I Ate All That Food & Still Lost a Pound?!? Dining Report w/lots of pics! COMPLETED!

Terrific reviews!!

Great reviews and pictures!

Thanks so much for taking the time to post your reviews! I am really enjoying them. :)

I'm glad you guys are enjoying it :goodvibes. A new post will be up tomorrow!

Just curious. Did the pork come with rice and mashed potatoes or were those sides ordered. It just seems like a lot of carbs to me.

Yes, the rice and potatoes came with the pork chop.

Great review - I can't wait to hear about Narcossee's - I have yet to try it. And I know exactly what you mean about planning Disney vacations, I love to plan them even if I'm not going on the trip, imagine how excited I get planning my own. Thanks for taking all the wonderful pictures and the time to put it all together. I am inspired for my upcoming trip.

I know everyone is looking forward to Narcoosees. I promise it will be up tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Fabulous reviews!! Thanks for posting them!!

Oh and about the Mickey Waffle Maker, I recently purchased one from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it was only $15!

Great reviews, thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed hearing about Coral Reef, as we have an ADR there at the request of my sister and it's the one I feel least confident about.

Oh good to know! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!:thumbsup2

I know what you mean. I was a little nervous about it also because of all the reviews. I was glad I decided to try it anyway because I wanted to experience it for myself. I ended up having a great time and a really good meal. My thinking is that if you don't go just because some people were unhappy with it, you could be cheating yourself out of what could have been a great experience. My parents always taught me to try everything once and if you don't like it, just don't do it again. In this case, I'm glad I tried it. Have fun on your trip!

Day 4 – 9/8/07 Saturday: Earl of Sandwich & Narcoosees

Earl of Sandwich – 11:42am

Cost: $50.40

Today was our day off from the parks. We rented a car for today to go shopping at the outlets and the Mall at Millenia. After we picked up our car, we headed to Downtown Disney because we were going to Earl of Sandwich for lunch. Phil had the Cannonballs sandwich, a soda, and a cup cake. Elaine had the Frenchy sandwich, bottle of water, and a cup cake. I had the BLT sandwich, bottle of water, and a bag of chips. Jesse got the Original 1762 sandwich (again), soda, and an apple/cinnamon baked muffin crowns.

(Elaine) Le Frenchy - ham with creamy French brie and dijonnaise sauce

(Me) Best BLT - bacon, lettuce, tomato, on crusty bread

I didn't take another picture of this sandwich, but if you missed it, it is posted on page 1.

Everything was good as always. I love Earl of Sandwich because there is a lot of variety. Can't go wrong with this place:).

Michele called me while we were eating and said she was done with work. We picked up a Hawaiian BBQ sandwich for her and headed over to her dorm to pick her up. Then, it was off to SHOP!!

Michele always gets this at Earl of Sandwich. So I think it is safe to say that she enjoyed it very much.

Narcoosees – 9:25pm

Cost: $363.25

Michele’s cost: $27.64

We originally had an ADR for Narcoosees at 8:30 for the 4 of us. When I found out that Michele was working the morning shift, I called Disney dining to see if we could add 1 more person to the reservation. They said the only availability for a party of 5 was at 9:25pm. We just took it because Michele really wanted to have dinner with us. I was really excited about eating here because I’ve read a lot of good reviews and there were so many yummy things on the menu.

After all the shopping, we got back to the room around 7:00pm. We showered, got dressed, and headed to the Grand Floridian. We arrived at Narcoosees around 9:15pm, the restaurant was pretty empty. As soon as you walk through the front door of the restaurant, you can see the open kitchen directly to your left (why am I telling you this you ask? you’ll see…). To your right, is a door that leads to a balcony that overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can see Cinderella’s castle, space mountain, and the Contemporary Resort from there, its a beautiful view. The Electrical Water Pageant had just started, so we took some pictures and watched some of the pageant, it was really cute.

DSC02978.jpg

Here is one of the pictures we took out on the balcony. From left to right, its Jesse, Me, Phil, and Elaine.

Our name was called right at 9:25pm and we were brought to our table. Susie, our server came over to get our drink orders while we looked at the menu. We all ordered sodas and Michele got a hot pear tea. Everything on the menu looked so good. Sometimes its good to be with a group of people, that way you can each get a different thing and everyone can share. That is exactly what we did. :idea:Phil ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels, Elaine got the fried oysters (it was that day’s special), I got the fried calamari, and Jesse got the crab cakes. Jesse was a good sport because he is allergic to seafood/shellfish and couldn’t eat any of the appetizers. He could’ve gotten the salad for his appetizer, but he was nice enough to get the crab cakes so the rest of us could try it . Michele did not order any appetizers as she was paying OOP for her meal.

Sorry, it wouldn't let me resize this picture

Everything was really delicious. The fried calamari and oysters were not greasy at all. They were really crispy and had so much flavor. The mussels were soaked in this really good sauce, which gave them a really buttery flavor. Phil was dipping the garlic bread he got with it in the sauce also. He loved his appetizer. Last but not least, the crab cakes. They were slightly sweet and had a lot of flavor. Every appetizer dish was wiped clean!
We were really excited about our entrees because appetizers were so amazing.

For entrees, Phil and I got the steamed whole Maine lobster. I was debating between that and the grilled sea scallops, but I was really in the mood for lobster. Elaine got the grilled filet mignon and butter-poached lobster tail. Jesse ordered the grilled filet mignon and Michele ordered the summer vegetables (also a special for that day).

DSC03002.jpg

(Michele) Summer Vegetables - wild mushroom risotto, hearts of palm slaw, heirloom tomato tabbouleh, and crispy haricot vert with wasabi mayo

After having such delicious appetizers, we had high expectations for our entrees. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! That lobster was the best lobster I have ever had. It was fresh and just so good. Everything was already “pre-cracked” so all you had to do was pull the meat out with a fork. I could tell Phil was really loving his lobster as well. He said it was one of the best he’s had. Jesse said his filet mignon was perfect. Very tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Elaine enjoyed her filet mignon as well, but said she liked our lobster better than hers. The lobster tail was not a Maine lobster so she said it didn’t taste as good as ours did.

Let me do a quick little rewind…when our entrees first came and we were getting ready to start eating, I see Michele with a fork full of food up in the air, just staring at it. I was giving her a “what are you doing?” look, when she said to me, “Is that a fly?” :scared: Sure enough, it was a fly . Lying flat on its back, legs up in the air, dead in her risotto. Now, remember in the beginning I was telling you about how they had an open kitchen right near the front door of the restaurant and also another door across from the kitchen leading to the balcony? Well I had noticed when we first came into Narcoosees, there were a lot of flies by the doors because of the lights. Well, probably at some point while Michele’s food was sitting on the counter, waiting to be picked up from our server, the fly flew into it. Our server was no where to be found, so we told another server who was walking by what happened. He quickly took the plate away, apologized, and said that they would make a brand new one for her.

Well, great but poor Michele was hungry :sad1:. Michele just ended up sharing our food with us because she was the only one who didn’t have anything to eat. It was when everyone was almost finished that her dinner came back. I believe it was manager that came back with it and apologized for what had happened. Michele still ate some of her food because she still wanted to try it. She said it was very good, light, and everything tasted very fresh. I tried some of it too, and it was good.

Now, it was time for dessert! Again, we each ordered something different so we could try everything. We ordered: the Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert Cherry Sauce, Warm Chocolate Almond Gateau, Key Lime Creme Brulee, and the Coconut-Mango Panna Cotta.

DSC03005.jpg

Here we are, about to dive into those desserts!

Key Lime Creme Brulee

These desserts were fabulous. My favorite was the almond-crusted cheesecake. It was so rich, creamy an had an awesome almond flavor. This was Phil’s favorite also. My next favorite was the panna cotta. It was light and just melted in you mouth. It was really good with the kiwi sorbet. Next would be the crème brulee. It was creamy and a little bit tart, but still good. My least favorite is the chocolate almond gateau. I expected it to be a lot more chocolatey. It didn’t really have a lot of flavor, it was kind of bland. Luckily, there were 3 other really good desserts to keep me occupied.

Overall, the five of us really enjoyed this meal. The food was really amazing and we would all go back in a heartbeat. Even though we had a little situation, it was our favorite meal of the trip. It was totally worth 2 table credits and I would definitely recommend Narcoosees to everyone. :thumbsup2

Up next: Day 5 - Pizzafari, Ohana, & way too many snacks...

YUM!!!

We're booked at Narcoossee's the night before hubby's birthday and I can not wait. Everything looks amazing. Being from New England, I love seafood and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the lobster and the mussels, even though those are things I can get here. But they always look so good in these reports.

We're also going to be dining at Boma for the first time during that trip. That should be an interesting one since it's like nothing we've ever had before.

Great report!

Question, and you may not be able to answer - it's just hubby and I on this trip with the dining plan. Do you think we could realistically share 1CS for breakfast and 1CS for lunch? Seeing some of what you guys used your CS credits for, it almost looks like enough food for us to share comfortably and then be able to almost double our CS credits.

It's great to hear good reviews for Narcoossee's! We have an ADR for our anniversary dinner in Feb and I'm super excited about it! I have one small question for you... was the calamari spicy? With the peppercorn relish I just wasn't sure, cause I love me some calamari! Thanks so much for the great reviews!

There really is a lot of food so I'm sure you and your husband will be able to share 1 cs credit. Keep in mind for a cs credit, you get get an entree, drink and dessert. If lets say, it isn't enough, you guys can use a snack credit for an additional item and I'm sure that would make the meal plentiful. Hope that helps!

I'm so glad to hear you will be going to Narcoosees. You will love it there. The calamari was not spicy at all. It was very crispy and light. I don't really like spicy foods and if something is even the slightest bit spicy, I can taste it right away. You have nothing to worry about. Hope you have a great time!

You Earl of Sandwich pics look so yummy! I think we will have to try there next time we visit!

You should really try it. Its very good. They have a lot fo different kinds of sandwiches, wraps, and salads. If you're on the dining plan, you get a choice of one sandwich, wrap, or salad. A drink and a dessert for 1 cs credit.

Wonderful, thank you for sharing!

Thanks for reading! More to come!

Super report, I am really enjoying it. It is making me hungry too.

Pizzafari – 11:31am

Cost: $28.72

Jesse and I went to Animal Kingdom today while Phil and Elaine went to return the car. Phil and Elaine had breakfast at Mcdonalds and went back to Port Orleans to hang out at the pool. We were all going to meet up at Ohana for dinner later and then go to Magic Kingdom.

Jesse and I were getting hungry around 11:30 so we decided to go to Pizzafari. This was our first time eating here as we always tend to go to Flame Tree BBQ. When we went in, it was really quiet and only a few tables had been occupied. We walked right up and ordered our food. Jesse got the chicken parmesan sandwich that came with a choice of chips or grapes. He chose the grapes, a bottle of water and chocolate cake. I got a pepperoni pizza, bottle of water, and a frozen strawberry lemonade for dessert (a nice change from the usual chocolate cake). We also got an order of breadsticks because Jesse wanted to try them. The breadsticks counted as 1 snack credit.

DSC03037.jpg

The pizza was pretty good. I was hot, cheesy, and very filling. I was getting pretty full about half way through. Jesse finished his chicken sandwich, so I’m pretty sure he liked it. He also ate some of my pizza. The breadsticks were not that great. Just tasted like bread. I think I ate half one of stick and never touched it again. We threw most of it away. I was more excited to have my frozen strawberry lemonade. I love those, they are so delicious. We also opened the chocolate cake to take a few bites. It was good. After awhile all those little chocolate cakes you get at the counter services meals seem to taste the same.
Overall, I liked Pizzafari. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant was very clean. I’m glad it wasn’t very busy when we went because it can probably get really noisy in there. I wouldn’t mind going there again.

Ohana - 4:10pm

Cost: $134.41

Michele really wanted to come with us to Ohana as this was our last table meal, so I called Disney dining again to see if we could add one more person to our reservation. The CM on the phone told me that we were booked for a table that could only fit 4 people and they were fully booked for the rest of the night, so they would not be able to accommodate her. I was a little disappointed, but I understood, I mean it was during free dining after all. Our ADR was for 4:10pm. We arrived and checked in at 4:00. I was given a pager and was told that it would go off when our table was ready. It went off 5 minutes later and we were being lead to our table. As we were walking through the restaurant, I noticed that the place was so empty! There was practically no one there. Then she shows us our table…a table with 6 chairs. I’m thinking WTH:confused:? If Michele had come, she could’ve totally sat with us. I was kind of annoyed with this, but there was nothing I could do at this point:mad:.

This will be my 4th time eating at Ohana, Jesse’s 3rd, Elaine’s 2nd, and Phil’s 1st. Although the service here is not that great, we always come back because we like the food. Out of the 4 times I’ve eaten here, only once have I had good service. Unfortunately, it was not this time. The server we had this time was the same server I had the first time I ate here. She was just as bad this time (if not worse) as she was the last time :sad2:. Normally you have a main server and an assistant server. The assistant server usually gets your drink orders and starts bringing you your appetizers.

