because I want to see what the best AP/code rates will be....do you think I should just book now to play it safe....with POR closing, do you think all the moderates will get booked up....

I would advise booking now. There are already dates in October that the moderate resorts are sold out. With the closing of POFQ, I would not take a chance. You can always have your reservation converted to the AP rate when they are released.
