I can't be the only one who wishes YC was DVC right?

I know it probably isn't feasible & that it is already included in the hotel collection, but I find myself always wishing it had DVC rooms. It is such a beautiful resort. I don't think it is the same as BC at all.

Well, you just never know. If occupation percentages drop far enough, it may be in Disney's interest to convert a portion of it to DVC. But if it still runs at a high occupancy rate, it doesn't seem to be in the cards. I'm not familiar with the property layout, but I don't know that there is room for a stand alone resort the size of BCV on YC property. My guess is that you are not alone in your desire...I think every resort at WDW has its fans. :)

My guess is that Disney has already considered the possibility and the problem it faces is having land on which it could build a separate DVC building to go along with any hotel room conversions. There is not enough undeveloped land nearby to do it and Disney would need to cannibalize already developed property, such as parking lots, to be able to do it.

I think you'd see a conversion of additional beach club rooms long before you'd see any new DVC at the Yacht Club.

I always look at the YC as the BC's stuffy uncle.....I get a rich guy, get off my lawn vibe in that place....while the BC seems more open and fun....just my feeling

Land is an issue for YC.

Also, while cannibalizing rooms seems to go along with additional units, on it's own it does not do much for increasing room capacity/attendance. (Then again, Poly DVC only added up to 8*20 = 160 people on property any given week). But DVC occupancy rates will probably always be higher than that of regular hotel rooms.

However, Disney has long been rumored to looking out ways to outsource the hotel portion of its business, and, to some degree, conversion of hotel rooms to DVC rooms is a form of middle ground on that front.

My guess is you would see something at Fort Wilderness First, or even the rumored one in the Caribbean Beach Area.

Isn't the YC a convention hotel? If so, it's unlikely to have an see any DVC conversions.

BWI, Contemporary and GF are also convention hotels with DVC units. (And they razed a lot of the Contemporary's rooms to build BLT)

My guess is even if occupancy were to drop at YC, in order to preserve future convention business, they'd expand DVC at BC and push the CRO from BC to YC to fill YC rooms.

After all, at either place, dues are going to continue to help pay for joint amenities.

In fact, there's a rumored expansion of BCV in the works and I think that more closely matches what DVC seems to be planning based on VWL2: going back to resorts every 25 yrs to sell points.

In about a decade, that'll give DVC a perpetual inventory plan.

I'd be happy if they refigured some of the YC rooms into DVC , like they did at AKV Jambo. BCV is so hard to get into at 7 months, it would be nice if they added another choice.

Bring it on. More choices the better.
