"I bet they get Charmin" A May 2014 Girls Trip **04/03 THE END**

MGM really doesn't have the best counter service options - but Starring Rolls is one place that is tremendous

I hope that mom is also teaching her child how to tell which groups are ok with photobombers and which groups will get upset. I wonder if they have kids books to teach that skill. "Everybody Photobombs" .... "Goodnight Photobombers" ... "Green Eggs and Photobombs" ... "Where the Wild Photobombers Are"

You guys take fun/great group pictures :thumbsup2

I was very proud of the photobomber, this summer in my day job, I participated in photobombing a lot, and just hope I could have made that lady proud :D

And that bus driver, I thought I was being witty, but his comeback was priceless. It was early in the morning so I don't remember too much about that specifically, but I do remember that he had the whole bus cracking up. It was great.

I make a lot of faces...I think that is just my natural response. That dirt cupcake was delicious, but I am super glad we split it, because there was no way I could have eaten that on my own.

Also you didn't get my seductive picture with Andy, hahaha.

I’m in!
Late to the party, but in! Lol.

So nice of you to pay for your friends to be able to travel with you, that is true friendship!! :)

It’s also nice to see a fellow Canadian! Lol!

Whoa wait! There’s diff sides at KFC in the states?! #priorities I’ll have to check it out at some point, bahaha!

Yay for upgrading & getting more space! Always a bonus!

Ugh, the new movie is seriously so not good. It’s just a big advertisement for magic bands & junk with way less magical and fun-ness! Lol

Yay for finally being in Disney, and starting with some pizza sounds like the best of ideas! I definitely do the same thing with the weaving in crowds, I end up miles ahead of my Mom and end up hoping that she’s not lost…bahah! LOVE the esmerelda bow!!

What are your dates for Sept?! We’re staying at Movies the 8-19th!!

Looks like a pretty decent morning at MK so far! Lots of fun, great fp make ups for ya, some dance parties and yummy food! Yay! And pin trading! Ugh! I can’t wait to go back!! EMH are the best for just going on ride after ride, it makes it so easy!

Great shots of main street/castle area, they’re gorgeous!

Love the matching shirts! Cuuute!

Love AM EMH at ak, there’s never anyone there! Ahaha, I am the same on dinosaur, I so don’t like that ride! Lol. I definitely agree about AK having the best themeing of the parks, it’s so incredible and beautiful there, everything is so perfect!

Man I haven’t done the trail in SO LONG! Perhaps Sept will have to be the time! You got some great pics down there! So cool about the wall featuring hidden lions! Awesome!

UGH! That is the worst service story, sorry that it sucked so much! I seriously can’t stand it when there’s no hustle! Maybe it comes from working in service for so long that I know you should always move faster than that. Like, even if there isn’t a crowd, you should still hustle!

We usually do DTD after AK unless we do it arrival night, or even just do both lol! LOVE WPE for dinner, and yeah, awkward about the whole tipping thing, I usually end up not tipping!

Ahahahah OH MAN WORLD OF DISNEY IS SUCH A TRAP!! Every single time someone gets super lost in there and you end up in the store for a solid like 30 minutes more than you meant just trying to find everyone!

TIIIIINK!!! THAT ANIMATOR’S DOLL IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!

Thanks for the tour around sports! I’ve stayed there once but it was only for 2 nights so I didn’t really see a lot of it!

That cupcake looks amazing! I’ll have to keep an eye out for it next year!

Awesome updates! Love the tr so far and can’t wait to read more!!

That cupcake was a great decision and I'm sure we'll probably end up there again for more cupcakes.

Yeah, there's a skill to photobombing. Don't ruin pictures, enhance them ;) And if those books aren't out, I submit you start writing them.

Thanks. We tried. Had to get that Memory Maker worth while.

I think this lady is going to become the like official face of photobombing. Someone runs into her and is like, "It's you! You inspired me to take my photobombing to the next level and now I'm teaching my kids too! Thank you!"

He was a great bus driver.

Agreed. Splitting was the way to go. I can't believe I didn't do it.

And hey, we need to keep some stuff for just Andy ;)

Welcome! :cheer2: And it's okay to be late to the party ;) Especially cause you gave so many comments I can't even respond to them all.

Canadians ftw!

That's how I felt when I found out about Canadian KFC. Except, you know, sad, because they're a downgrade from the states sides. Do it. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy are the way to go!

What are your dates for Sept?! We’re staying at Movies the 8-19th!!

aww we're just gonna miss you :( We're the 20th to the 28th

It's the biggest trap ever and I didn't realize it until then because we'd never had a group before and Marie and I rarely split when it's the two of us.

It is cute. Marie wants them all.

Not a problem. Anything a girl can do to help ;)

SO good, but so rich. Maybe first thing in the morning it wasn't the best idea.

