I am very afraid for my daughter - Update #56 All O.K.

I'm praying it's nothing but glad they are trying to get you in sooner if they can. It's so hard waiting to hear.

You have to think nothing but positive. Not only think positive, imagine the outcome as positive.... go over it in your head, again and again - the outcome is fine.

Lot's of positive vibes coming your way. :goodvibes

I'm thinking of you and your DD. I'm praying you get answers quickly!!

:grouphug:

As someone who has gotten the full workup from an opthamologist--they'll call you in without the pediatric specialist if it's serious. Is there a possibility another MD in the practice can see her? I know it's not ideal, but I did fine seeing a non-pediatric opthamologist the whole time I was a kid.

Whenever you get the appointment--bring an i-pod or an MP3 player. I still need to be distracted through the pressure checks, dialations, and overall prodding. Just don't expect to get her to school the rest of the day. The kid's going to want a break. ;)

Keeping you & your daughter in my thoughts & prayers. Please keep us posted.

Keeping your DD in my thoughts and prayers (plus sending some pixie dust your way:wizard:).....I know you are worried but stay off the internet as all it will do is terrify you, once you find out what is wrong then use it as a resource

Denae, you and your daughter will be in my thoughts. I know how hard waiting can be. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Denae, I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

If you don't mind traveling to MA, my eye doctor is amazing. He's not a pediatric eye doctor, but he saw my oldest DD (IVF babies have a higher rate of retinoblastoma, so she's been seeing him for a while just to make sure). He's a friend of the family and actually checked out my cat once. Awesome guy, brilliant, amazing bedside manner, he once removed a metal shard from my eye and I didn't even feel it, and, bonus, open on Saturdays. He's there all the time and affiliated with Mass Eye and Ear.

If going to MA (Winthrop/Revere) is an option for you, PM me and I can send you his information.

I hope it's nothing serious. I'll be thinking of you guys. :grouphug:

I should hear today about an appointment. The person who is working on this for me said he has contacted the opthalmologist's nurse at his other office and sent the information to her. I am wiling to travel to that office if an earlier appointment is necessary.

pezheadmeg - thanks for the advice. I will bring her MP3 player to the appointment, whenever it is.

I really do feel a lot better after talking to DD's pediatrician. Hopefully this is just an irregularity with no underlying condition.

Today is DD's birthday! I can't believe she's 10!

She got an appointment at 3PM tomorrow. Wish us luck.

Good Luck with your daughter's eye.

My 11 yr old son got hit with a baseball in the beginning of Summer. He had a Hyphema (blood clot) in his eye and we have seen more of the ophthalmologist that I would have liked to this year. He has had issues with his eye pressure since and it's just now getting back into the normal range. Eyes are not anything to fool around with and I hope whatever they find with your daughter is nothing serious.

Denae I just saw your thread. I'm so sorry! You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there! PM me if you want to chat.

A big Happy Birthday to your daughter! My "baby" turns 13 next Tuesday!!

DD had her appointment this afternoon. The opthalmologist said her eyes were absolutely normal, and he did not see what the optometrist saw. He corrected her RX and said he did not need to see her again for 3 years.

All that worrying for nothing. :headache:

Thanks again all for your good thoughts and prayers. :flower3:
