I have been a member of connections for about two years. I cancelled today, and thought you might be interested in my experience. I recieved the mailer last week informing me of my upcoming renewal and it was for the $139 I have been hearing about here. I had never had problems with a connections order ever....until last month. I tried twice to order WDW passes online
and both times it looked as if the order had been completed fine, only to find out it didn't. I have ordered most things online before so I know how the final order screen looks. Then I tried to order gift cards online last week and again, screen shows order completed...yet order did not go through.
I called today to cancel, after going through Press 1 for this, 2 for that several times and having to listen to sales pitches for why I should keep my membership..... the phone finally started ringing.... and ringing.... for 6 minutes!!!!! Finally the phone was answered!
Then when I explained ( to a very polite young lady) why I was calling, again I was told why I should keep my new UPGRADED membership. I told her no thank you (politely) So she proceeded to ask me what resturants I liked to eat at!!! I said all of them! (true!) but that (politely) I still want to cancel. So then she proceded to tell me she was "authorized" to reduce the cost of my memership by the $100 worth of household rebate forms. (So if you don't mind still paying the full price up front, you can join for $39after rebates).
After the trouble I have had lately, I still didn't want to renew. So I insisted I still wasn't interested ( politely!)
She gave up and let me :D
She also gave me her name and Id number. ( I'm glad, so I didn't have to ask her for it;) )
Although I saved money with connections, I find I can get discounts with other programs..... and the hassle with connections lately has not been worth it .

Good luck!

MJ

Thanks for posting, MJ. I joined in April (so I guess I am up for renewal in Feb. or March:rolleyes: ). I have ordered 3 or 4 times, and never had a problem, but the order I placed a few weeks ago limited how many of the restaurant gift cards I could order. I had intended on giving these to my kids' teachers, and needed quite a few, so I was disappointed when I reached my limit by ordering 1 card for the Olive Garden! I probably will not renew my membership because of the cost versus the savings. When I decided to upgrade my 7-day hopper from Connections, I was credited less towards the AP than I actually paid for the hopper, but that may have been a mistake on the part of the not-too-knowledgeable CM.

You were probably credited the amount that Connections paid Disney for the hopper.

I did the same thing, and i called connections. I can order up to ten of each restaurant card, so the first time i ordered 10 of olive gardens, the next time 10 of red lobster, since there are four restaurants on the same card, used for all four, you can order up to 40 cards. Hope this helps. My membership expires march also, when i sign on to connections its sends me to a new site, havent got through it yet though.

The Connections gift cards for restaurants; what is the price for them?

Also do they have gift cards for the Rainforest Cafe? :teeth:

Cindala,

You purchase the gift cards at the face value of $10 each, but then Connections credits you back $2 each, so they end up being $8.00.

The restaurants offered are:
Bahama Breeze, Bennigans, Chuck E. Cheese's, Hard Rock Cafe,
Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Planet Hollywood,
Red Lobster, Steak & Ale, and Smokey Bones

Sorry no Rainforest Cafe:( .

lovelyk68,

Thanks for the info!:teeth:
