I can't believe that he treated the store clerk this way

When I did reservations for a "certain resort" we had our share of grumpies too. It didn't matter if you offered them a Deluxe, They were too pricey. The moderates were Nice, but well you know.. and the value resorts were just too small. There was always a reason. And of course there was never a low enough rate, and never Just the right room. I could give you all the reasons. *chuckles* You just can't make some people happy.

Someone I know who works in a food business had a customer call today to place an order. They were no longer taking orders and when she told him so he said "Well, Merry (swear word) Christmas" and hung up the phone!!

Pea--I know wh at you mean. When I worked in fast food, we had plenty of our share of grumps close to closing time.

"Well, whaddya mean you're closing in 5 minutes and you don't have X item? YOU"RE STILL OPEN! You should still have X! I want X right now!"

"Whaddya mean your closed? There's still people in there! I want to be served!" (usually accompanied by lots of counter pounding, pointing and/or swearing)

"But...I just want X! Please! C'mon...". That one annoyed me more than anything else. Like we didn't have family and lives outside of our job.

TOV

My favorite in retail was at the toy store I worked at. We were high end and the prices reflected that, but so did the employee training. We also had areas we basically specialized in. For instance, if you wanted an item for an 8-10 year old boy, I would grab the manager, any preschool girl or boy item, they would grab me, etc. I cannot tell you how many times I would spend a good half an hour with someone giving them ideas and pointing out features and what made a good toy a good toy to have them say, "Y'know, your prices are really high. I think I could get this for less at Target." Gee, maybe that is because you won't be able to find an employee in their toy dept that has one single clue about what to get your 3 yo grandson!! It got to the point that I would just say,"Yes, you probably would but good luck finding someone to help you." Sooooo annoying. Do people not get that the money to pay those employees who actually know what they are doing has to come from somewhere?

I have worked in a lot of different retail fields, so I might be a little defensive, but I just don't understand treating someone badly at their job. I mean how would these rude people feel if I came to where they worked and yelled at them. People need to realize how difficult it is to make every customer happy. As a matter of fact it's almost impossible.

Does that fool even know how lucky he was to find someone willing to wait on him and help him find things in the first place? Heck I would cherish that kind of service this time of year. YOu are lucky to find a clerk to ask a quick question to most places, they are that busy.

Let me tell you, the crazy ones were shopping tonight! UGH!

No kidding!! All night long, what do you mean your out of the item I want???? HELLO, it is 2 days until Christmas!!

I am the luckiest gal ever, I do not have to work my retail job tomorrow :cheer2:

Someone told one of our customer service reps "I hope your tree catches on fire and burns your house down."

Nice holiday wish.....

I work at a bank, and we ran out of both 100's and 50's, as well as the christmas $$ envelopes. We were busier than we have been on a friday in a long time. Most people were nice, but people were shocked that a bank could run out of a denomination of $! We are only allowed to have a certain amount in the branch, and it's not like we print the money, so yes, the bank can run out of money. And hi, it's 2 days before christmas- we are out of christmas envelopes. Some lady complained a few weeks ago about how cheap our money envelopes are. If they're that bad, buy real Christmas cards! I'm sure her kids and grandkids would prefer real cards.
Sorry to rant. It just drives me nuts. Most of our customers are really nice and understanding.

I've worked in retail for almost 30 years, and this Christmas I experienced some of the rudest customers I've ever seen. This past Monday night there were 2 women in line at my register, and they were talking about my size and how skinny I was in front of me as if I wasn't even there :confused3 . I've been sworn at for leaving at the end of my scheduled shift, had a customer grab me before I even got inside the jewelry counter at the beginning of a shift, and another customer complain that the sales associates "shouldn't be allowed to take lunch and dinner breaks this time of year " :earseek: I'm just glad I've put in my hours for the week so I didn't have to work today!!
