I Can! I Can Stink at 9am! A January TR - 3/8 New TR Link!

That room!!!!! :lovestruc  :cloud9: You must have had a really, really hard time saying goodbye at the end of 7 days.:worried:

Subbing! That room, OMG. Can I just live there permanently? It's perfect.

Your son is adorable, he is SUCH a good traveler!

Happiness seems an understatement. That room is gorgeous. These are some of the first pics I've seen of the villas and all I can say is wow. Your're a lucky girl to get to spend a week there,

What a great place to live for the week! :thumbsup2 I've never been a big fan of the GF, but I could handle that room. ::yes:: :rotfl2: Glad to see that DS didn't waste any time putting on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, by the way! :goodvibes

Sorry he had trouble sleeping. And I know what that's like when you're in a hotel - every second seems like an eternity, as you don't want to wake neighbors, etc.

Looking forward to your first full day!

I am enjoying your TR so much! Your 1br at GFV is absolutely gorgeous. I'm just wondering, are you a DVC member, or did you pay/rent points for the room. Just wondering because my grandma is a member! :)

I missed the previous update(my cat got sick). Even though I've never had scallops before, those looked amazing. Also, bread pudding is one of the greatest things in the world so that looked delicious(don't look at trip reports while hungry).

The room looked fantastic, especially the giant shower.

Sorry, I need to sign up here again - in the DIS update I somehow lost all my email notifications and I need them back - especially for your thread! ;)

I swore I subbed to this but apparently not! ARRGH.

All caught up now though. I can't believe you made it all morning from the Hyatt, to DME and skipped COFFEE entirely. That's just wrong. I don't htink my family could have handled me for the rest of the day! Fun meet with Danielle and her mom and how nice that you could see relatives even if DM wasn't overjoyed about it. Very glad DS got over the elevator phobia but what a bummer for a rocky night, that is hard on everyone no matter how stunning the room you are in, is. And it is. Simply gorgeous!

Wow! Amazing room. It looks to me like they pulled in a lot of similar features that were incorporated into the villas at Aulani.

I'd be totally stoked about the TV in the mirror, because that's just plain cool.

Sorry the little guy woke up screaming. I feel your pain!

Thank you! The phone case came from Red Bubble, they have AWESOME cases. In fact, if I wanted to waste money, I would purchase all the cases they have to offer and switch them out daily. Check them out!

I'm shocked you're the first one to notice! Is it bad that I didn't even realized the shirt had a Dr. Who reference on there until the day after I purchased it! But i've always wanted to watch it. I've been told its great and that I would really enjoy it!

Sooo..I checked out Red Bubble and I love that website already. I already gave my BF a list of what I want, lol. :rotfl: I found some pretty cool phone cases that have Disney and Dr Who mixed together.
Yea, Dr Who is AMAZING!!!! They have all the seasons on Netflix except the latest one.
Wow... the Christmas decorations at GF is so beautiful!! And that villa... tv in the mirror?! That is so cool!!!!! :hyper:

Ok, I'm struggling with the formatting stuff on multi-quotes, so I'm sorry it looks like crap. I just gave up. :lmao:

We had just left DTD from a great dinner at Raglan Road, almost rammed the stroller into an old guy from DH's non-peripheral vision and boarded a bus almost immediately!
Yeah, don't be that guy that runs into people with a stroller... :rolleyes1

Why do little kids at the GF have nicer furniture than I do at home? For reals!?
I think that is part of the reason I just feel so out of place there. :rotfl:

Our bathroom with a TV in the mirror!
You know you're living the life when you have a TV in the bathroom mirror.
Seriously, I couldn’t believe we were living here for 7 nights! It was gorgeous and DM was completely in awe of the place.
Yeah, that is an awesome room. Not a bad place to spend a week at all. It is always nice to be in the same room long enough to just make yourself at home.
Towards the end of the night, DM asked what the plan was tomorrow and I told her. Minutes later DH asked what was happening tomorrow. Sigh. So I pulled out my plan and tried to find a home for it for them to look at everyday. AND THEN! I remembered that Danielle had given me a gift from our meet.

Hey, at least they asked!

Your spreadsheet looks fantastic, by the way. :thumbsup2:rolleyes1
As you could tell from the time on the microwave, we were up late and didn’t get to bed until after midnight. DS did not want to go into the Pack n Play that DH had set up next to our bed, so we let him fall asleep in our bed and move him when he was dead asleep. But this night, DS slept terrible. Every once in a while, he’ll have night terrors, where he’ll wake up screaming and crying with his eyes closed and we can’t get him to open his eyes. This happened around 3:30am and lasted for 20 minutes. It doesn’t sound long, but waking up from a deep sleep by a screaming child, trying to keep him quiet to not wake up the neighbors, it felt like hours. Not fun, but he settled down and I let him sleep in our bed the rest of the night.

