I am so baddddddd!!

Just in six months I saved enough money to pay for my 8day trip to disney minus travel money(which will come out of our family savings). Thats great news, but today I was so weak, weak I tell ya! I went a bought a digital camcorder!! It ran us 440.00. I was planning to buy a digital camcorder before our trip anyways, so I used our disney money to pay for it. So now I have to save that money all over again.

Here's what I got : Samsung SCD103 MiniDV 332.00 + 79.00 insurance. I still need to get a carring case, firewire, DV tape(no I haven't purchased those yet) and some other odds and ends.

Oh what a day!!

First Good Job on saving and getting your trip paid for.

You still have plenty of time to put back what you spent. Sometimes we have to reward ourselves for being so good in the first place

Why would you pay a 25% premium for insurance? Am I correct in assuming this is an extended warranty? Extended warranty plans for such items are generally not worth the money.

It'll be worth it though! Just think of all the memories you'll capture with it!

Consider it to be a long-term investment. You've got plenty of time to make up that money before your trip. Take the time now to get lots of practice using the camera.

Thanks all!! I am pretty happy with it. Thank god I do have the time to make that money up!! Now I just have to go and buy some types for it today. Can't wait to start recording with it. Our fist use will be at Sea World here in San Antonio TX.

Why we bought the insurance? Because we are the type of people that if we didn't buy it, something very bad would happen as soon as the one year manufacture warranty ran out. It has happen to us before with our HI8 camcorder. So paying the 79.00 for 3 yrs for insurance is a lot cheaper than paying 200.00 plus for repairing it.

Just be proud of yourself for paying for the videocamera and not putting it on your charge. I think anytime you can invest in a big purchase like that and not have to charge is deserves an atta boy!! Good job.

tikilyn - my one suggestion would be.....Did you pay for the camera with a platinum credit card? Check and see if they have an automatic extended warranty and what it does/does not cover. If you do and paid with that card, you could cancel the extended warranty from the camera dealer.

Jgates: in response to your question, We used the Disney Visa Credit card for the points and I will pay it off tomorrow with my disney cash. Dh says to keep the insurance. Thats fine, better safe than sorry(in our case). Thanks for the suggestions. I do appreciate it!
