I am seeking advice about traveling with a Down Syndrome 34 yrs old

So we are planning a grand gathering event! My family of 5 has been to Disney several times- this time is going to be different. My brother is 34 and has downs syndrome. He is high functioning and has no other health issues. I am wondering if anyone has traveled before to the world with an older downs person. I am looking for suggestions, tips, or things that I may not be thinking about in the planning stages. My family is preparing to "slow down" in the world knowing that we will never see it all. My brother was in the World when his was little. He is excited to be going away with us.

Just time for a very quick answer.
Since he is high functioning, I would ask his opinion and help for planning. Are there things he likes or doesn't like?
Are there things he really wants to see.

This may not be true of him, but many people with Down Syndrome have muscle tone issues that affect their stamina and balance, even without any other health problems. So you should consider he may need a wheelchair at times, especially if he's tired. Most people don't walk the number of miles at home that they will walk at WDW- people with Down Syndrome are not unusual in that regard. But muscle tone and stamina might make the miles more of an issue for him.

does he have any cardiac issues? If he does, think about what time of year you'll be traveling--you'll want to avoid the heat.

Since he has no health issues, I'd think you should be fine. DD has downs and is 40 years old. WDW is her happy place. I'm sure you will have a good time.
