I am putting in my resignation as wdw travel assistant JOIN ME

I retired recently too, lol. Our neighbor asked for help the night before! :earseek: I tried the best I could to explain Disney in the 1/2 hour she gave me, lol. She came back a week later and reported she had a miserable time-could not eat where she wanted on her birthday and she did not get to do the rides she wanted! Can anyone tell her where she went wrong!??? :rotfl2:

We have neighbors going in January for their first trip. We have told them they need at least a week to see everything. They decided to make it a 5 day trip instead and because they don't want to get up early, they will not arrive at MCO until 4-5pm. Day 1 shot. THey the return fairly early on Day 5, leaving them 3 days at WDW. They want to sit down for a little bit so we can tell them how to do it.

These people have no clue and will not listen to me. The husband booked on Expedia because he said he is a preferred customer who can get a better deal than anyone else can. I could have saved him some more, but he didn't want to listen, and as far as I am concerned he can book with Expedia to save me the time wasted.

They did listen and booked PSB at Norway. SO, one good thing the listened to, but I just think they are going to return home hating WDW because they think they know it all and they have no clue.

Thanks for the rant!

Aren't we all one big happy (?) family ?

My wife has relatives (most of them) whose mission in life is to look gift horses and advise in the mouth.

We have finally learned. We just stand back and let them stumble thru life. Like my wife says "As long as it's not our time and money". Could be we are the ones that are wrong, but we are happy.

Hey Pizza man,
I love people like your neighbors, they make it much less crowded for us DISERS who are jonesin' for WDW every other month. They go once and are done. I'm glad they got it over with.
Now if the rest of you guys would stop being so obsessed . . . maybe I could have the place to myself! :rotfl2:

That's so sad. A couple of years ago I gave advice to a coworker about where to stay at Disney and gave info for dining ressi's, castle breakfast ect., I also lent her my unofficial guide. I really didn't do much, but when she came back, she gave me a beautiful card saying that if it wasn't for me, her daughter wouldn't have has such a great trip, and in it was a gift card for Kohl's. I totally didn't expect that at all since I didn't do much, but I was very surprised, and it really made my day!!! :sunny:

Hey, I just had to reply because of the fellow Upstaters on the thread (canwegosoon, owtrbnks, and any one else I might have missed). We gotta hang together to make things work. I sure appreciate all your help and advice!

:goodvibes Welcome to retirement...now can you help me plan my Christmas 06 trip.... :rotfl: :rotfl: I can't decide between 2nd week in Dec/flying and a 3-4 cday trip or Dec 24th-29th with driving on each side. I know I want to do CP and I think I can skip the MVMCP. But other than that I don't know what I want.

It absolutely cracks me up :rotfl2: that people are befuddled by how we have gone for 2 straight years and a third on the way. But when I tell them about free dining, off season deals, codes, wendy's coupon cups, they look at me like I am crazy. "Who wants to do that?" Is what they are thinking, but then 2 weeks before my trip they are like, "You guys are going again?" Yep :goodvibes I learned early on that people want all the benefits with none of the work.

This is inkkognito, posting under her hubby's ID:

How sad to be unappreciated! But I know what you mean, as my husband is the local Southwest Guru. He has Dings down to a science, but so many people don't understand them. Thankfully, the people he helps are always grateful. We do our share of online check-ins for them, too. The program seems simple...not sure why so many people are befuddled by it!

All this goes to prove that no good deed goes unpunished. In my case people ask for, then ignore, my advice, after which they complain they paid too much/waited too long/didn't understand FP and a dozen other things they'd have avoided if only... Any more I e-mail my browser's Disney Favorites links folder and wish them Good Luck. I Hope to see some DISers there in March.

I find it even more distressing when people disagree with you. I have had people disagree about the size of parks, name of parks, confuse non-Disney amusement parks with Disney, location of attractions within parks, etc. One of my favorites is the man that disagrees that I enjoy seeing new things on each trip. "There is no way you have not seen everything" This man went to Disney in 1972! My sister tried to help someone recently get a refund credit on Southwest, they argued that there was "no way" so she just quit. Some of the names for Fast Pass and Early Entry are just too funny! Really though, my advice to people is not only do they need to do the legwork, they have to be motivated by either saving money or enjoying the research. I enjoy it for both reasons but most people do not. For those people, there are travel agents (who enjoy it for one of the two reasons stated). Actually those that do not "get it" or are most rigid are most vulnerable to pay the higher prices. Let them feel the pain!