Brutal... it always feels longer too, because you know how badly you need the sleep and it just drags on you. Yes, I know this feeling 100%. And then there's always the thing that you get done dealing with it and then just lay there unable to get back to sleep for a while. Yes, a 20 minute night time tantrum, always ends up being much, much longer for the parents.

Okay, WOAH DISBOARDS! Took me forever to figure out how to multi-quote!

Yay...an update (I'm wrapping up my TR so it's easier to keep up everywhere else).

That villa is stunning!!! I think it's the first time I've seen pictures of a one-bedroom there.

Nice to have a second resource for groceries (we usually used Garden Grocer, but this trip we be driving in from Marco so we will just stop).

on DH asking plans right after DM. The gift from Danielle sure came in handy.

I'm sorry to hear about DS's night terrors. Those must be frightening to wake up to when you've been sound asleep.

Isn't the villa absolutely beautiful? Really, pictures just don't do it justice as you can imagine. It's beyond amazing!

Of course, DH does this on a daily basis. Not listen:rotfl2:

I was going to use Garden Grocer at first, but then Alison recommended WeGoShop so went with that.

It's definitely scary when this happens to DS. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it's not fun and it's hard to get him to open his eyes and calm down.

Too cool about the bus pulling right up.

That room is GORGEOUS!!!!!! :love::love::love:

Poor DS, that sounds terrible :(

Isn't the room amazing!! :faint:

Well, if you have to slum it I guess that room is ok. I mean, only 1 television in the bathroom ;) :rotfl:

Those split bathrooms are one of the best New things they have started doing (i think they first did it on the cruise ships)

That is one downside to the stainless steel frig - magnets don't stick. Definitely should have asked for a refund ;)

:rotfl2:Until they put a tv in the shower, I refuse to stay there again :snooty:

I do wish the bathrooms were like the ones at Kidani where the 1 bedroom villa has 2 full bathrooms. But again, i'm being :snooty:

Your room at the VGF looks so big and very nice. It will be a long time since I will stay on-site at WDW since I mostly stay off-site. It is nice to see what the rooms are like.

I will have to look at wegoshop as a place to get groceries.

Great update.

If you ever decide to splurge on a resort onsite one day, definitely do it at the VGF! So gorgeous!

The villa looks great. I could easily live there.

My DM and I are always talking about what are plans and right after the conversation is over my DD ask what are plans are.

I hope your DS night terror get better. That can't be good for your DS and your family.

I could totally live there too! The location couldn't be beat and the room was so comfortable and big for all of us.

The night terrors are so not fun. They happen every once in a while at home and it's hard to get him to calm down.

Oh my gosh that room...

:faint:

GORGEOUS!!! I'm incredibly jealous.

My brother used to have night terrors when he was younger and I vividly remember how horrific they were. I hope the rest of the nights were easier for him.

Heather...you need to stay here. Convince DH that DD deserves all the best and she'll only accept the GF!

Yeah, they are soooo not fun. It's easier to handle now, but when he first did it, I was so scared and not sure what to do, so that first time we ended up driving around at 1am for 20 minutes and it calmed him down.

Your son is so adorable!!! Loving your trip report! We stayed at VGF last year and agree, it's so beautiful!!

Thank you! Yeah, it's going to be very difficult if we're unable to secure VGF in the future that's for sure!

Awesome room! I bet the 1BR is just fantastic. I know the studio was awesome!

Poor DS - not sleeping well - that is totally the worst! I'm glad he was eventually able to go back to sleep, but 20 minutes is an eternity when it's the middle of the night.

I loved that outside fountain. It was so pretty! Can't wait to stay there again, except I have no idea when it will be. Boo!

The 1 bedroom is where it's at! Seriously it was so amazing :worship:

The fountain was very pretty! Towards the end of our trip, there was some big family reunion of about 20 or more people taking professional pictures in front of it.

I missed your Reglan update. The scallops look yummy. So the fish and chips were just eh? Great trick you developed on the fly for your picky eater. What kid is NOT a picky eater? You certainly got a great view of the dancers. :thumbsup2

The F&C's I think are better over at the UK pavilion, definitely! But you can't beat the show, that's for sure!

Oh my!!! That room though!!! For heavens sake, I wouldn't even care about going to the parks... Lol!!

