I'm a DVC member and called member services to book cash rooms for HHI in March 2009. I was told that the rate was $189/nite for a 2-BR (with the DVC discount, but that the rate was not guaranteed). I did get a confirmation number and told that the reservation would appear on the DVC website.

So far there is nothing on my DVC member website, but I'm planning to verify by phone soon.

What does it mean if I was quoted a rate, and given a reservation number, but the rate is not guaranteed? I assume it means the room is booked, but that the room rate itself (witht he DVC discount) is still to be determined...? The regular room rates for March 2009 were just released - how long do you think until I find out what the DVC discounted rate will be for that time of year?

I recently made a cash reservation for HHI for May, 2009 and was also told that the 2009 rates are not out yet. I did get my confirmation letter in the mail with the current rate listed. My reservation does not show up on DVC site (I don't think it will, since it is not a points booking) and it also does not appear on the WDW site. I do not remember them even taking my credit card number, but I may have just forgotten that I gave it.

we are going in 3 weeks and have 4 nights paid in cash.

the CM said this to my wife about not guaranteed, however when my wife asked what she meant, she said it was something they had to say, but that would be the price charged that she quoted

They didn't ask for my credit card number either to hold the ressie. The rate she did say (which wasn't guaranteed) was amazing though ($189/nite for a 2 BR).

I would call back and check....that rate sounds too good to be true.
I'm paying 277 cash rate for a studio at BWV.

Cash ressies do NOT show up on the website.

FWIW, Yesterday I also booked a couple cash nights for Feb, 2009 and was told that the rate is not guaranteed because the 2009 rates are not out yet.

In regards to a credit card, the CM told me they didn't need it because it's tied to my membership number...

:goodvibes

I had a Saturday cash discount night at VWL this July, and it never showed up on the member website, only the points reservation. I paid when we arrived.

The cash reservation will not appear on the member site. Until the 2009 cash rates become available they will not guarantee a rate. They quoted the 2008 rate for your dates and will update the rate (either up - or down) once the new rates are available.

As long as you have a confirmation number you have a reservation.

Enjoy! :)

That's probably about right for Member's Cash in March. We pay around $120/night for a 1 BR at that time. The first time we paid MC there in March, it was because the villa was available for MC, but not for points. But now that we know how great the price is at that time, it's hardly worth it to use our points, so we often just pay MC.

Anyone know when the DVC discounted rates will be out? I was told by our travel agent that the 2009 rates are out for HHI , but the CAA/AAA rates weren't available yet.

The DVC member discount is not always available. Since they have quoted you a rate which includes the discount, it would seem that MS will be able to apply the member discount to the 2009 rates.

The first priority for MS is to make DVC reservations using DVC points. When MS is confident that a villa won't likely be needed for a point reservation it is released to member cash inventory. Sometimes the discount is available right at 11 months and at other times the discount won't be available until within 6 months - if it's available at all. Either way, DVC members will need to wait until MS has access to the rates thru the DVC system.

I would make the cash reservation thru MS (they will link it to any point reservation you have) and they will apply the discount if/when it becomes available. If you reserve thru your travel agent the reservation won't be linked to a points reservation and it's possible that you could have to move during the stay. At the least it would require another check-in.

We have a points/cash ressied for HHI for spring break in early April. We were told the same thing - cash rates weren't out yet, rate not guaranteed. We got the printed confirmation yesterday along with one for our points stay.

Just remember you have 5 days out to cancel a ressie or you get charged apparently........

Called MS today - after being originally told the rate for a 2-BR was $189, I was then told it was actually $277/nite! But when I returned home, there was a message saying that the rate was $207, which still seems excellent.

However that rate is before taxes. Last time we stayed there and booked with a travel agent the taxes weren't listed.

Anyone know how much tax is applied at HHI?