Things started out fine, our main server brought us our drinks and the assistant brought out the starters/appetizers.

DSC03047.jpg

From the top, going clockwise, Mixed greens a honey-lime dressing, honey-coriander chicken wings, spicy-sweet and sour shrimp, and fried wontons with peanut sauce, chimichurri sauce & harissa

DSC03048.jpg

stir-fried vegetables and Maui scalloped potatoes

I really like the salad that they have here. It comes with a honey-lime dressing thats a little bit citrusy and very light. My 2 favorites here are the wonton chips & dips and the Maui potatoes. The chips are really crispy and go really well with the dips. My favorite is the peanut dip. The Maui potatoes are really cheesy and yummy! We always end up getting at least 2 plates of the potatoes.

The chicken wings are good also, very saucy. I don’t really eat too many of the shrimp because I’m too lazy to peel them, but if you don’t mind the work, they’re also tasty. I usually don’t bother with the vegetables as I’m too busy eating the potatoes.

The meats were starting to come around (brought out by another server), first they had skewers of steak and pork. Then followed by skewers of turkey and sausage. I got a piece of everything but the turkey.

DSC03049.jpg

left to right: pork, steak, and sausage

All the meats were really good, everything had a bit of a smoky flavor. My favorite is the sausage. It had been about 15 minutes since we got our first round of meats and Elaine wanted more turkey. We waited…waited some more, our main server happened to be walking by and we stopped her to refill our drinks and to tell her we wanted more turkey. The assistant server came out and started clearing our appetizer plates. 15 minutes later, the turkey came. At this point Elaine didn’t even really want it anymore since it had be 30 minutes since the first round of meats came, but she ate it anyway because she had waited so long for it. The assistant server came back to clear the rest of the plates. Then we just sat there again…for another 15-20 minutes before our main server brought our dessert.

DSC03050.jpg

Bread pudding a la mode with Bananas Foster Sauce

I love this dessert, it is so good! I love eating the warm bread pudding with the cold vanilla ice cream. The sauce makes it extra rich and extra sweet.

Once we were done with dessert, the main server came back and asked for our card (this she came back for in a timely manner). We quickly signed away our last 4 table service credits and got out of there.

I definitely don’t think that she gave us bad service because her tip was guaranteed as we were on the dining plan. I think she gave us bad service because she is a bad server. The first time I ate here, we were paying OOP and she was still horrible. I think Elaine would be fine with not eating here again. Phil was totally turned off from this place. He thought the food was good, but the service kind of ruined it for him. He is usually a very patient person and will sometimes still give someone a generous tip for below average service (which we yell at him about). He was extremely disappointed here and for Phil to say that, it must’ve been pretty bad. Jesse and I still really like Ohana and would probably go back again. Although I think we might take a little break from it for awhile.

Up next: Snacks for dinner?!?!

I'm enjoying your reviews, I'm sorry you're coming to the end. I've read about the rice krispy treats at Goofy's but this is the first time I've seen photos of them. I was thinking no big deal before, but now that I've seen them I must make a trip there to get some, LOL. :goodvibes

Great reviews! I was happy to see that you had such a good experience (except for the fly) at Narcoosee - we'll be trying it for the first time next month.

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Great reviews! I'm almost 100% convinced to try Narcosee's next trip!

I am getting close to the end aren't I? :sad1: Writing this report was a lot of fun though. You should definitely go to Goofy's Candy Co. and get a rice krispy treat! They are really good and its fun to watch them make it. Its great for kids too. I think you'll really like it.

Narcoosees definitely got a :thumbsup2 in my book. If you do decide to go there, try to schedule it so that you can watch Wishes. Its a gorgeous view.
I love your picture with Pluto...its so cute!

Great reviews and pictures. It was good to see snacks. Thanks.

Thanks for reading! If you like snack pictures, stay tuned because there are a lot of snacks to come!;)

I'm already salivating :) Love snacks !! But we're always so full from our meals at WDW we never even tried a Mickey bar yet. :guilty:

After Ohana, we hopped on the monorail and headed to our last park of the trip, Magic Kingdom :sad1:. We walk through some shops and went on a few rides. We were walking through Tomorrowland when Jesse said he wanted a smoothie. I told him we should go to Auntie Gravity’s because they had really good smoothies there. Plus, this was our last day and we still had 13 snack credits left.

