What would you guys do?

There will be 5 of us. Me-31 , DH-33 , DD-5 months, DF-55 and DNephew-11.

The baby is of course on formula. All adults are somewhat big eaters. DN is a picky eater, but LOVES a good steak.

Would you guys buy a voucher for each person? Also, I read that the 11 year old could use a child's voucher. Is that correct? If they wouldn't let him order from the adult menu, I'm sure I could find something for myself on the children's menu.

Also, we are staying at the Staybridge Suites and would eat lunch at AK RFC then go back to the room to rest and get the baby out of the heat. So, if there were left overs we could definitely eat them for supper. I am leaning toward a voucher for each since 3 adults and 1 child would costs $105.75 and I think would feed us all for lunch and supper.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

We used the VKL vouchers at RFC over Memorial Day weekend. It was me, DH, DD8 and DD6. We had 1 adult and 2 child vouchers. We were allowed to order off the adult menu with the kids' vouchers. Let me preface this by saying that DH and DD8 are BIG eaters. We had WAY, WAY too much food using 3 vouchers. Next time we will only get 2 for the 4 of us. One thing to do is check out the menus on allearsnet.com and see what your family would order. If you could be satisfied with something off the kids menu, you would probably enjoy one of the appetizers (the quesadillas were big and tasty!) as your entree, then your DH, DF and DN could each order an entree and share the other 2 appetizers and you could all share the 3 desserts. (and they could share their entrees with you. I love to get tastes of a bunch of different things.)

I would recommend getting 2 adult and 1 child voucher for the 4 of you that will be eating solid foods. I bet you still have tons of leftovers.

You just get a ton of food with each voucher IMO. Dh is a big eater and he can't even eat the app, entree and dessert by himself. I think you should have plenty of food with 2 vouchers.

Also, you don't necessarily get an appetizer with the kids vouchers. That is hit or miss.

I second jlw29's opinions!

I'd also recommend getting your third dessert "to go" if you order the Volcano (it takes 2 vouchers)!

We were 5 adults using 2 vouchers...and we had waaaaaay too much food...couldn't even begin to finish the volcano we got for dessert.

We ordered steak (upgraded to a larger one) and 1/2 crab-stuffed lobster for one entre and steak (upgraded to larger one) with coconut shrimp and scampi substituted for the lobster.

We had sticky wings, carribe chicken and a chi chi something (5 little chimichangas) for appetizers. I get a free appetizer because I belong to the Rainforest Safari Club.

One person in our group ordered an additional chicken salad entre ($13) and one ordered a vegetable soy burger ($6 or $7) and a mai tai ($7)

Two had raspberry ice tea and the rest had ice water.

We shared the volcano for dessert and did not finish it.

The lobster went home as did almost the entire chicken salad because everyone was stuffed.

I had tried to tell my daughter's fiance that there would be plenty of food, but he insisted on ordering the chicken salad and then ate so much of the appetizers and shrimp he wasn't hungry for his own order! lol

The people next to us last time we ate there, used a voucher for their baby..of course the baby didn't eat, but they let them order off the adult menu, and one of the adults ate it. She told us they always suggest they use a child voucher for the baby.

Which RFC did you go to? The one in DTD or in/at Animal Kingdom.

The vouchers are only good at AK..however, one of our last trips, we were allowed to use them in both locations...but that is unusual.

DMRick,

I called personally to the Rainforest DTD and was told that they can be used. Call them yourself at (407) 827-8500. I was told that in order to use them (at DTD) I had to be there with reservations for 4pm. The Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom does not have a timeframe on theirs.

Thanks for the input. I think we may just get 2 adult's and one kid's vouchers. Unless DH decides we should splurge and have one awesome meal (with two days worth of left-overs!).

Thanks again!

Aha..so that must be why they let us the last time (May). Thanks! They were a little more confused than the AK, in what was included so I assume this is newer for them. I wonder why they don't put their location on them.

When you used yours at DTD Rainforest, where the kids able to order off adult menus? Was there a difference between the two location as far as how the vouchers could be used?

We ate there a couple of times last month..but didn't have kids either time. The kids at AK next to us (and our grands on a past trip) ate off the adult menu.

The main difference between the two was that when I swapped my stuffed lobster for the cocoanut shrimp..they only gave me the amount they give if you order cs off the bat. AK gives a lot more when I order the stuffed lobster and swap for cs. They also allowed our drink to be a rootbeer (in a bottle)..Ak doesn't allow it. I also seemed to have to guide our waitress, as to what food came with it...she didn't have a clue and didn't realize at first that I could get the appetizer from the safari club if using a voucher. AK has it down pat.
