My son is currently in Family Living this semester in school. He came home and happily offered me a chocolate chip muffin he made in class today. I bite into it and about gagged!:earseek: It is positively horrible!!!! I hope he doesn't want to watch me eat it!!! I think the teacher needs to pay more attention to what the kids are putting into these things! Something is definitely wrong with this thing!!!

LOL! That reminds me of when we made Baked Alaska when I was in high school. Only ours came out tasting great! :teeth: At least he made the attempt. Maybe he's on his way to being a chef!

LOL! Well, it was sweet of him to bring you one.
Has he tried one, himself? :D

Thanks for the chuckle!...brought back memories of my own kids...my DD made cookies and gave them to the neighbors...when I came home and tried one I thought that I would just Die! (cause they tasted so horrible! )

(glad you survived the taste test!)

Holycow

He took one bite of the second one he brought home....and then said he was going to save it for his father!!!:p

Wish you had a webcam so we could watch his father eat it! :D

ROFLOL!!!!! Kirk's the man!!!!!!!! LOL. He got you good mom!!!!!!!!!!!! lolololololololol

I remember my sister made me a Holly Bobby baby-doll shirt. The part towards the bottom of the shirt was completely UPSIDE DOWN....she made an "A"

Have you recovered yet Colleen?;)

It was nice of him to bring you one back to try though and it is the thought that counts!!! :)

Our home ec teacher had to taste everyone's food and she graded us on taste, appearence, and cleanliness (we had to make sure everything was spotless when we were done). We worked in groups of 4 in our class. We once made Chocolate Silk pie...we forgot to melt the butter before we put it in the mixture and it ended up kind of lumpy. But it still tasted okay, and you better believe we made the teacher's slice look REAL GOOD and we ended up getting an A anyway :)

We tried the baked Alaska too. It was sooooooo good and it turned out so well in class when we had the teacher there giving us pointers. Then one day I decided to try it at home and the marange didn't insulate the ice cream as well as it should have and it just turned into a mushey mess.

LOL! You'd better flush it then rub your tummy like it was the best thing you've ever eaten in your life LOL:D
What grade is he in?

Kirk's in 7th grade. He said he was in charge of adding all the ingredients and someone else mixed it. I really can't tell WHY it was bad....I did eat some more of it later (he was paying attention to the fact that I hadn't yet eaten more of it! ) It only had some really BAD spots...kind of like everything of one ingredient was clumped up in one spot...tasted kind of like eating a teaspoon of baking powder!:earseek: His father DID eat the whole thing! If you don't hear from me tomorrow, we're in the hospital getting our stomaches pumped! ;)

Colleen

PS Should I mention that Kirk was the first one to comment on the way tonight's fish turned out! (and no, I didn't force anyone to eat it!!:p )

LOL! I'm a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and you should see some of the food I see. My favorite story that I tell my students is from my first year teaching. We made pumpkin muffins, which have a lot of ingredients to measure, and one group had the most beautiful muffins. They were fluffy and a beautiful golden brown. When it came time to grade them I tried one and about died! They tasted like nothing but baking soda! Now I knew why they were so fluffy. My eyes water just thinking about it. It cured me of tasting every groups project.

A few weeks ago I had a group with no bake cookies that looked like something an elephant was finished with. They added a cup of cocoa instead of the teaspoons they were supposed too. One thing about middle schoolers they haven't learned tact yet so they are pretty honest when their food tastes worse than it looks.

Don't give up on chocolate chip muffins, Colleen.

Some years ago there was a breakfast show at Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness. It was hosted by Melvin the Moose and Chip and Dale. One of the items served was "Chocolate Chip and Dale Muffins." As I recall, they were quite good. Your sone probably just needs the right recipe.
