LOL!!! I took my 10 year old daughter to get her hair cut yesterday and she begged for bangs!!! Her hair is super thick, straight because it is so heavy. I told her that if she was to get bangs they would all curl up. The hairdresser agreed with me, and we talked her out of it for now.

having a flashback to the 60s when my mother would cut them sooooo short, they were little more than cowlicks atop my forehead.....

or my father would take the scissors and cut them straight across with a ruler, no less than one full inch above my eyebrows - yeah, very flattering...

I have a high forehead too and I don't look good with a parted-in-the-middle hairstyle. Since I wear glasses all the time now, it really does not look good if my huge forehead is exposed. Even DH, who doesn't really pay much attention to hairstyles says bangs are better on me. Also when you get older, bangs hide forehead wrinkles. I don't have many yet, but I know they're coming!

I've come to this conclusion after years of comparisions.

As for proving it, how could I? It's a matter of opinion. I feel strongly that women with bangs look better, but it's just MO.

I completely agree. I hate the no-bang look and think it truly looks good on very few.

I grew my bangs out once.... didn't last long. I have a very high and wide forehead. There was a vast expanse of white flesh between my dark brown eyebrows and dark brown hair... not a good look for a woman.

I agree. I just think it depends on the woman. I think I look better with bangs because I have a short forehead. My stylists and I have gone all over this and we always end up with some sort of bang on me. Other people, just depends.

I think it depends on the bangs, themselves. I think if you get the "chopped across the front, one length" bangs, they don't look so good. If you can get a longer bang, that's layered and textured and kind of wispy looking, they look good.

Well, I just bought the book, 'How Not to Look Old" and it says that women over 40 should always have bangs. Now there are bangs, and then there are bangs. I'm not talking about straight across the forehead, little girl bangs. But, longer, sideswepped bangs look good on most people and that's what I have.

I think most women should wear bangs, but not the straight across the forehead type that I see on some women.

I think it depends on the person and the style of bangs too.

The latest trend of really deep and long bangs look awful!! The one celeb. that sports that look that comes to mind is Rachael Blisson (?) oh yeah, and Heidi Klum (?). The bangs are in their eyes & you can't see any of their eyebrows. It throws off the proportion of their faces. And they are both beautiful! It's a shame. I don't know who their stylists are, but they should hire someone new!

I will never NOT have bangs. They may be clean or shaggy, short or long, blonde or brown - but I will have bangs. My hair is kind of thick so a middle part looks weird on me. Frankly, I agree that generalizing about bangs is ridiculous. Faces are all different shapes and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
