and I'm wondering what to do about it. I bought a set of swizzlers (sort of like hot sticks, a type of hot rollers) on ebay and when I plugged them in they didn't heat up at all. I emailed the seller and they sent me an email asking for a pic of the problem (it's not a visible problem, they just don't work!) and asked for some other information they already have like my address, the ebay number for the item and told me that they would search their warehouse for another one or send me a credit to their ebay store. I would like them to send me another one if they have it but I don't want the credit if they don't have another one to send. Do I have to accept that? And also, the shipping was three times as expensive as the item, will they have to refund that too? I only paid $14.76 total and $11 dollars was for shipping. Do I have any recourse with ebay or should I just forget it and let this go?

I'm not sure about getting the credit thing, but you could get your money back somehow. HOW did you pay for it? credit card? paypal?

If it was paypal, then you have 30 days to file a complaint. I've had good results using them.

If you paid w/ your credit card, you let your cc company know about it.

look up on ebay's help pages too for more info.

When I've had something that didn't work, the seller paid to ship it back, and refunded my original shipping costs too.

good luck. hopefully it'll work out for you!

He will probably refund you with shipping, unless it states in the ad no refunds. Was this a new item??? Maybe you can use the manufacturer's warranty.

I used paypal to pay for this item. I'm glad to hear I have 30 days to do something about this because I'd really like to give the seller plenty of time to seach his warehouse or send me a refund. This item wasn't new as far as I know but I should ask the seller incase the product warranty would cover it. Thanks for the replies, I feel better now that I know paypal will help me out on this.

You might want to remind the seller that you will need to file a Paypal claim if they do not send you a new set within 30 days of your payment. This might help them find you another set in a timely manner.

As for giving you store credit if they do not have another set for you, you are well within your rights to expect a 100% refund (including shipping both ways) if the item doesn't work (NOT just a store credit). You can file with Paypal if the seller refuses to give you a refund.
