FINALLY!!!!!!

I have CareMark which is a part of CVS so now they are going to allow me to actually get my own maintenance meds if I choose to.

Anyone else get the same letter recently? It is called "Maintenance Choice". :lmao:

I wish Express Scripts would affiliate with a pharmacy and let us get our maintenance meds. I don't like mail order!

I agree. One time when I sent out a prescription, I sent it out a month before I was goign to be out of my meds. great. I thought it would get to me on time...haha...yeah right.
3 weeks after I sent it, i still hadnt gotten anything. so i called express scripts adn they said that they couldnt find the doctor who prescribed it in teh system. Okay...so I told them her name, that she was at Johns Hopkins, etc and they said, okay, tehy would mail it out. 3 days later, i got a call that they couldnt send it becaus ethey couldnt find the doctor in teh system:eek:really???? youve got to be kidding me???

So here I am, out of meds and I have to take my next dose in 2 days adn nothign had arrived. My doctor ended up calling in a one time (one day supply...its a weekly med) for me to get at CVS....so i go pick it up.......$75 later for 5 Pills I had my meds....and of course my prescription arrived from express scripts teh next day...go figure.

I hate Express Scripts with a passion.

Hey if CareMark is doing it perhaps ExpressScripts is looking at it as well. :thumbsup2

Let's be honest, they are not doing it to be nice to us.:lmao:I imagine it is costing them a fortune to send these meds out.

I also have Caremark and have been getting my prescriptions at CVS for about 6 months or so now. Its great. Plus, with automatic refills, they just leave me an automated message when my next pick up is ready. I pick them up in the CVS drive-thru on the way home. So easy!!! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if the other companies are "looking into it." Caremark is now owned by CVS, which is why we can fill our prescriptions there, rather than mail order.

Cool.

Normally I would not care, mail order can be good. However, not if you are in an apartment or you have a doctor that is slow as dirt, which one of the doctors we are.

I am so glad to have this option.

Oh. So we might be enjoying a temporary thing until CVS dumps CareMark?:lmao:

I got a letter last January stating that they were going to do this. So, first chance I got I took my 90 day supply perscription of Synthroid to CVS (who I HATE) and they looked at me like I had 3 heads and wouldn't do it. I guess I need to check on this again.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

Here in the letter it states that you have to register with Caremark and select a pharmacy for pickup or talk to the pharmacist or call the toll free number and they will handle it.

I'm going to go on the Caremark website shortly and look at this. The letter that I got last year didn't say any of that. It said that "soon" they were going to be implementing this policy and that I could basically go to any CVS pharmacy and fill my long-term meds. I said "great", threw the letter away, and then tried it a few weeks later. Admittedly, I didn't pay a lot of attention to the fine print...

When I went online to find info about it, there was nothing. The whole thing was very strange and finally I figured I must have just dreamed it.;)

Well I just got my "official letter" so maybe you don't have it yet. I would call CareMark and ask to see when you get to do this.:thumbsup2

No kidding!!!! I do, and was ordering prescriptions from BioScrip (per my employer at the time's insurance coverage). I was waiting for an order and got home really late on a Monday - nothing in my mailbox, nothing on the table in the lobby. Okay. But when I headed out to work early Tuesday morning - there was my package! It had been opened, and resealed! Apparently, some 'wonderful' tenant, on discovering there were no "good" drugs - read: narcotics - in there, decided to do the right thing :rolleyes3: and put the package back.

Well, one scrip was pills, so no problem - but the other was time-release caplets, and there's NO way I was going to risk taking those. I called BioScrip, and (against company policy) they overnighted replacements and didn't charge me.

Now all my scrips get sent to the home of a family member :)

CVS also has a great deal with their 'Health Saving Plan' for $10 annually to anyone who wants to join! They have a list of 400+ generic meds 90day supply for only $9.99. Altho some cannot take generics, if you can tolerate them - for instance Levothroxine (Synthroid), Omeprazole (Prilosec), etc., it's quite a savings. I am not fond of CVS, but fortunately they are within 5 miles of my home and a couple of my maintenance meds are much less expensive than through our ins Cigna mail order. :goodvibes

I will have to look into it. Right now we get them thru WalMart.

Good Luck to you.

Our company just switched to Caremark/CVS. One of my coworkers has been without her asthma meds since January 4. They have filled her meds wrong 5 times, and each time the Doctor's office has to resend all the paperwork before they will try again. I never heard of such a thing before :scared1:

Is it just at a CVS Pharmacy or any Caremark Pharmacy??

Figures, dh company dropped Caremark last January and switched to Walgreens mailorder. Have had quite a few problems with them. I hate mailorders too, but for ds and my meds, its so much cheaper. Hopefully Walgreens changes to this too.