:flower3: Definitely glad to hear it :)

Yay! So glad you had a great time on your cruise!! The pics look great! Thanks for the pics of the Sports buildings, I'm getting pretty excited for September!!
Hope you both are doing well!

Thanks! And I'm getting excited too!! We're so close and it's just gonna be such a great time. Though, let me tell you, I'm so glad Marie and I didn't do a PTR because our plans changed so much. Besides the MNSSHP and our first and last day, pretty much everything has gone through a change or another.

We are doing great and I hope you are too Lindsey!

Day 3, Part 3: "You could dance."

After taking some fab pictures, we decided that we wanted to try and head over to the Animation Courtyard to see what we could do with our free time.
2iiha90.jpg

Ralph and Vanellope were on break, so Marie and I asked people if they'd be interested in doing a drawing class because there was one going to start in the near future and everyone agreed to that, so we went in and took a seat.

Merranda and Veronica were being silly.
ht5jk9.jpg

Now, we all did draw Donald and I have pictures of all the drawings, but I'm just going to share mine and Marie's. If Traci wants hers shared she can say so :p

124ab82.jpg

Again, I look at it and I'm like, you know, it's not bad.

2yvpcw3.jpg

Then Marie's comes up and it's like, just kidding, it is.

When we were finished, there was need for a bathroom break, so we did that.

2edxif9.jpg

Veronica and Traci are totally lovely, as always.

Everything taken care of, we had a FP+ to make!

29e20yu.jpg

And of course we made a wise choice about where to use that FP+.

9scgsp.jpg

The line isn't too bad though, for standby, as you could see.

We paired off into our teams for the ride and I decided we needed pictures of each team.

20pt1s0.jpg

Traci was taking the photobombing lesson to heart from earlier.

14b0tpl.jpg

Eli wasn't impressed by my need to take pictures or being paired with Traci, who she doesn't like. This is important to keep in mind.

25h0l5u.jpg

And Marie and Veronica were being cuties.

2duf1qh.jpg

Merranda's score and my score. I did better than usual. Marie, of course, won though.

2gxkzes.jpg

I love the, 'Or you can play by yourself!'

li6o4.jpg

Non-photobombed we-sie of Merranda and me.

Since it was getting closer and closer to our lunch reservation, we decided that we were going to head off and try to find something that wouldn't take much time but would still be fun.

2usk9w2.jpg

Mandatory fountain picture. All fountains must be pictured at all times.

When we came across the umbrella, people felt the urge to sing.

sbsf3o.jpg

Veronica, really getting into it.

33o61wi.jpg

Marie, posing it up.

eq8g2d.jpg

Merranda, being a cutie.

Now that everyone had sung that wanted to sing, we continued on our search.

Not that it was really a search, we knew what we were doing.

516kr5.jpg

Meeting the best step-brothers ever.

The line wasn't too long and we sang along to the songs. Or well, Marie and I sang along to them, with occasional input from Traci.

So, I have to admit this, meeting in big groups just isn't as fun as meeting in small groups. I think it's just the sheer size of the groups that makes it difficult for characters to interact so Phineas and Ferb weren't quite as entertaining as they had been in October.

Alas, I was still happy to do it.

2hibdy8.jpg

Awkward group spacing here.

Then the photopass guy suggested that we could dance in the picture and this was the result:
35d156a.jpg

Merranda, Eli and me dancing and everyone else not.

Our group wasn't good with directions, I won't lie. Basically we can smile together and that's about it.

Up next, we get food that I'd been dreaming about.

Gah, I STILL haven't done the animation class in all these years. Seriously, your Donald's are fantastic!!

OK yeah, 75 minutes standby for TSMM is low (relatively speaking), but still no way I wait in that, lol.

"Eli wasn't impressed by my need to take pictures or being paired with Traci, who she doesn't like." Hmmmmmmm... Interesting...

Not being a full fledged P&F aficionado, I'm not absolutely certain it fits for the TV show, but for me the "Ants in the Pants" totally segues nicely into meeting the boys because they have an Ants in the Pants song (again, not sure if it exists in the TV show) at the P&F dance party thing in Disney's California Adventure. So what I'm saying is, nice segue Amber. :thumbsup2

Both of your Donalds are awesome!! I love the drawing class. We only did it once in July but there have been trips when we've done it three times.

Uh oh...the drama approaches...I think that having so many people on a trip can increase the drama, it definitely happened when we had so many people :/

LOL I love that Phineas and Ferb pic! Half of you are groovin' and the rest are just not having it.

Your Donald looks good! Tell Marie to stop being a show off!;)

I haven't met P and F, but the show is cute so I imagine that it would be fun with them. Large groups probably just overwhelm them.

And I like how Merranda's dress is fluttering in the wind in that Singing in the Rain photo.