Auntie Gravity’s – 7:08pm

Cost: $8.50

We got 2 smoothies to share. These smoothies are so delicious and you can really taste the fruit them. It was still kind of humid out so this was very refreshing.

DSC03052.jpg

Strawberry banana smoothie and Tropical smoothie

We were still really full from Ohana so we knew that we wouldn’t be able to eat another full meal that night. We decided we were going to walk around Magic Kingdom and try a whole bunch of different snacks (and go on rides too of course)! :thumbsup2 Sounded good to me. So off we went with our now 11 snack credits.

As we were walking out of Tomorrowland, finishing our smoothies, Jesse suggested we walk around Toon Town for a little bit. I thought it was a great idea since we haven’t been in Toon Town this trip yet. I wanted to see if there were any rare characters wandering around. Sadly, there weren’t any and as were on our way out of Toon Town, we passed a popcorn cart. That lovely buttery popcorn smell surrounded us and we couldn’t resist it.

Toon Town Popcorn – 7:28pm

Cost: $2.75

DSC03053.jpg

This is definitely my favorite Disney World snack. I don’t know what they do to it, but freshly popped Disney popcorn is the best! Its buttery and salty, I could eat that stuff all day. I also love how all their packaging now has the Year of a Millions Dreams theme on it. We sat down on a bench near where they do the face paintings and enjoyed our popcorn.

It was time for a ride! Phil really like Philharmagic and wanted to see it again so we headed towards Fantasyland. And whatta-ya-know, Jesse passes a cart full of churros and he decided he wanted one of those. So of course we stopped so he could get one.

Pretzel Wagon – 7:44pm

Cost: $3.00

DSC03054.jpg

Churro with chocolate dipping sauce

Mmmm, churros. Another one of my favorite snacks. I didn’t really like how it tasted dipped in chocolate, but Jesse did. I just took a few bites of it plain. Crunchy and sweet on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside…MmmMmm.

I had read on the Disboards that the sweet cream cheese pretzels here were really good and that was on my “snacks to try” list. They had them at Scuttle’s Landing and I was about to get one, but then I said we should see Philharmagic first and I’ll get it on the way out. Well, when we came out of Philharmagic, Scuttle’s Landing closed :headache:. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait and try it next time.

The park was pretty crowded that day and it was past 8:00 at that point, so we decided to go and find a spot for Wishes. We continued through Fantasyland and walked through Liberty Square when I remembered that Phil had mentioned he wanted to try the funnel cake here. We were passing Sleepy Hollow and I told Phil that if he wanted funnel cake, he would have to get it here. He said he was really full from all the snacks and didn’t think he could eat anything else. I said, “Ok, but this our last day and its your only chance to try Disney funnel cake.” (until the next time he comes back that is…) He caved and decided to get it since we all said we would have some too.

Sleepy Hollow – 8:25pm

Cost: $7.01

Phil got the funnel cake and Elaine ordered a frozen twist. The frozen twist was basically a slushy with 2 different favors. I believe it was watermelon and sour apple. They tasted just like Jolly Ranchers. I wasn’t a big fan of this because it was a little too sour for me. Jesse and Phil really liked it though.

DSC03056.jpg

Frozen twist and funnel cake

The funnel cake was really good. It was hot and sweet from all the powdered sugar. I was only able to eat a little bit of it because I literally about explode from all the food. Everyone was so full and there was still about half of it left so I was about to throw it away. Phil refused to let me throw it away and said he would finish it. He took a deep breath and took a big bite, started chewing, and swallowed. Right after he swallowed, he didn’t look so good. It looked like he was going to throw up . So I took the funnel cake away from him and threw it away. Phil doesn’t like to waste food, especially good food, but there was no way he was going to be able to finish it without making himself really sick. Plus, it was extra magic hours and our last night, so no one was going back to the room early :snooty:!

Auntie Gravity’s – 11:01pm

Cost: $8.29

After Wishes it was time to go on more rides! As we got off Space Mountain and most of the snack food had time to settle, Phil was in the mood for a sundae. We went back to Auntie Gravity’s and Phil ordered a chocolate sundae with hot fudge and Elaine got another tropical smoothie.

DSC03057.jpg

Phil’s chocolate sundae

We left Magic Kingdom around midnight. I was feeling sad because our trip had ended . This just means when I get home, I’ll have to start planning my next trip :woohoo:!
