I am so PO'd and confused!

Last friday I called grand gatherings and held seven rooms for my wedding guests.. I was told that if I wanted to get a group discount on the rooms, I'd have to book 10 or more rooms... well, now I have more guests coming and staying at the hotel so I meet the 10 room requirement.

I just spent a half hour of my work time on the phone being transferred between group reservations and grand gatherings and no one can help me! I'm trying to add the additional three rooms and see if I can get a discount but grand gatherings tells me they only handle reservations of less than 10 rooms, but when they transfer me to group reservations, they tell me I have a grand gathering reservation and they have to help me! GGGRRRR!!! I'm so mad I feel like crying!

I really wanted to make this simple and easy for my guests so they could just call, give our reservation number, and get one of the rooms that is being held for me.. but it's so complicated!! I think I may just cancel the entire thing and tell everyone to just call on their own and handle it themselves. I really wanted to try to get a discount so everyone could afford to stay in the same hotel and not have all my guests and friends spread out!

I know none of you can really help or give advice.. sorry! I'm just venting!

My DF told me the other day.. "why are you doing the reservations this way? (holding them and booking them through grand gatherings)... shouldn't you just let everyone do their own room reservation so it's less stressful?" - and I guess he was right.

wow, I thought with Disney the process would be smooth and ok, but I guess not!

I'm going to feel really dumb emailing my guests and telling them just to do their own reservations now, especially after I told them all I was working towards getting a discount. *sigh*

Couldn't you just cancel the Grand Gathering ressies and re-book under group reservations?

Will your EM not do the reservations for you? I don't know if you're doing a custom or an intimate, but they do this for customs and for an intimate I'd think they could at least help you get this straightened out.

that's probably what I'll end up doing I guess and hopefully no one cancels on me at the last minute.

sorry, I know I made a huge dramatic deal about it when it's not...

*breathes deep* it's just being transferred back and forth from department to department really stressed me out....

now I know how it feels and why people can be so aggrivated and upset! (I used to work in call centers/customer service)

9 rooms and under can be a GG ... 10 or more you need to go thru Group reservations. Going thru group reservations you will have a service manager and contracted lower rates. If your having a Disney wedding there are wedding people that can handle that for you ..

8 or more people .. when you hit 10 rooms your considered a "leisure Group"
meaning a group that would require no convention space

well, I got it figured out in the end... I just did a grand gathering and it turns out there are.. *counts* 12 people staying at the same hotel... but we ended up with less than 10 rooms, so no discount.

but that's alright. Honestly, my friends and family told me they'd rather spend a little extra money to stay in the same hotel as me and DF in order to be able to see us more and spend more time together anyway. awww. *warm fuzzy feelings*
