Is it more expensive to book a left hand ails dh has a leg brace and I can’t imagine him sitting in a window or middle

Also if we get separated on the flight can he still pay for my snack pack

Flying delta next month

Yes, he can still pay for your snacks if you aren't sitting together on the flight. He can give the flight attendant the money and ask them to give the snack to you by pointing to you or giving them your row and seat number or you could walk and get the snack from him after he buys it.

I haven't flown Delta in a while so I can't remember how they price their seats. Many airlines charge a little more for window or aisle seats than they do for a middle seat, but it's usually not that big of a difference, if any. With a leg brace, I would strongly recommend getting him an aisle seat, even if it is a few more bucks. He will be much more comfortable. If his brace is on the left leg, get him a right aisle seat. If the brace is on the right leg, get him a left aisle seat.

Have you already booked your flight? Did you pay a fare that lets you pick a seat? If so, you can go in on their web site and see what is available, change seats, and upgrade if necessary.

When you go to check in on the day of the flight at the airport you can ask the ticket person if you can get an aisle seat for him. Just point to the problem leg and they will probably be able to do something for your husband. Without an aisle seat or a bulkhead seat he probably won't even be able to sit down if given a middle or window seat.

Thank you

No seat selection I will hope for the best for dh

Why is there no seat selection?

No aisle seats available?
Did you buy Economy Basic (which, per the rules, doesn't allow seat selection)?
Did you not want to pay the fee?

Depending on your answer, advice may differ.

Worst-case scenario - can you husband remove the brace temporarily while seated on the plane? If not, what is your plan if you cannot get him an aisle seat?

Disability Seating

We accommodate any request for seating that helps you manage your disability. It is our responsibility to provide you with any available seat, which you are qualified to use in the cabin of service purchased, in advance. Additional accommodation may be made for:

  • Passengers who use an aisle chair to get on the aircraft — and can't readily transfer over a fixed aisle armrest — can be provided with a seat that has a moveable aisle armrest on some aircraft.
  • Passengers traveling with an attendant helping them during the flight will be provided side-by-side seating
  • Passengers traveling with a service or support animal will be accommodated with any available seat, but will be provided a bulkhead seat by request
  • Passengers with a fused or immobilize leg will be provided with any available seat for which they qualify, on the side of the aircraft that appropriately accommodates their disability, or a bulkhead seat, by request

What's an available seat? One that is not already purchased by someone?