Love the animation class - and I think you both did quite good ... I mean, they are both clearly Daisy Duck, right ;)

"who she doesn't like" - yeah, that's not foreshadowing :rotfl:

I can see what you are saying about meeting in larger groups - they just can't show the same level of interactions which each person vs smaller groups ... that is probably especially true for the non-speaking characters

You should do it, it's fun even for people like me who are not artistically inclined in the slightest. ;)

True story. Then again I have no clue if the posted wait was correct and that's always what you have to watch for because I've gotten in a 60 minute line and it took 30 so..

Dun dun dun. Could I be more subtle? Probably, I think back on it and I'm like, yeah, I could be more subtle.

It was unintentional but thanks :thumbsup2 If the Ants in Pants song is in show I've never heard it, there is however Squirrels in My Pants which is quite catchy.

We're never in HS to do it more than once a trip, but it is so fun. But thank you :flower3:

It does loom near. And honestly, I'm still upset about it when I think back. Like, without the drama it would have been a near perfect trip.

I know, I guess some of us like to groove more than others

I'll never stop showing off!

The strife of being married to someone much more talented. But thank you :upsidedow

They are usually really great, we met them twice in October and had an awesome time with them, but yeah, I think they were just like "Wow, so many people." I can understand that.

Me too. It makes it all the more fancy.

Right :cool2:

I know, I've mastered the art of subtle foreshadowing. :rolleyes1

I get that but it was a bit of a let down after having such awesomeness in October. Oh well, it was still super fun.

Doh you're right... it is squirrels. Well, the "in the my pants" part still fits, lol.

Day 3, Part 4: "Why would you do that?!"

After meeting Phineas and Ferb, and failing at dancing (yes, I know), we were finally able to head over toward our lunch destination, which Amber was very, very excited about: Mama Melrose!

We arrived at the restaurant a little before it opened and took place in the lobby after checking in.

096s_zpsfb9c04da.jpg

Showing off our newly acquired Tables in Wonderland card - which we were not actually able to use, because we didn't do our research thoroughly, and although it does work for a regular Mama Melrose meal, the discount does not apply to the Fantasmic Dining Package. Oh well!

We were soon seated, and first things first I decided to order a drink, which Traci followed suit with. I don't remember what either were, but this is what mine looked like - glow cube included!

098_zps1b3fc496.jpg

It was pretty yummy, and quite refreshing too.

Next, they brought forth the bread, which is something I'm always very happy about (Amber will tell you it's the French in me. You don't even know how excited I was about the baguette when we ate at Les Chefs de France the first time).

100_zpsd38d518a.jpg

The Fantasmic Dining Package includes appetizers and a main course for everyone, along with a shared dessert platter, so we all started off by ordering our appetizers!

101_zps2600cf10.jpg

Merranda and Eli both went for the calamari, which they seemed pretty happy with!

102_zps6f40af1a.jpg

Amber, Veronica and I each got a Caesar salad. That crouton is my favorite part.

103_zpsca07259e.jpg

Traci went for the mussels, and she seemed pretty satisfied as well!

Overall, everything was pretty pleased with the starting point of the meal, and being fairly hungry, we put all away pretty quickly.

Next up was the main course, and the part of the meal Amber had been excessively excited about for pretty much months now, because if you've read my TR (which is still ongoing, I know, the shame), she fell in love with Mama Melrose's steak. And I have to say, I'm not much of a steak eater - I'd rather have chicken any day. But that steak? Oh lordy.

104_zpscf73e43c.jpg

It ended up being the selection of four of us - Traci, Amber, Eli and me. The one picture above is Eli's, who isn't a fan of cheese and substituted the four cheese sauce with marinara. That did, unfortunately, mean she didn't get to have a taste of the delicious sauce the steak comes with, seeing as the waiter didn't recommend it, mentioning it didn't pair well with the marinara sauce.

Now, there were a few conversations going on at the table, and I wasn't part of all of them of course. I was sitting next to Amber, who sat next to Eli. And according to Amber's short input in this update, part of their conversation, while waiting for the food to come out, went a little like this:

Amber: "I'm so excited, I haven't had this steak in forever but it's sooo good, I've been like dreaming about it."
Eli: "What does the sauce taste like?"
Amber: (In unnecessarily sassy tone) "I don't remember, I haven't had it in forever."
Eli: "I was just asking, geez, there's a better way to say that."
Amber: (Deep sigh because she'd already been using the phrase with Traci and Amber doesn't like to cause issue) "You're right, I'm sorry, I was being sassy unneededly. What I meant was, I haven't had it in over a year so I do not remember exactly what it tasted like."
Eli: "Okay, that's all you had to say."

And then it was over. I know, that's not the drama you were promised - and that's cause that's not the drama that happened.

Moving on to the other food selections!