Ph man, keeping a child quiet in a hotel room does seem like hours, even if just a few minutes!

For reals! I wouldn't have cared if we had a no parks day and just ended up staying in the room, making a nice dinner and hanging out.

I always feel terrible for people that have a room right next to ours. Usually at hotels, I always ask for a corner room so that if he does end up crying, he'll only be bothering one room than 2 rooms.

So sorry to hear that Calvin didn't sleep well. :(

Your villa looks absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!! We stayed in a studio last February and we were in awe - I can only imagine how it must have been in a 1 BR.

Karin the 1 BR is absolutely amazing! There's no way would could downgrade now to a studio (unless of course, that was all that was available) but really, we'll use up the following years points if needed!

Your one bedroom had the exact same layout as ours with the exception of the bathroom. Isn't it just a beautiful Villa? You really feel like you are living in luxury!

I'm glad that We Go Shop worked out for you! You must have really made a lot of breakfasts in the Villa to get that much bacon and eggs. Good for you! It really does save on food costs, when you don't have to rush out to breakfast.

So cute that your little man made himself right at home.

That is so scary to have him wake up in the middle of the night like that especially since you are probably used to him sleeping through the night now. I hope that doesn't happen again for you on this trip!

So glad you liked the VGF, I thought it was a really wonderful place to stay as well! :goodvibes

We totally felt like royalty staying at the VGF anyway, and then staying in the 1BR was just the cherry on top!

We like bacon :lmao: Each adult eats 2 slices and DS has 1, so 7 slices made each time we made breakfast.

That room!!!!! :lovestruc  :cloud9: You must have had a really, really hard time saying goodbye at the end of 7 days.:worried:

It suuuuucked having to leave such a gorgeous place:worried:

Subbing! That room, OMG. Can I just live there permanently? It's perfect.

Your son is adorable, he is SUCH a good traveler!

:rotfl2:I know I want to live there too!

Happiness seems an understatement. That room is gorgeous. These are some of the first pics I've seen of the villas and all I can say is wow. Your're a lucky girl to get to spend a week there,

I was so lucky that our entire waitlist for the room had been granted! Otherwise, we would only have had 3 nights there...clearly, that's not enough!

Same here! I was never really a big fan of the GF (too floral) but as I took more trips I really started to love it. And that room. Done. I can stay there every trip, no problem!:rotfl2:

I am enjoying your TR so much! Your 1br at GFV is absolutely gorgeous. I'm just wondering, are you a DVC member, or did you pay/rent points for the room. Just wondering because my grandma is a member! :)

Thank you! Yes we are DVC members! We ended up using some of the next years points to help with this trip:lmao: but we always have to bank points anyways, so it was fine! You must convince your grandma to stay here!

I missed the previous update(my cat got sick). Even though I've never had scallops before, those looked amazing. Also, bread pudding is one of the greatest things in the world so that looked delicious(don't look at trip reports while hungry).

The room looked fantastic, especially the giant shower.

Aw, hope your cat is feeling better. I hate when my animals get sick, so know the feeling

Bread pudding is something I never liked up until a few years ago on one of our Disney trips. Now I can't get enough of the stuff!

Oh the shower was MASSIVE. So much room!

Sorry, I need to sign up here again - in the DIS update I somehow lost all my email notifications and I need them back - especially for your thread! ;)

I know, I somehow unsubscribed from mine too :lmao:

I swore I subbed to this but apparently not! ARRGH.

Hi Cynthia! Well, now with the new DIS, I unsubbed from mine :rotfl2: so no worries!

I knew you would understand my pain from no coffee. I'm pretty brutal without it, but being at WDW definitely helps.

I was so glad to have met Danielle and her mom and can't wait to see them again!

The room was beyond gorgeous. I was like this the whole time :earseek:

Also, sorry about your Seahawks. Even though they beat the Packers, I was kinda rooting for them.

Wow! Amazing room. It looks to me like they pulled in a lot of similar features that were incorporated into the villas at Aulani.

I'd be totally stoked about the TV in the mirror, because that's just plain cool.

Sorry the little guy woke up screaming. I feel your pain!

We're really hoping to get to Aulani next Summer for our 10 year anniversary :dancer:

The TV was way cool! I'd watch classic Disney cartoons while getting ready or check out Stacey and DH would put ESPN on. In heaven!

:hyper:

Oh yay! Glad you checked it out! Such a fun website right? I spent a lot of time on there before choosing my phone case. So just another reason I need to get Netflx. We had it many years ago (2008) and cancelled it because we were so busy. But I wouldn't mind having it now so I could also watch Downton Abbey, if it's on there.

