Thanks to all for helping us pick our dining choices through this board. We just returned from a week of Savannah view at the AKL Here is the cast;

Myself 39, excessive planner, these boards have been a hobbie of mine for years, been to WDW onsite at least a dozen times and have never stayed OFF site.

DBF 36 (this does NOT make me a cougar) lol, has been to WDW before but never stayed on site. He def agrees now that staying on site is an easier way to go and we will do this for all future trips. He is also a tad of a picky eater, no veggies (except lettuce), no mustard or mayo and the list goes on and on LOL. We also had a rental car just for our arival day so we could go to the store so he could get Mt. Dew, it is his CRACK

Day 1

Since we had a rental car the first night to get DBF's much needed Mt Dew, we had dinner off site at the Bahama Breeze, it was delicious. I had the Coconut Shrimp Meal with Broc and Fries and DBF had the Chicken Alfredo dish with Asperegus (which he picked out) plus we each had a soda.

We had beakfast at Chef Mickey's. I have done this buffet before, and I am not sure I will go back to this, it was okay not great. The characters were adorable as always but the food was luke warm and fewer selections than I remember. DBF was happy choc milk was an option LOL. On a side note our server was excellent.

Dinner was at Whispering Canyon Cafe, we both had the skillet and ice tea. For dessert I chose the Kahlúa-flavored Chocolate Cake and DBF had the Deep Dish Bourban Pecan Pie. The cake was ok, the pie was to die for.

Day 3

We had an early lunch at Flame Tree BBQ at AK. It was good, but nothing out of this world. DBF had the rib platter minus the baked beads and cole slaw, and I had the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and cole slaw. We (and by we I mean I had one lol) ordered a side of the onion rings. Yes DBF will eat certain veggies if they are deep fried and slathered in only HEINZ ketchup. Does anyone remember when WDW only had hunts yikes he would have had a coniption fit. Anyway we both had sweet tea and key lime pie for dessert. Neither of us ate the pie, we though it was afwul.

We headed over to MGM late night and found ourselves hungry around 5ish, so we stopped on the ABC Commisionary for burgers and sodas, slop slop slop LOL. We also paid OoP for this instead of wasting a CS credit.

Around 10:30 pm we were starving at headed down that to Mara, I had the Shrimp Platter and DBF had the Double Cheeseburger. They were both really good and large quantities of food. We both opted for the Zebra Domes for dessert , they were yum yum yummy. FORGOT TO TAKE THE CAMERA FOR THIS ONE SORRY

Day 4

Breakfast at Kona Cafe, we also paid OoP for this one instead of using a TS credit. It was good, DBF though the Tonga toast was too sweet, I had tried it years ago and didnt care for it so I ordered the Big Kahuna which he ate most of. The pineapple macadamia nut pancakes are to die for.

Dinner was at Yachtsman Steakhouse. DBF is a 100% carnivore and loves meat, especially (gulp yuck gag, rare meat). We were seated in a small nook with only 4 tables. This was without a doubt the worst service we had the entire trip. I have been in fine dining establishments before and I know it is a more leisurely pace, but we were there for almost 2 1/2 hours. We didnt have appetizers as nothing appealed to us, so that was for entree and dessert. All of the tables beside us had small children and they were getting really restless duing this time. Especially Samuel and Grace. I know their names because there parents said them 5,000 times. Seems Samuel who at one point creamed "Where's my steak", has a problem shoving more food in his mouth before he chews, and grace has a problem keeping her dress down. Much like DBF Samuel was also estatic to find that they had chocolate milk LOL. DBF and I both opted for the 24 oz Porterhouse, The cut was a little thick for me, DBF ate all of his and at least half of mine. A note of caution, at least for us the preperation was not the same as other rests we have been to, his rare was more like med-rare and my well done was more like med-well. DBF enjoyed this meal and I thought it was ok, it my opinion it was not worth burning up 2 TS credits each, but DBF said he would like to return. For dessert I had the Signature Napolean Dessert and DBF had the Mango Cheesecake, we both liked mine and he did not care for his.

Day 5

Lunch at the 50's Prime Time Cafe, this was fun as always. DBF and I both had the Cousin Eric's Char-grilled Chicken Sandwich. We also split and order of Onion Rings, then opten for the Smores Dessert which I love, but after 2 bites it could kill ya LOL. But OOPS I forgot the camera for this one.. For dinner we were dying for Pizza and ordered from a place the bell hop recomended called flippers which was very very good. I love all things disney but their pizza.

Day 6

Lunch at Pecos Bills, we were hungry at about 11:15, bad time to go. It was a madhouse, but this is a good meal so we waited. DBF had the Double Bacon Cheeseburger and I had the Taco Salad. We both had sweet teas and I had the carrot cake while he opted for the strawberry yogurt.

For dinner we went to Mara and took it out by the pool and ate so I didnt take my camera out, we both had the shrimp platter and zebra domes. If you ate a shrimp eater, i highly recommend this, the shrimp are huge and it is quite a large portion.

Day 7

I am sad as this is go home day, we went over to Hollywood Studios for a bit then headed toWolfgang Puck Express to use up our last counter service lunch. This was yummy DBF had the Four Cheese Macaroni which came with a side salad that went to waster, and I had the Chinois (Shin-wah) Chicken Salad. We both had Sweet Tea and Creme Brulee.

Snacks , I was really bad about taking these photos but here is how we used our credits. We paid for sodas and waters OoP as it seems like a better value to use the snack credits for yummies.

Frozen Lemonades --very refreshing on a hot MK EMH night

Dole Pineapple Whips--mmm mmm good as always

Cappacino Float--ok not great but ok

Nachos and Chesse--BLUCK at typhoon lagoon

Frozen Raspberry Lemonade--This was after sitting and sweltering at Lights, Camera Action, it was good and refreshing

Deep Fried Snickers--I didnt taste this but DBF loved it

Jalepeno Stuffed Pretzel--DBF loved this

Creme Horn from Norway Bakery--just okay

Fruit Tart from Norway Bakery--just okay

Choc Covered Frozen Bananna--Good

We also ate at Yachtsman Steakhouse (will post a review later) and I was so surprised by the terrible service we received. I was expecting much better from such an upscale restaurant. I'm glad I wasn't the only one with this opinion!

Helllooo from Rostraver!!! Sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures & reviews! I'll be heading down myself in a few short weeks and hopefully will remember to take pictures of my meals.

I really enjoyed your review! You hit so many of my favorite Disney restaurants. I love Bahama Breeze (used to have one close by here in Ohio but it closed). Have to agree that the macadamia nut pancakes at Kona are awesome I love those! Did you enjoy AKL? Have been wanting to stay there! We always go to Boma and look around the hotel it is so gorgeous! BTW where is this deep friend snickers? Sounds like something I would like :)

Thanks to all for your feedback and hello to my neighbor in rostraver (we were just at the foster house tonight LOL)

AKL was beautiful. We had a wonderful time there and would stay there again for sure. The deep fried snickers are at "Cookes of Dublin" it is in the pleasure island/west side area near Raglan Road.
