i've been away from WISH for about a year and a half now. i've hit the point where i KNOW i need to do something about my weight. i've got the most amazing husband in the whole wide world who loves and supports me, no matter what i may look like. but i'm not doing this for him...i'm doing this for ME!

i plan to begin some kind of regimen monday, 11/15. that gives me the rest of this week and all weekend to figure out what i'm going to do...

feel free to post comments, inspiration, swift kicks in the behind...anything to get me OFF OF THE COUCH!!!!!

Hi,

Here's a beginning:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week: 15 min. walk ( Out of the 24 hours a day we are gifted with, give yourself a present of 15 minutes to take care of YOU because you are worth it )

Drink more water....try to get 3 or 4 in by noon, and 3 or 4 in by bedtime.

Eating out: Ask for double veggies instead of potato or rice and get a container right away when your meal comes- stash half or a third of it away into the container and have it the next day. I read also about someone dividing the food on their plate in half and dumping alot of pepper onto one half so that they couldn't eat it! Avoid alcohol...all willpower goes out the door!!! Drink one or two glasses of water before the food comes. Split dessert with hubby. Sauces, dressings on the side. Hmmm...I'll have to think up some more....

We all struggle on a day to day basis with our choices...remember you're not alone! :sunny:

thank you AuroraluvsPhillip!

i know what i need to do..it's just a matter of actually getting out and doing it...lol. i'm actually stopping off at best buy this evening on my way home to check out the dance dance revolution games. i've heard great things about using the games as a workout! i've done several types of workouts in the past, but i just can't get myself to commit to them again. i guess i'm bored with them! i've done tae bo, which i know works...but it's so exhausting when you haven't been working out regularly. i've got a few denise austin DVD's...but there again, i get bored easily with them. walking is good, but i hate to walk alone! at least i've got my doggie that will go with me! well, when i remember to get her a new harness, that is!

i know i can do this...i just need someone to give me a swift kick in the rear to get me moving!

Hey scarlett!

You and I both need to carve out some time to exercise. I'm laid up right now with some bug, but come Monday, (your start day as well) I'm gonna hit the ground runnin'! Until then, lets make healthy choices. Living in Indiana has been very difficult for me. The lifestyle here really is all about eating out. It's like the New York of the Midwest. :p I have neigbors who say they may as well have painted appliances on their kitchen walls! :p

What I have done to overcome this is to become an excellent cook. There is not any draw for me in restaurants anymore (except hooters and Cebollas) as my cooking is better tasting and better for me. I have also enlisted my kids to help and it really has been a benefit for all of us.

So when can you get 20 mins for yourself? Just start out that way. Walk at lunch. I don't know where in Indiana you are, but if it's Indy or south, the weather is still not too bad, and you can easily grab a portable cd player and enjoy a short walk. I'm going to check on you and just gently nudge you to get up and do this!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

hi tracy!

i'm in pendleton, which is just north of indy! and you are so right about eating out...no one eats at home!! we are very guilty of that too...lol...we are big fans of buffalo wild wings and joe's crab shack!

it's just so hard for me to get out to do anything! i'd love to do the gym thing...but it's not possible right now. we have one car and we live about 25 miles away from where we work...we have a poor dog who sits at home in her crate from 7am to 6pm...whatever i choose to do has to be done at home!

i'm asking for the dance dance revolution game for christmas. it has a workout mode on it and i've heard great things about it! until i can get one though, i'll just start walking i guess!

thanks for nudging me! although at times, i may need more than a gentle nudge...more like a hearty shove! ;)

well, i did pretty good yesterday! for breakfast, i had a fruit and yogurt parfait from mcdonald's...lunch, i had an ultimate BLT wrap from arby's...and for dinner, i had 1/2 of a piece of rotisserie chicken breast, a little mashed potatoes with a little gravy, and corn. i did treat myself after dinner and had an ice cream bar...but they're low fat!! (i have to get rid of these temptations somehow!)

i didn't snack at all while at work! and so far for breakfast this morning, i had a bowl of kellogg's smart start cereal before i left for work.

exercise begins monday...i'm still not sure what i want to do, but i will start monday!!

:wave2: Hi Brandie,
Just wanted to stop by and welcome you back to WISH. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck with the exercise tomorrow  .

OK Scarlet!

Tell me how the day went! I hope you did better than I did. I am still fighting this cold thing and to make matters worse, DH kept me up all night. (He has it too and you know how men can be. Such babies. Not only that, but he does this James Brown thing at the end of every cough! HEAAAACH! OMG! It is enough to wake the dead!) So i had chicken soup for breakfast, Cebollas (Mexican) for lunch and leftover Cebollas for dinner! I did not exercise , but I did walk 2 miles yesterday. DH is in Denver, so I bet I will do better tomorrow. What did you do today. Right now! Go for a walk with your puppy around the block of you havn't gotten your exercise in! Consider this your kick in the pants! Good luck!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy (your friendly drill seargent!)

:wave2:

thanks for the kick in the pants! i haven't done official exercise yet...i'm actually going to have to start tomorrow. :( my mom and brother are coming back tonight. i have to pick them up at the airport at 10:20pm. ack!!! they're staying overnight and leaving in the morning. but our house is nowhere near ready for guests! so that's what i'm doing tonight...finishing the rest of the cleaning before i get to watch larry king (clay's the special guest!!) and then it's off to the airport!

i did alright over the weekend with my eating...didn't document everything, but i did alright!

i actually spent my weekend decorating a cake for a co-worker's son's birthday! it was pretty cool if i do say so myself! he's really into anything having to do with electricity...so i made him an outlet with a plug in it! i took pictures of it, but i haven't gotten them from my camera yet.

:wave2: Hi Brandie, and welcome back to WISH!!

So, it's Tuesday now, and you promised you were going to work out today......have you done any exercise yet??? :p If not, that puppy would sure appreciate a stroll! ::yes::

I hope all is going well for you today! :sunny:

Happy Tuesday!
Sending PD your way. :wizard: I think you will be to wore our after your mom and brother leave, but give a walk a try anyway. It's awfully warm out for November. Get out there before it's gone for months. Just 20 mins.

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

well, it's not an official start to a plan, but i'm trying to watch what i eat for now...

still hanging in there...things get so gosh darned hectic around here!! lol

Hi Brandie,
Keep posting! It keeps you accountable. We're all busy too so we know what you are going through. Every day is a fresh start, heck, even part of the day staying OP is better than blowing a whole day! Pat on the back for any successes...remember, baby steps!
Jean

still taking those baby steps...things are just insane right now!!! i don't have time to stop and breathe, let alone to exercise!! so to help, i try to avoid the elevators and escalators. i'll take the stairs instead...and instead of taking the shortcut back into my office from the restrooms, i'll take the long way around.

baby steps baby steps...:)

here we are...jan 3!! i can't believe 2004 is gone!!!

things are going well. no noticeable weight loss yet, but i've discovered that i feel so much better on days that i eat well!

baby steps...lol
