I am thinking of switching from DCL Stingray Tour to Capt. Marvins..

Another great option is Captain Bryans I think. He has has a gorgeous 50ft Trimaran(catamaran but bigger) that is very nice and comfortable. Its like two trips in one, you go sailing and stop to snorkel and visit the rays Much nicer than a motor boat. They have some great rates available too

Go with Captain Marvins....

We did on our June 22 Western cruise. We did the Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef and Stingray City tour. We had a great time, they did a nice job and they were friendly and helpful. We saved a few $$ over the Disney Excursion too!

Try to book early in the day to allow yourselves extra time to shop or to enjoy 7 Mile Beach. We asked the Captain Marvin's shuttle driver to drop us at 7 Mile Beach on the way back to the office. They did without a problem (at the Holiday Inn) and we spent a few hours there. Then we took a taxi ($4 each) back to the ship.

Enjoy!!!

I have heard that Red Sail does a nice job if you want to sail vs. motor. They are also located at the Hyatt on 7 Mile beach so after your tour you can hang out there.

We did Disney for the convenience. We will probably try Captain Marvin's in Jan., just for variety, but we were happy with the Disney trip too. We were broken down into multiple vans, and our driver for the tour portion was a riot!! Then we we onto boats in the same small groups and went out to the sandbar. The groups were a perfect size...plenty of room, and small enough so that the guide could help out with feeding, photos, kids, etc. The only slight glitch was that we got back very late (we were worried because we had spa appointments...just made it in time!). That was a problem on more than one Disney excursion, so hopefully they will restate the times when they reprint their brochures. Other than that, we really enjoyed it.

We were thinking about doing Captain Marvin's afternoon snorkeling trip, I think it's from 2pm-5pm. That way we could walk around and shop in the morning without being wet and having snorkel hair. We have early seating for dinner (I think it's 5pm) so we would have to eat at the buffet that evening. Does that sound ok? We've haven't cruised in years!

We just came back from the 8/17 Western and took Capt. Marvin's excursion. We also talked to people who took the Disney stingray city tour. Capt. Marvin made 2 stops before getting to stingray city to snorkel in the reefs and the Disney excursion did not. It was an exceptional excursion. Highly recommend Capt. Marvin's. We snorkeled with 3 children. They were very helpful. Good Luck. Donna

Hey McTigger !!
You're on the boards already ! You just got home !! We also did the Captain Marvins tour and would highly recommend also. the snorkel stop was great and they were very friendly. Talk to you soon.

Barb,

Which DCL excursion did you do? It looks like there are a couple versions - with and with out other stops?

Hi! We did the DCL Stingray City and Discover Cayman Tour. We were a large group and were split up between 2 mini-buses. Our bus stopped at H..L first, then the Turtle farm then at Stingray City then a rumcake shop. Our friends on the other bus did the turtles first, then H..L then we met up and did the stingrays together. I think they mix up the routes so it's not so crowded at each individual stop.It worked out fine because the most important part was being together at the stingrays. We did the DCL for the convenience since it was our first time cruising. Sue.
