I can't add reservation to MDE because guest is not on friends list

Not sure where to put this one.

I made a reservation for 1 night, for a resort only stay for me and a guest.

I tried adding the reservation number to MDE, but it won't let me proceed because only my name was matched to the reservation. The other guests name shows, but is not matched, because they don't have MDE. It shows other guests I have linked to my account in the past, whom have MDE.

So I can't proceed, and won't be able to add and do mobile check in. It gives an option to add a friend, but they don't want or need a MDE account for a 1 night stay.

Is there no way to bypass this? I mean it's only 1 night, so I don't really NEED it on MDE but was curious. I could always check in the old fashioned way. I assume I will have no issues if I don't link it at all and just check in with my ID when I arrive and get a room card?

Also, what does the Match each Guest to someone in your Family & Friends list mean, as an option? Linking one name to another?

Just add the friend to your MDE and do NOT invite them to create their own MDE. You will just manage that guest going forward including tickets, LLs, and MBs/cards.

Yes @PolyRob covered the basic answer but to provide you more info keep reading this post for the details, and you will be able to complete Online Check-in (what you called Mobile check in) without any issues.

Yes it wants you to switch to your Family & Friends list Tab. From there you just enter the name of the other guest on your reservation. Instead of searching for an MDE profile for them, you will need their First / Last name and their age (you can make it up if you don't know it) and enter it manually. You should make sure their age is listed as 18 or over.
