I am so tired of people who say all coupons are for junk!

One word in New Jersey: Shoprite!
Just hook your price plus card up with all the available programs. I have Baby bucks ($10 off a $50 transaction after you reach $100 and with a dgd, that adds up) and Shoprite Family (for every 100 points you earn, you can redeem for $2 off you next transaction) are 2 of the programs I participate in. Sometimes I've gotten Catalina coupons and I didn't even know what I bought to generate them (yes, even for milk)! They also have programs (recently Dole) where if you spend a certain $ amt within a certain time frame, you will receive a coupon (I think it was a certain $ amt off your next transaction). I love my store!:lovestruc

oh cry me a river. You have no idea how many coupons go unused and to waste. My DH taking a few coupons off a tearpad for meat or cheese or snacks isn't making it or breaking it for anyone. They are for anyone who wants them. You have some serious sour grapes. Using a coupon does not = doing "anything" for a buck.
But you didn't say they were tearpad coupons, you said they were wine tag coupons. And I think taking a bunch of wine tags / peelies, etc, (anything attached to a product,) without buying the product it's on is rude. And taking a ton from a tear pad, and not leaving any for others, I just find that rude too.

Well, it can be very disappointing to the person who would have used the coupon but there aren't any because someone took 3 or 4 or more. That's rude in my book.

These are things I've gotten this week, and have used coupons for.

Cereal - $1.67
Blueberries - 50 cents
Beans - 25 cents
Soy Milk - Free
Almond Milk - 90 cents
Cat Food - 19 cents
M&Ms - Free
Foil - 50 cents
Pasta - Free
Fuze Drinks - Free
Vitamin Water - 20 cents
Guacamole - Free

That isn't my complete shopping trip, since I did buy a bit more produce then that, nor is it everything I had a coupon for, but I did get some really good deals.

I personally use coupon to save money on things that I have to buy, so that I can spend the extra money for what I want. ( All things Disney)

I shop at Publix and sometimes they will have 5.00 or 10.00 off a 50.00 purchase, but it is only in the AD that come in the mail. So you have to make sure to check it out.You can use that on whatever you want. Right now they have a coupon for 5 dollars off a 25.00 dollar gift card with the purchase of 5.00 in hallmark cards. I have to buy birthday, mothers day, and a anniversary card. So I will use that coupon, and start putting away G/C for Christmas.

We also use coupons for oil changes, car washes, free appetizer's, discounts on meals BOGO or just recently 20% off a Ruby Tuesday's, at Home Depot I get coupons for free plants and other gardening items. At Yankee candle during Christmas, I used my coupons to score lots of candle's and gave as gifts, We use coupons at the outlet mall all the time, I have gotten free socks and some kitchen items at one of the kitchen store, and other discounts for 5 to 20 dollars off depending on purchase amount. But again only on items that we were going to buy.

So to me it worth it to do some looking around and clipping, to save on what we have to buy and take care of, so that there is some extra $$$ for what we want to do.

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

P.S. Glad to see that you, A WOMAN, appreciate "The Princess Bride"...all my girlfriends are like ehhh, it's boring! :confused3 They just don't know what's up! :lmao: I love saying some of those quotes in your sig!

It's "inconceivable" that people don't think "The Princess Bride" is funny:)

Marionnette... sweetie... what is a "conscience?" Did you mean to type "conscious?" It's like an open zipper... you can't let a fellow dis'er walk away with their fly open.

The best food (in my humble opinion) doesn't come in a box, a can, or a pouch... it doesn't have a stamped nutritional label or a brand name...

I think a lot of people get upset, in general, about our country's propensity to eat a diet mainly consisting of processed, sodium & sugar filled, saturated fat "food" products... my family's health care premiums have increased and it isn't because *my* family is healthy... it is because the majority of families are not...

And being healthy does not have to do solely with weight (a previous poster suggested that her daughter was healthy because she was not overweight)... think about your internal health and the parts of your body that you don't see...

If an item has something in it to make it edible for periods of up to a year?!? Are you kidding? Why would you want to put it in your body...

I spend LESS money now on food (and by food, my definition, I mean perishable items) and we eat like kings and queens around here...

So some of us do get worked up and do care what you and your family are eating because it is affecting our health care costs... which isn't appreciated.

OMG this drives me more crazy than anything as well! Thank OP for saying this! I coupon, and people are always telling me they don't because they don't eat crap. Um, how is that NOT insulting? Glad I'm not the only one!

I am so tired of people who say all coupons are for junk!

Really, there are plenty that ARE. But, just this week I've used coupons for:

milk
eggs
bread
cheese
Greek yogurt
butter
olive oil
flour
sugar
peanut butter
razor blades
Zyrtec
Advil
Ziploc bags
foil
deodorant
shampoo
toothpaste
cat food
litter
bleach
cereal

I also bought some processed stuff which I used coupons on as well! No, I'm not perfect, I try to eat well but I enjoy treats, I'm on WW so that affects my shopping as well.

All of these items were items I would've purchased anyway, all were name brand, but that's because I am able to get name brands for cheaper than many generics (I shop at a Military Commissary, which helps). I don't buy 62 bottles of mustard because they're on sale, but I will buy one or two spares for the pantry if it's on sale and I have a coupon--as long as the expiration date is far away--because I will eventually use it.

The point I am trying to make--everyone who doesn't coupon says all you can get is junk and it simply isn't true. If you don't have the time or don't want to dedicate the time to couponing, then don't! But don't automatically assume the rest of us eat all crap.

Sorry, I just needed to vent!:flower3:

IMO most who say this stuff have no idea where to start with coupons. Have people tell me that cutting coupons "makes" them buy things they normally wouldn't???isn't that giving that little piece of paper called a coupon a lot of power?:lmao: of course do not buy what you would not use. and I do not even coupon extreme just for my weekly and monthly things. Milk and produce coupons in our area news papers and suburban city news letters easy to find here:thumbsup2 now I do stock up on paper products and deoderants and toothpaste we would use in 6 months. but not any further out than that. so when see things can get for free do get them and donate to food banks or shelters.:cool1:

All I can say is wow! Just wow!

are the groceries in the picture the ones you say would cost $150? And that you had no coupons for the produce, or did I misunderstand?

No way that would cost that much. I could easily get it for the $50 you seem to have spent just by shopping loss leaders, and aldi's. Not to mention our farmer's market.

So am I confused?

clintswifeymomof4,

Your zipper's open, sweetie. "Conscience" is, indeed, the correct word in the context of "Let your conscience be your guide."

Yes, the amounts came right off the receipt, I didn't make it up, so yes there is a way it would cost that much. Without sales and coupons, it would, it did, that is the price that was on the item, I didn't just invent a price. There are a couple of things I listed that are not in the picture, but they are in my list. I did use coupons. My point in this is that you can buy things other than junk and still save a lot (in this case 65% on your grocery bill) by combining sales and coupons.

You joined last month and only had 4 kids. But your signature says you have 5.

"Nikki ~ Wife to 1, Mom to 5! Recently went from 217 lbs to 128 lbs and ready to take my kids (ages 9 months to 9 years) to WDW!"

Was the 9 month old born this month?

Between this thread and another, I am getting the giggles. Dis boards are on fire today.
