I am looking for a travel desk for kids

I am looking to buy some kind of lapdesk or something similiar for our ride down to DW in April. Does anyone know where I can find a decent one, with storage areas for crayons, pencils, etc. I saw one in a catalog quite a while ago, but now i dont know where it is. It was decent though, had legs that folded out, like a kids tv tray, but it had pockets on the side and a cupholder on the top. If anyone has anything like this and could tell me where they purchased it, I would be very greatful! Thanks.

Also interested in what you find out, as we do at least a couple pretty long van trips a year. This summer we're driving from Nebraska to Florida again(2nd time)!!!!! Now that's what I call a road trip!

I found a great one at WalMart. They had them in two areas--by the school supplies (when school was starting) and also in the supply aisle (by the other office supplies.) It was really reasonably priced too. My daughter used it on our trip to WDW in the car.

You might want to check out Familiyfun.com , they had a great idea a few years ago using a metal covered cake pan. The crayons and other things could go inside and on the metal lid they made tic- tac -to squares out of tape using magnets for the x's and o's.

Saw some yesterday at WalMart in the school supplies area, but wasn't looking for them so I don't know the details. They have a soft base to sit on the child's lap comfortably.

Catalogs--try Lillian Vernon. Not sure if they have a website, but would think they probably do.

I have one that is made by Crayola. It's quite basic but does the job for us. The base (lap part) is actually a bean bag type neck pillow, the top is a table with a small lip to stop things rolling off. The bottom can be unclipped from the table and used as (u guessed it) a neck pillow. It also comes with a mesh bag full of crayola twistable crayons that can be attached to the table.
Whichever you find ... they're great for road trips.

our fave "tray table" is hard molded plastic w/big "pouches" on the 'leg' sides... they hold tons of stuff, including a sippy cup or juice box! i've only ever seen them in red, at kmart near the rubbermaid storage stuff, and sometimes near the school supplies... they stack one inside the other if you have more than one child... they cannot, however, be used w/carseats...

DS has the same one! I bought it for a road trip to the Smoky mountains adn he uses it now for every road trip. The pillow comes in handy too. It is great. I think I paid about $10 for it at Walmart.

Got the one at Target for my DD on sale for $10 - in automotive. Hangs on back of seat, has fold out desk and LOTS of pockets, one for drink, one for a cd player, works great for her.

We got ours at Kmart too, probably the same one as gigi1313, works great at home too. I think we paid about $4.00, well worth it for us.

Bought the Crayola Turtle lapdesk at Christmas and have seen the same one recently at Toys R Us (Crayola stuff was on sale there today!!). Also, I found a hang-on-back-of-carseat style on Ebay before the holidays as well, only the best part is that it is a WDW style...Royal blue and red trim with tons of character pictures all over it! Try a WDW search on Ebay and be patient with the long list of items...Good luck!
