Hello Everyone!!
Well for the past few days , I have been reading about people on the board here having You've been saying that...and I've beein waiting...sigh.problems with their travel arrangments with DCL. I have felt bad for them, and now I feel like I have been inducted into the membership of problems with DCL. Let me tell you about a problem !!! Yesterday, I was reading on these threads about being able to add money to your shipboard account before your trip started. I was interested and so I called DCL today to find some information out. After DCL rep gave me the info I needed, I was asking her about when documents are ready and when they get sent. My family and I are doing the 7 day land/sea on July 29th, 2004 ---August 05, 2004 , and with my initial reservation , I requested (through my AAA TA) to do a red-eye flight on July 27th, to arrive in morning of the 28th , so we can do Universal Studios. The DCL rep told me there is nothing stating that in my reservation about a red-eye flight or that we are staying at the airport hyatt. So , of course I am a little upset.
So , I went down and saw my ta, and we both sat and called DCL.
Well, my day just got worse. Let me, say I booked these reservations back on Jan 22, 2004 and made final payment on March , 2004. and had called DCL a few times about my reservation and air flight (w/ my ta there).

After a few reps, we got a DCL SUPV on the phone, who stated that on a 2nd call my ta (nisha) changed my flight status , and then recanted and said , that the red eye was in there with the hyatt hotel request , but DCL removed it . Why did they move it?
They said it is against their policy and their computer software does not allow them to book a red eye flight if we are not staying that next day at a disney hotel resort!!! I told them are they out of their mind. why was this not told to me on the first day we were making the reservation. No answer for me except SORRY , SORRY ,SORRY!!! Not exceptable to me . So , I went a few rounds and sarcastically the supervisor told me I can always get a refund of my airfare and book my own. Then Nisha (my ta)
told me to hang on and we might check to see what the cost of booking on our own. we hung up the phone and checked. (this gets real good ) So we are checking and I tell her , I have payed over 6,000.00 dollars already and that DCL already has my money for airfare and i do not have any more. she told me she will get my refund money for the new airfare ----cheap airfare was found. I told her to call me when she can find out how soon my refund of airfare from dcl will arrive and I will decide what to do.
So, I get to work and my ta calls me and says Valentina , I have found 4 round trip tix for 1200.00 I need a credit card and I have canceled your disney portion of air . they will refund you the money and it will come sometime before your trip in July.
I was furious!!! I never told her to do that . She was supposed to call me in the morning!!! I told her there is no money for this
She said she has to wait in the morning for the accounting department to come in and see what can be done. I just do not know what to do , I am mad at both my TA AND DCL.

Please someone give me some advice
I feel like crying

Well, after reading your post, I'm wondering why not one person told you what they told me when I was planning my trip.

Well, not sure if read in your post somewhere that I think you purchased your flight separately. If not, and you booked through DCL

I would not know my flight arrangements until - the earliest - 30 days prior to my departure date.

The only think I could see is that they knew I would be staying at MCO Hyatt the night before.

Silly me, I called directly to confirm the room and they had no such name. Ummmm, fire off another email! ;)

Not to worry......

Booking through Dreams Unlimited, after I sent a concerned email, they told me - I'd have to wait until 30 days before my departure date. Basically - when I received my documents

Oh.... forgot to mention, I rebooked on board, transfered my reservations to here, DCL booked my air and it all worked out.

It drove me nuts not knowing our flight arrangements! Not even knowing if we were booked for the Hyatt MCO. But it all was "good in the hood" and DU took care of everything.

Jessh, in your case, I don't know who I would be more upset at...... the travel agent or DCL rep. It's not like we are making reservations at Sizzler here, this is stressful to some of us, this is a lot of money here.

This whole trip was booked with DCL , EVERYTHING!!!
I am a little more calmer right now, but I keep thinking
I do not at this moment having any airfare for my trip and DCL has all my money. Well tomorrow , first thing in the morning someone is hearing from me at the AAA office!!!
I will be compensated for other peoples mistakes and my fustration. I still have questions for DCL, and I would like to know who and where do we send unpleasant emails of DCL employees/agents mistakes!!!

vedwards, what a cruddy day you had , like you i don't know who i'd be madder at , probably the TA as it sounds like she has been making changes and amendments to your plans without your go ahead, fingers crossed it will all be sorted for you, no ta likes bad publicity and with the thousands of disers on these boards experiences like this put others off booking with them. Good luck and you can e mail dcl through the cruise website , i understand that if you say you want a call from an executive you wil get one and then you can discuss your dissapointment with them.