105_zps6dc9b02b.jpg

Veronica's pick was the whole wheat fettucini.

106_zps41d8eaa5.jpg

And Merranda had the shrimp campanelle!

Everyone seemed very happy with their selection, and honestly, Mama Melrose is a restaurant we could do each time we go to Disney for that steak alone. We were definitely glad to get to have a taste of it again!

Finally, once everyone was sufficiently full, the dessert platters were brought out!

108_zpscd35677e.jpg

This is just one of the two - the other only had repeats, though not of everything. The selection included panna cotta with cherries topping, panna cotta with mango compote, chocolate amaretti cheesecake, chocolate torte cake, and coffee cream puffs. We all sampled happily, except for Amber who unfortunately didn't like any of it.

109_zpsd457ee72.jpg

Group picture to finish off an awesome first table service meal!

After taking care of the bill, we headed on our way out and walked by Muppets Vision 3D, not stopping just yet, but getting a picture of the fountain, because it's a rule now.

110_zps40e8298c.jpg

At that point, the waiting times for everything were getting a bit lengthy, and we had a FastPass+ to make in a little bit of time, so we tried to figure out how to kill some time while still getting something done.

111_zpsff4b18ac.jpg

We ended up heading back over to the Magic of Animation

112_zpsc9b27dbc.jpg

To meet a couple of real cool kids!

113_zps6f8ea8dd.jpg

Vaneloppe!

115_zps2da4fcb8.jpeg

And Ralph!

116_zpsfc64eaca.jpeg

It was a pretty neat character meet, they handled the larger group a bit better than some of the other characters we'd met thus far. They're always pretty cool to meet, though, so no surprise there!

117_zps3a82b869.jpeg

We're all winners!

After the meet, we still had a bit of time left over, but decided to take a small sitting break while still inside the building, at which time Traci took the time to make a call to her bank because she had charges on her card she didn't remember making, which was worrisome seeing as that card was her only way to settle her Disney bill, and so obviously she didn't want to have to cancel it. Thankfully enough, it was just a suscription she'd forgotten about, so all was well on that side, and after a few more minutes of resting, we made our way back out into the heat.

118_zps9affb8dd.jpg

With a certain building looming in the distance...

119_zps8f8dd405.jpg

That's right! It was Tower of Terror time!

121_zps460730da.jpg

The standby wait was actually pretty reasonable, so we could probably have gotten on without too much problem even without a FastPass+, but since it's one of the slightly cooler rides on the second tiering of the FastPass+ selection, we figured why not?

122_zpsc2a5f4bc.jpg

And guess what? We got Amber on it!

123_zps95c66da4.jpeg

Everyone was pretty thrilled, too! Well, Amber was terrified, but you know. Everyone else was pretty thrilled :P I admittedly didn't help a whole lot, because as we neared the drop, even I was starting to get just a little anxious (I hadn't done that ride since November '12, when I'd done it alone, and I had memories of a love-hate relationship with it), and I may have started saying "Oh my God, oh God", which didn't really help her nervousness a whole lot. But hey, she made it out alive! And in case you're wondering - the chapter title was her contribution to the drop experience.

Celebratory survivors picture!

Doh you're right... it is squirrels. Well, the "in the my pants" part still fits, lol.

We could just make it a new one ;) They did do a whole episode where ants were the focus because they made a giant ant farm and then Candace became the ant queen. So it's like a merging of the two.

Just have to say it... glowing drinks rule.

Ah yay, I do love the Ralph and Venelope meet. They always seem to be great, plus I'm just in awe of Ralph since he's SO HUGE!

Congratulations on ToT Amber!!! See, it's not so bad. And well done Marie for being the reassuring wife, lol.

I love Mama Melrose! When I was there, I had the shrimp dish as well. :) Sorry Amber didn't like the dessert, I haven't experienced it yet but it looks really yummy!

And I ADORE Vanelope and Ralph, their hugs are AWESOME.

I completely understand about Tower of Terror, I'm okay up until the ride starts moving, then I start to sweat a little! Love-hate relationship indeed.

Can't wait for more!

Alright, Mama melrose is definitely on my list now!! I've always been intrigued but the steak sounds amazing!!

Yay for everyone getting on ToT! Definitely one of my faves!!

Cute pics with ralph! :)

You don't often see a ton of reviews of Mama Melrose but all of your food looks pretty darn good - sorry that Amber didn't like any of the desserts though

But congrats to her for bucking up and going on Tower of Terror!

Mama Melrose looks awesome!! I've never been but I loveeee steak so I should definitely try it sometime.

Ralph and Vanellope rock!! Such a cute picture with you all flexing.

I too am TERRIFIED of ToT but this trip I conquered my fear and actually got on it. I had a death grip on the handles though, no way was I putting my hands up hahaha.
