I am at Disney and staying at the Boardwalk Villas studio, and I must admit I love this place. I wanted to "test drive" a DVC room to see if I would like it and I do! Any advice or comments you'd like to share about Boardwalk? I guess resale is still the best way to go to purchase DVC?:yay:

Thanks for your post! Now I'm even more excited! We are staying in 2 Boardwalk villa studios in 12 days and then moving to a 2 bedroom villa at the Beach Club. First time using our DVC. We bought Boardwalk points and then Beach Club points...all resale...I highly suggest you do the same. We saved so much buying through resale.

Wait until you try a 1 or 2 bedroom with a Boardwalk view. You will be the owner of 500 BWV points in no time.;)

You have got to be one of the smartest people, test driving a $16,000 purchase that could cause you to spend $100,000 during your ownership. :thumbsup2

Every resort has it's pros and cons and every person has their likes and dislikes. BWV Boardwalk View is the best on property.

Ha! Well, I don't know if I would have that many points. :-) I'm single and I usually take my mother to Disney for her birthday in late April because she loves the spring and garden show. If I did decide to puchase, it would only be a 100 to 130 point contract. We actually stayed in the Downtown Disney Hilton the first couple of days, because I had an extra day off from work, and we REALLY enjoyed that place! It was extremely well managed and convienient. We would stay there again.

Thanks! I'm very careful about how I spend my money and where. I got a 30% discount on this room, and I have reservations til Thursday, May 3rd. We stayed at the Downtown Disney Hilton Friday and Saturday nights and REALLY enjoyed that place.

We just spent 5 nights at the Boardwalk Villas 2 weeks ago. Our home is BLT, but once in awhile we like a change and enjoy the Epcot resorts. We had an awesome 1 BR standard view that was the very last room at the end of the hallway on the 4th floor. We had a great view of Tower of Terror and the canal. We love the location, the theme, and the easy walk to 2 parks. We also really enjoy BWV's Community Hall. We did not like that the villa needed many minor repairs/updates, the lack of a self serve mug refill station (I mean really- nowhere in the entire resort to fill up your own mug! What a waste of plastic cups and an annoyance to guests), and the sharing of buses to AK and DtD. 5 resorts share one bus to those locations. BWV shares with Swan and Dolphin for MK, which wasn't bad at all. Good luck on your purchase!

Glad to see your post. Thinking of doing the same thing in a couple of weeks. How's the view from your room?

I'm curious, in your room how far from the elevators were you? I've heard that BWV is notorious for its long hallways.

As far as you could possibly get. We were the last room at the end of the hallway going in the direction of Hollywood Studios. We loved it. I had requested to be away from the elevators, so we got our request. We didn't use the elevators once; the stairs were across from our villa door and we ended up at the Villas pool/Community Hall if we turned left and at the door leading to the path to the bus stop if we turned right.

Depending on where you want to go, the hallways may be shorter than you think.;)

Not any longer than the walk from Congress Park to The Carriage House at SSR or the walk from the North side of BLT to the Front Desk at the Contemporary. :goodvibes

Distance is relative.

And the hallways are air-conditioned!

Glad to see your post. Thinking of doing the same thing in a couple of weeks. How's the view from your room?

My view is AWESOME! From my balcony on the fourth floor, I see the pool, Swan and Dolphin and a little of the water way. I booked a standard view, but I got this...really cool. But, they booked us in Room 4070 which is an accessible room and we don't have those needs. It doesn't have a bath tub or closet. It only has an armoir with an exposed vacuum cleaner. The room needs a little work, but it's super close to the best elevator to the Boardwalk itself and lobby.

Ah, those BWV rooms have been sprinkled with just an extra touch of Pixie Dust. We had the one across the hallway from you the year I decided DVC was a must have (rented through an owner here on the Dis).

Resale is the way to go. Although, I purchased through Disney the 1st time around: the $ off, plus developer points, plus no dues for a year really brought the price down close to what I would have been paying to rent the additional points and then buy resale, and it didn't hurt they had a way to book a NYE trip for me on the spot.

Research all the properties you're interested in both in person and dues wise. Most of all....Enjoy your trip!

OP, just some info; when you book standard paying cash, you can easily end up with a nice view of the pool... When you book standard using points, you will not get the same views. I booked standard (cash) multiple times and thought I got upgraded because we had pool view - - then someone explained how it works. It is very unlikely you will ever see a pool view using points for a standard room.