Had you paid the $50 per person air deviation fee? The only way you can request ANYTHING regarding air is to pay that non refundable fee.

How frustrating! My blood pressure would be sky high!! Hope it all works out for you. that is not the level of customer service you want to see through DCL or a TA you are working with. Good Luck.

my3kids...you beat me to that question!!!

Vedwards.....Did you purchase an air deviation or custom air? If you did and paid the fee for that service then there should not have been a problem and you have every right to be upset. Your TA should have informed you that any specific flights requested had to be custom air and a surcharge would have to be paid, if she did not than you have another reason to be upset.

DCL ( or any other cruiseline) will never guarantee you a specific flight or time or tell you what flight you have until 3 or so weeks before departure or when your docs come.

Sounds like the TA dropped the ball but was trying to help you by securing the later airfare.

Another reason to book air separately!!

Good luck....hope it works out for you.

MJ

Wow, I am sorry to hear your problems.
I booked our 4 land/3 sea directly myself through DCL, skipping a TA and never had any problems. I did book my airfare separately myself, knowing I could get a better deal by doing some searching, and that we were also flying in a day early like you are.
I hope everything works out for you and you have a wonderful trip like we did.

I can't beleive the AAA rep allowed you to beleive you could do what youwanted. I have booked several cruises, even the agent (criusesonly.com) would advise me to book air on my own, because they can't guarantee the times or flights, or non-stop of connections. If you do a day before or days after the cruises, through the cruise line, only then will they allow you to book air with them. Hope you can get some great flights, I see your in CA, if you have to change planes and can't get a direct, think about comig to NYC, there are some incredible sales going on right now!

VEDWARDS,
Sorry to hear about all of your probblems. Hopefully everything will work out. We are also on the July 29 land and sea vacation. I will be traveling with my dh, dm, ds-15, dd-12, and dd-5.

vedwards, I'm so sorry to hear of your problems. It is so aggravating to make reservations and only then to find out what you thought you booked isn't what you booked. Sending lots of pixie dust your way :D

Hello Everyone!!!
Thanks for the info and best wishes. Let me just say and clarify one thing that DCL said to me. Which I do not understand. I go know they can not guarentee time and flight before they know, but what I was told by a DCL SUPERVISOR was , "if I was coming in for an extra day in a Disney Resort Hotel, then they could do and request a red eye flight, but since I was staying in another hotel the day before , there computer system/software could not do a red - eye flight with the accomodations I wanted"
This I still do not understand. So if anyone else can explain to me why this is, so what I do not understand is why I was not told this on Jan 22, 2004 when I stated my wishes on the trip

Now to some good news update:

I went and saw my ta this morning . The manager of AAA travel department has arranged to have AAA pay for my new airfare ,and will get their part of the money when DCL refunds my airfare. I actually have saved about 1,000.00 dollars . Next time I will definately pay for my own fare . The management at AAA is going to be contacting their sales rep for DCL and explaining our inconvenience and communication problems.

So right now, I am relieved about my airfare being taken care of and aaa wanting to keep me happy, but I am still a little fustrated at dcl for not advising of unavailability when I first booked this vacation

I am glad that things are looking up.

It is my understanding that there are two options when traveling from the west coast RED EYE flight <<or>> DAY BEFORE flight. They offer these choices so you have full use of your days at Disney or if on a sea only, so you make the ship.

You cannot combine them and take a red eye flight on the day before. (which it sounds like that is what you wanted) That would be a deviation request like other stated here.

Basically they offer flights for the convenience of thier package dates...since you are wanting to do something extra on your own, then you really are on your own for that or pay for a deviation.

I understand that and that is fine, where I have the problem is that should have been explained on the first day , when I told t
the DCL REP what I wanted , instead of putting my request in the reservation, should have told me that can not be done w/ the package and that I would have to pay extra. NOTHING WAS EVER SAID UNTIL YESTERDAY!! I HAVE CALLED THEM WITH MY TA REP 3 OTHER TIMES SINCE BOOKING AND NOTHING WAS SAID!

This is the problem. I booked with a certain itinerary , got it confirmed , and payed in full a month later , we are talking over
7500.00 dollars! so 3-4 months have now passed im thinking
im getting what i payed for.

I just think I deserve an explanation of why I was not told when I first booked. That is all.
