I am so excited but nervous too as I have never traveled w/out DH before. We decided that we will take turns taking the kids on 1 on 1 weekend trips over the next year or two, starting with the youngest as he would have the hardest time knowing about it and waiting, LOL!

We are flying into LAX at 7 pm on May 6th and staying at Hojos with an E.T. rate for 3 nights. I don't want to bring a booster so we are taking the Disneyland express. We have only rented cars from LAX before so this is new. Anyone have any advice about using the DL express? Where do you go? We are flying Delta if that makes a difference. I found a $5 off each person coupon that says to present it when you get there. How do you pay for it then? How long might it be before we get to the Hojos? It is a later start than is ideal but I didn't want him to miss any school on Thursday.

This is going to be so much fun! I am going to pick him up from school and surprise him either on the way to the airport or maybe not until we get to the airport. Any suggestions?

Yay, how exciting! What an awesome surprise!! I took my son on our first 1 on 1 DL trip in 2008 and it was great. I was nervous flying without my DH too, but it worked out fine.

The DL Express is very convenient. Just exit and look for the green overhead sign that says "Buses". There are different signs - shared rides, bus, etc. Other buses stop there too, so make sure you get the DL Express.

I just bought our rides on the DL Express through Get Away Today and we got a deal - everyone pays the child's price, so $22.50 return (which is $10 per adult off the regular price). Not sure if it would save you any money to pre-pay if you have $5 off per person though :confused3 I know that you can pay (they stop at the DL Hotel and there is an office there). Truthfully, it's much more convenient to pre-pay (through their website or GAT) and then just give the driver your paid voucher.

It takes roughly an hour or so, depending on traffic, to get to the Hojo. The DL Express stop is directly in front of the check-in building, so very convenient :thumbsup2

I've done it both ways, prepaying through a package and then just paying there. They let you on and have you pay at one of the sites they have a till at (I think we paid at the DL hotel stop).

I took my oldest daughter on a 1 on 1 DL trip when my youngest was a baby---she loved it. She still begs me to leave her sister behind so we can have another mommy and big girl trip---it was a very special (probably never to be repeated now that her sister is old enough to speak up) trip.