Ok, I'm struggling with the formatting stuff on multi-quotes, so I'm sorry it looks like crap. I just gave up. :lmao:

I see no struggle at all, you did excellent! :worship:

I think that is part of the reason I just feel so out of place there. :rotfl:

:rotfl:I'm not used to seeing couches without food and drink stains on them!

You know you're living the life when you have a TV in the bathroom mirror.

Now if there was only a TV in the shower:cloud9:

Yeah, that is an awesome room. Not a bad place to spend a week at all. It is always nice to be in the same room long enough to just make yourself at home.

It would have been difficult to only stay 3 nights. I'm so glad our waitlist came through!

Your spreadsheet looks fantastic, by the way. :thumbsup2:rolleyes1

Do you like how my 'original' spreadsheet is trying to make an appearance under the new and improved one?:rotfl2:

Brutal... it always feels longer too, because you know how badly you need the sleep and it just drags on you. Yes, I know this feeling 100%. And then there's always the thing that you get done dealing with it and then just lay there unable to get back to sleep for a while. Yes, a 20 minute night time tantrum, always ends up being much, much longer for the parents.

One of the nights he had started crying again, but not the bad terror type of cries and I didn't budge. He was checking out if we were getting up and noticed we weren't moving so he sat back down and went to sleep :thumbsup2

They used to have the first season but it looks like they removed it. :sad1: I need to really get caught up myself because I have only watched that one season.

Oh my. That room. I can't even.

It is so beautiful and perfect! How wonderful that you guys got to stay there your whole trip!
And a TV in the bathroom mirror? What even? That is just too cool!

How scary for your poor DS having a night terror! And I can imagine that your probably felt helpless since you can't get him to wake up or settle down. Poor baby, I hope he slept better after that first night. Can't wait to read the next installment! Yay for Animal Kingdom!

P.S. I definitely got un-subbed with all the new DIS updates :headache: But I did update my avatar and signature which I hadn't done in forever so...silver linings? :rotfl:

Aw poop, thanks for checking for me! I've heard the best things about it and have only seen the first episode of the first season.

Oh my. That room. I can't even.

It is so beautiful and perfect! How wonderful that you guys got to stay there your whole trip!

Hey! Before even reading your reply, I was checking out your signature. Love it! Perfect gif:love:

Isn't the room amazing?!:cloud9: I still can't believe that I was able to stay there. I never imagined I could ever stay there and I could probably never afford it without the help of DVC. Well, I guess we could have afforded it but it would have taken us at least 5 years to get there:scared:

Hi Lesha,

I've not been on the boards for a while but wanted to see how your latest trip went.

Sounds like it got off to a great start, so many fun things already like meeting Danielle, dinner at RR and your gorgeous room!

Can't wait to read more :)

I'm sorry about your DH's grandfather, I hope the funeral went ok.

Calvin is looking adorable as usual!

Hi Cynthia! Well, now with the new DIS, I unsubbed from mine :rotfl2: so no worries!

I have done that before! I think the new boards are an improvement but it will take a bit of getting used to.

I knew you would understand my pain from no coffee. I'm pretty brutal without it, but being at WDW definitely helps.

Oh goodness, I would be evil. It would not be pretty. Both Jeff and I NEED that coffee. LOL! Honestly though, it could be decaf and it would work, it is as much the ritual as it is the cafffience.

Also, sorry about your Seahawks. Even though they beat the Packers, I was kinda rooting for them.

Awwww, thanks!

We threw it away. It was painful. Danielle and I are going to drink our sorrows away after the PHM.

I hope you get Aulani next summer too! As long as you aren't going for standard view or the hotel room category and can book right at 7m you should be fine but if you want me to check on dates as it gets closer, just let me know.

Ha, if I didn't know better, I'd assume the stroller ram-ee was my father since he does seem to be a magnet for it.

Seriously Right??!! The G-Flo furniture is INSANE!! I feel like I don't want to touch anything.

OH... MY... GAWD!!!!! That room is exquisite!!! Yeah, that beats a value room by a little bit. In fact I think the bed is bigger than a value room. :scratchin

Haha, I just cannot NOT unpack. Even for just a couple of days, I have to get the suitcase out of the way.

:rotfl: That cracked me up whhen DH asked about the plans immediately after DM. Husbands... (I assume ;))

Wow, can't believe I missed this! Calvin is getting so big! Your room at VGF is amazing! I would love to stay there someday!
