Is it true, the resorts are going smoke free??

It is my understanding there is no smoking in any public building in Florida. For the past number of years I always smoked outside or by the pool. No smoking was allowed even in the bars.

There are designated smoking areas in all of the parks, but when I was just there, I saw lots of people just walking around w/ cigarettes hanging out of their mouths. So I don't know how much the "designated smoking areas" get enforced.

I got something to say on this issue. It s@%$!!!

Yes I smoke.When I go there(resorts)We pick the non-smokiing room.

I can take my butts outside, that way my family donn't have to inhale the same..

You can see me 5:30AM outside smoking.I do the same thing at the house..

They go non-smoking at the resorts, they will be loosing my chances of staying there again..

I do not put anyone in harms way doing what I do except myself!!!

I have reservations at the Hard Rock for October 30 - Nov 2. When I made the reservation I requested a smoking room.

I received a call last friday telling me that as of September 30th, the Hard Rock was going to all non-smoking rooms. They asked me if I wanted to change my reservation to one of the other two hotels on property, as they would still have smoking rooms.

I made this reservation for the purpose of going to the Halloween Velvet Sessions. Changing hotels would not be an option as it would be more difficult to stumble back to my room after the Velvet Sessions, if I had to wait for a boat or a "bike boy" to take me back to one of the other hotels.

The reason this makes no sense is that the Hard Rock wants you to "party like a rock star" and they treat you like a "rock star" while you are there. Now you show me one "rock star" that does not smoke! I guess they will still smoke in the room and will just laugh at the $250 fine they will get for smoking in the room.

I just can't picture a celebrity hanging out at the smoking area outside.

It would of made more since to make the other two hotels non-smoking and kept some smoking rooms at the Hard Rock.

I guess I will just go back to WDW for my next vacation since I can't smoke in the rooms there either.

Fly

If you already do all your smoking outside, why would then new policy make you reconsider staying there? :confused3 I'm sure it will be the same as WDW resorts - smoking prohibited in the rooms/buildings, but designated smoking areas outside. I seriously doubt they will make it no smoking at all on property.

I have no problem with non-smoking rooms..If you read my post..

What I was trying too say if the WHOLE resort goes smoke free inside and out, like other resorts in Orlando,I will not be staying anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure you will be able to smoke in many areas right outside the hotels. They will probably designate many and have the facilities there for smokers.

It may be true that it is just the Hard Rock going smoke free since all of the other Hard Rock Hotels are smoke free.

One of my favs. is sitting at Jakes Bar,talking to total strangers with a cold one,and smoking a Doral.Had some of the best times poolside talking to people that are from around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny...I have a smoking club room booked and I have received NO phone call about this.

I don't want to make anyone mad but to me its seems like everytime you turn around they are singleing out smokers and yes I am a smoker and have respect ones that don't.
But at the same time I shouldn't be told I can't and I'm an adult not a child.

Nobody is telling you that you can't smoke. They are just telling you if you are going to be on/in their property, you must respect their rule on where you can smoke. I am sorry you feel singled out.

Just my opinion, but I think the reason smokers feel as they do now is because things used to be so welcoming to their habit for many decades. Little by little, those places that are welcoming are disappearing as it is becoming more welcoming for those who prefer no smoke (consider those who are asthmatic and had to "just deal with it" for many decades). It's the shoe on the other foot scenario. My husband is a smoker and my mom used to be (both outside smokers). My son is asthmatic as well as my brother. I have seen both sides of the fence on this issue for many years.

long time smoker (now ex-darn it:rolleyes1 )

beside whatever laws/ordinances r in play, cynic in me thinks their insurance rates will drop too; compelling enough for the corp

im all for personal freedom, just remember tales from ex's family(firefighters), many calls of peeps falling asleep in bed w/a smoke:sad2:

ps i too smoked only outside out of consideration for family, even when snow was on the ground-brrrr. Yet, i have observed when sitting out on my balcony @ WDW in the am enjoying that 1st cup of java, i inevitably was assulted by wafting smoke from another guest(s) - especially the cigars:scared:
