and I am wondering if the border crossing workers being on work to rule are going to give me a hassle or if they are more on the lax side of the scale... wondering what the delays are going to be like.. we are crossing at Fort Erie if that helps.
Looking forward to my weekend away!

I live 'on' the border in BC. Literally 2 minutes from the border. We go over all the time - about once a month. We stock up on lunch stuff and always bring it back across with no problems. If my daughter buys any clothing, she just wears it back across. LOL. We usually just go over for fun and for lunch. They have great and cheap buffets down there! Also - we LOVE thrift shops and value village - we buy namebrand stuff down there for super cheap and come and resell on ebay for Disneyland money!!
Going across I always just say we are going down for the day to have lunch and look around - something to do. On the way back I always say we bought some pudding and cookies we can't get in Canada, and they just wave us on through. I doubt you will have any problems.

It's the Canadian side that is pitching a fit, not the US side... Coming this way should be okay, but returning back to Canada, at least two days ago, there was about a 3 hour wait in Detroit.

I recommend you check that link before you go.

Watch out with Queenston/Lewiston - I have had BAD LUCK with that bridge. Rainbow was by far better.
