I swear, The Dog Whisperer has it going on. He's so right, that you can put the leash high up on the back of the head, and it forces their paws forward. If the leash is too low, they sit and put on the brakes.

It helps to have a simple leash that threads into itself (if that makes any sense). Place it around the neck and then move the leash up so that it sits behind the ears and is high enough to sit in between the ears.

You might have to tug a few times, but it does work.

Is it possible that DH put out some fertilizer or some other stuff in the yard & the dog knows it's toxic & is trying to stay away from it? :confused3

Have you asked her if she wants to take a ride in the car? My dogs LOVE taking rides. Maybe that will get her outside.
